WACKY WEDNESDAY
Remember when we used to have those? Do something wacky (for you) today -it will make you feel good. Boy, I need to take my own advice. Tossed and turned and turned and tossed from 3a.m. on. I'm tired!
Have to leave in just a few minutes to take gd to school. She has early release today at noon. They have an 'interview' here with someone from the Youth Ranch today. Hoping, hoping that goes well. I suppose it will depend on gd's mood. It sure wasn't good last night. Started hearing all this yelling about 8:40pm -was gd of course. Told her dad he was "the worst dad ever!" This morning I was somewhat subtly accused of several things being touched or missing. Not me.
No word from my dnephew on how my dsis did yesterday.
Yesterday on M ed Co's site it said dh's meds would be shipped today -looked this morning and now it says the 23rd. Which means I have to go by yet more medicine 'over the counter' for his esophagus! Grrr..... wonder what the hold up is THIS time! Will look again later, but think I may be contacting my trusty ol' supervisor at some point today.
Have to pick up gd at noon and then leave again for our church's (down here) annual meeting about 1:20 or so. Think the 'interviewer' is supposed to be here at 1 so we may leave before he gets here.
I'm off -time to head to school.

Re: WACKY WEDNESDAY
Dee - Wow, with all that's going on please make sure you do something Wacky, you deserve it.
I slept in this morning... I was exhausted after way to many days of going and going until 10 pm. I can't wait for this weekend, it is a three day weekend and I desperately need it. I am up d2s, make-up done, working on my coffee. Still need to take my Meds, pack my lunch, and fill my coffee cups. Need to be out the door in about ten minutes so I had better get a move on. Have a great day!

Re: WACKY WEDNESDAY
I hope the meeting goes well too, Dee! Thanks for starting us out. I like the idea of wacky. I guess I'm having coffee with a friend today, but that's not a particularly wacky activity and this friend is not particularly wacky either. LOL! I can figure out something wacky later today.
I am up -- not yet quite at 'em. I tend to lose sleep over the week and get more and more tired as the week progresses. I have said good bye to the girls, checked emails, filled out a form for dd14's synchro team, let dog out, let dog in, and made a mug of tea.
Yesterday did not go as planned, but that ended up being OK. I even learned something in the process. I got home from volunteering at the high school at about 2:50. Dd14 called not long afterward to tell me that she needed a ride home since dd17 was staying late for a meeting. And she didn't have what she needed to take the late bus, public buses used after 3:30. That meant I couldn't fit in a trip to the groc. store before her 4:45 oboe lesson. . .SO, I dropped her at her oboe lesson, ran to the groc. store, flew through the store, and was out the door 28 minutes later. I was a little late picking her up -- and I need to go back to the groc. store for trip items, BUT it sufficed. I have now learned that I can go to the groc. store for a quick run during dd14's oboe lesson.
We were home around 6:15; I unloaded and put away groceries and made dinner. We ate late, which was inevitable, around 7:30. It was 8:30 by the time the meal was eaten and cleaned up. And I was tired. I did manage to set out garbage and recycling, get dd14 and dh (when he got home from dinner meeting) to sign thank you cards and signed the cards myself last night.
Today: Maybe a little less crazy but still pretty packed.
9 - meet dfriend for coffee
11:50 - be at the high school to finish the band uniform returns for those who forgot/were absent yesterday; I think I should be done by 2.
GFS - I need to buy some supplies for moms group
transport dd14 to and from synchro, 5:30 - 7:30
I'll work on other projects between these errands: New Year letters, desk piles, thank you cards in the mail, etc.

Re: WACKY WEDNESDAY
Good Morning!
What happy memories came flooding back when i saw today's theme! I instantly thought of the "old" SHE board and Wacky Woman with her quick wit. It has been awhile since WW has posted here - maybe she will check in with us someday again.
LO went to sleep at 3:30pm yesterday and is STILL asleep! I've checked on him countless times and he is resting easy with no fever. I'm keeping him home from school until he is able to keep food down, so he will be home at least today.....if not more.
Harriet - please never ever hesitate to get "into my business".
I welcome feed back to help me see the truth so I don't go wondering down paths that aren't the best for me. RE: DGS17 and school. He has been flunking 80% of his classes for years. They just keep passing him to the next grade anyway. His Dad meets with the school fairly regularly and hasn't included me in the process.....so I've stayed out of it. For this suspension, DGS17 is out of school for 3 days then in a special school for 10 days. His dad is perfectly fine with DGS17 running the streets and doing whatever he wants. So DGS17 is rewarded (IMHO) with 3 days of freedom and has chosen to spend it with a friend who has quit school. I am frustrated with this, but there is nothing I can do. I've invited DGS17 to stay with us, but he wants NO part of that because he doesn't want to have rules. I've offered to help DGS17 find a job but he always has an excuse why he can't work. This is just the highlights of our frequent eye-2-eye conversations as i try unsuccessfully to get him to head down a different path.

Re: WACKY WEDNESDAY
When I thought of "Wacky", I also thought of Wacky Woman, Helia.
I absolutely feel your frustration, Okay. One good thing that this ranch offers is the kids get paid $1.00/hour for chores. They ask that parents send them NO money as it takes away the incentive. Ok here with that for sure. They're encouraged to get jobs in the town where the ranch is located. They go for about 18 months but I guess they can stay until they graduate. They would help gd get ahead hopefully. She's 2 years behind and would be nearly 21 by the time she graduated at her present rate. Won't happen.

Re: WACKY WEDNESDAY
I need to get my day organized and underway. We are leaving tomorrow a.m. for FL until Sunday a.m. Last night I told dh I just wanted to go to bed and pull the covers up to my head and that was what I did - at about 8 p.m. (maybe earlier.
) Slept to this morning - a little night time tossing and turning and mind racing stuff. I'm feeling overwhelmed these days. Have used the SAD light this morning already and am so enjoying the thought of having a mostly quiet day today.
PODA
-get ready for temple bd meeting at 6 p.m. - s/b a quiet meeting
-call vet and pick up more Tramadol for dMacs
-delivery of new couch today
-get dd's room ready for dog sitter who will be here Thurs and Friday nights
-what else?
I freaking out about having dog sitter and neighbor (who will take care of ddogs Sat and then Sunday a.m.) in my house right now. We have the too large chair from the great room in a corner of the DR, the too large ottoman sitting in a corner of the not-so-great room, and will have an oversized couch and a second smaller couch in the not-so-great room this afternoon. I hate it when the house isn't "together."
I have got to get going...
-meds for me + refill container for the week (not done on Sunday)
-change, clean up, and take ddogs out for a walk
-take recycling out to the street
-clear kitchen counters
-start a lol

Oh, helia, you sound too much like what I don't recommend and too much like what I end up doing anyway! Yes, hopeful your day can be calmer than yesterday.
Dee, a "Youth Ranch" does sound positive. Hoping for you!
Have a good day at work, scattered.
3 days spent with a friend who quit school and doesn't have enough job hours to keep him from spending 3 weekdays with a friend? ... ... OKay, that may do some good! Questions for dgs : "How is Johnny... bless his heart... is he eating well? Does he have any money for clothes? Does he have someone who will put him on their car insurance, or will he have to give up driving? " And if there is a job... .. "How much is he getting per hour? OH..... ... that little, huh? Has he checked out food stamps? Bless his heart. I think you should consider lending him some money, dear - he's your friend."
Wacky part of my day? Well, I decided to run several hundred yards through the rain, from a distant parking place, to get a guitar pick to the school in time for dd's late morning exam. Yes, looking back on it (and especially looking from the point of view of students at windows
Morning Daily Card done through to hanging up drip-dries.
Ddad's breakfast on the table.
Cantaloupe for me - still no further breakfast by 9:45 (got up at 5) but he's still eating, so I'll wait.

Good morning!
I have 2 new wacky habits that I learned on internet recently. They involve used coffee grounds and used tea bags. Going to be dumping the coffee grounds around the rhododendrons as I read that acid-loving plants like that sort of thing. Will refrigerate the used tea bags and then place over closed eyelids for 10 minutes. Supposed to help with puffiness. Did this yesterday and it was so nice. Helps with relaxation, for sure, so will continue. This is about as wacky as I get!
Good day to all!

Re: WACKY WEDNESDAY
Harriet: Your 'conversation' with OKay's grandson is hilarious!
I'm in my bathrobe. The nice, fluffy, superwarm, one dh gave me for Christmas. He might regret that gift since there's little incentive for me to get dressed!
I've been looking for apartments. A luxury building was built in the 1970s in my neighbourhood and it still seems like a great choice for us. They were built some large units (1200 - 1600 square feet) in order to encourage people to give up their houses in the neighbourhood and move in which two or three people did. It is run by a reputable management firm (dh is renting from them now.) For me, it is my old neighbourhood, all views are of parkland (I grew up in a triangle shaped pocket of houses with parkland on two sides) and lots of shopping within walking distance. The building has a pool, exercise room (although dh doesn't want to give up our equipment) and bike path running beside the building that leads both downtown or out to the river. The only problem is the large units are on high floors and we wanted something not requiring an elevator (what if you just want to run down to the car for something?)
Dh also wants a gas range and that seems to be a stumbling point. I've only found it in one or two places. Most of the 'gourmet' kitchens are referring to granite counters and stainless steel appliances, not actually for gourmet cooks (which we aren't but cooking with gas is wonderful.) The alternative is to find a place inside a converted house and ask the owner's permission to add gas to the kitchen, at our expense. So that is a really limiting requirement (and a lot of the converted houses don't have covered parking, another of dh's requirements.)
So this is not going to be easy. But it will be interesting.
I really should eat breakfast now. Dh is on a conference call so I can't concentrate on anything now. Sigh.... I hope our next place isn't so open concept.
