Sorry I haven't posted much - just too much going on. Having a wonderful time with friends. Lots of hugs and catching up between meals. Meals, of course, are the highlight of RVers lives.
We are off to breakfast (free from RV dealer who thinks we all will buy new rigs - Wrong!) and then to memorial service for Dfriend who passed last week.
Then Happy hour (after lunch) for the last time this year. Yesterday we had about 300. Band was great, sun was shining and food was plentiful.

blessed, keep in mind that I am no expert, but I would honor your ddolders wishes and not plan anything. I would concentrate on having a clean house and food on hand to make company type meals. Otherwise, if you buy theatre tickets and dine out at expensive restaurants, then you have set the bar too high and anything less in the future, will make you feel like you have failed. I think this girl will just be glad to have a nice place to stay that doesn't cost money and will (and should) be grateful for that.
Blessed the best gift you can give your family is financial security so spur of the moment spending like this doesn't have a place in your life right now. Maybe someday, but not now. Those savings are important!
Do a quick google for 'free' activities in your area (hiking - maybe even with an outdoor picnic of soup before coming back to your place for a crock pot dinner), dvds borrowed from the library (check out the library for admission passes - ours loans out passes to local museums, plus ski lift passes and other activities), board game night, personal pizzas (either make or buy your own dough and ingredients and everyone assembles what they want for their pizza), or spa night (facials made with homemade ingredients, or just mani/pedicures.) There a dozens of ideas you'll find online to fill the time.
I'm up but not really at it. Morning dailies are done. Kitchen table is once again missing in action. I'll work on that for 45 minutes then will have some lunch.
I got a story finished and sent last night. I enjoyed doing it so I hope my editor likes it, too.
It's super foggy here with freezing fog in places.
DH is at his fasting lab work drug study routine appt. for diabetes. He gets nervous the night before he goes, so he's up and down ALL night long! So my night's sleep has been interrupted a good number of times, I'm a zombie and feel so tired! I think I'll take a bit of a nap this afternoon, to catch up.

blessed, I like what Kathryn said. When I don't spend gobs of money on my children and grandchildren I think I'm actually doing them a favor. Someday I won't be destitute, knocking on their door for help.
I am being thorough today. I am trying to finish up in the master bedroom. I've done some more in the closet, I've folded the things into the hope chest. I'm organizing the bins of fabric, just putting like things together (sort-of) to get all the loose things corralled. Then I'll tackle the clothes and the dresser. It's looking better but there's a whole lot more to do.
I also have an idea I need to redo the curtains in there or at least just the curtain rod. The one I'm using is straight across at the sliding glass door, and leaves a space between the curtain and the wall, which is adjacent to the dresser mirror. DH thinks one could stand outside and peer in and see by the mirror most of the room. It doesn't bother me.... so I'm thinking, at the very least, we need a rod that has a bend at each end and comes to the wall...

Spent 2 15's and found half the table. The remainder is covered in items sorted by task, so it is at least an organized mess now.
Found an alternate cruise for next Jan. That makes 2 we choose from that cover LA to Australia. But in actual fact, we should be doing a third cruise in Feb/March that will cover off Australia to South Africa. Those are less common itineraries unless we are will to be on the Queen Mary, which is too large a ship for us.
Checking in did better than expected last night first day of house sitting went well excpt dgson missed the bus b/c gma slept in took advantage of the opportunity b/c h. was doing chickens for me;
no worries I just dropped him off as it was on the way. Stopped by the store after that.
We had dgson make up a list and it was a long check list and got through that last night and this morning. Even shoveled the snow off the patio and back step this morning so it will melt by this evening.

Good afternoon! I am home from moms group and have just finished lunch. It is 1:30.
I think both Lilac and Kathryn had great ideas, ((blessed)). You also don't want to set the bar so high so that your friends won't feel like they need to reciprocate with expensive activities when your family or family members visit them. I do understand, though; you do have a wonderful city nearby with a lot of culture to offer visitors.
Our hens laid again a couple days ago, even though we didn't put a light on them this winter. . . . . They're also outside all the time now that the snow is gone. It was the snow, not the temps, that kept them in earlier.
We are having a sunny day which is so lovely!! It is 35 right now, so higher than I thought the predicted high was. Sunshine makes all the difference, though.
I have responded to email re: ski trip; I'm going to bring a dinner of bbq pulled pork sandwiches, butternut squash, and a green salad - unless dfriend is planning on a green salad to go with her soup. I'm hoping to make some banana bread for snacks and probably some cookies too.
Blessed: When I'm going somewhere to experience a city, I don't stay with people I know. I might meet up with them but I want to focus on the city and what it has to offer and experience what I want to experience. When I go to stay with friends, I'm going to visit with them and experience them, not what their area has to offer.
The last 4 days of mail is opened and filed under garbage, recycle, shred, to be entered and to be paid.
Now I'll focus on the "to be paid" bit.
Oh, and I ate a snack. Will have another one after I finish one or two piles.
