feeling a bit a head for a sunday! up and saw the sunrise and didn't buy coffee out.
menu planning done, week basic plan done, now to work on updating my card file as it is not working right now for weeklies, monthlies and focus.

thank you so much again for the financial chat earlier this week. Dd's friends had a great time without me going crazy. I felt more relaxed and saved money but not going for the magical experience for company.

Kathryn ~ I started watching BBC's Wartime Farm series on youtube. Fascinating stuff about life in the English countryside during WWII. I know a very little about rationing in the US in the 40s. I wonder if Canada had the same restrictions?

The newsletter needed more editing than I expected, but I did get the extra article written and sent off. She'll probably send back the 2nd draft tonight.

We are still "harvesting water" as Emptynester called it, from the leaking shower faucet. I'm a bit behind getting laundry done because I'm being stubborn about only using the collected water for washing it. (After so much drought in the summer, I cannot stand seeing the water just dribbling away down the shower drain being wasted.) Needed another special trip yesterday to the hardware store, hopefully we have the right tool now and DH can get to it today.

I lasted longer than I thought I would, but now I'm really dragging. I'm going to crawl up the stairs to take a long nap with the cats.

I have managed to get s2s, swish & swipe including set-up a pot with soap & vinegar to hold the toilet brush, stripped my bed, and sprayed it down with L ysol along with my comforter, pillows, and mattress pad. Now I need to feed Bert & Ernie and get something to eat.

LucyLee, Do you ever take a nap?

Ivy asked this yesterday, and I am ROFLOL!!! Oh, Ivy... I am the QUEEN of naps. I have been known to take a nap before I can summon the energy to go to bed.

Actually, I made it great yesterday, though. I drove the first half of the trip and then I stayed awake, I think, all the way to the game. We ate at a favorite pizza place, and stopped by Gigi's cupcakes * and I resisted, b/c they did not have my favorite flavor * and I graded a set of papers while we waited for time to go in at the game.
Unfortunately the game did NOT go our way... and I slept most of the way home.

We've been to church and we have dgs now. He's sleeping.

I'll have to go out to dmom's and do some bookkeeping chores this afternoon... THEN, maybe I can get my nap for today!
I think dh & I are going to a movie tonight. No school tomorrow!!! Happy dance!!!

After sleeping on it, dh decided he needed a double switch and the setup he created yesterday will work with more wiring added. He had intended for the one switch to run both the fan and light at the same time. But it ended up with them both being "hot" and one of them would run continuously, so that is why the change is being made. The big plus is no climbing in the attic. He decided to check the shower system we bought last week, whether it would work with the existing plumbing. It wouldn't work, so he returned it for a set I like better. This shower head adjusts where the other one didn't.

I have committed myself to insuring that he has a good breakfast each day he is working on this. Yesterday I made him an omelet in a bag. Thanks to Emptynester, I have scrambled very few eggs, since she shared this with us. Today I made muffins, poached eggs and ham steak for him. Sure made for a lot of dishes but since he working hard on his weekend off, it is the least I can do. Dd2 would say that I am spoiling him, but if we don't spoil each other, who will?

I started feeling sick awhile ago, but am feeling somewhat better.

While I have my sewing machine set up I need to work on a pair of curtains that I bought for the guest bedroom. I actually bought 2 sets. One panel is used for the doorway into the large walkin closet. The other will be used as a backup. Then the pair for the window, I need to cut them off and hem them. It is a basement window and with the window being higher, I don't like the long length. I am going to use the bottom of one of the curtains and make it square and hem it. I will then lay it over the round navy tablecloth that I have on a round bedside table. Just decided that when I do the curtains, I will do one first to make sure I like the shorter look, before I whack both of them off.

hi all - took dd older for her last drive with dh through the countryside.

dd younger is making the scones for the week.

d book If you ever want to hear what world war II was like for the french living in the countryside I am happy to share as my dmom tells stories to the kids about the war and I grew up on the stories.

Mentioned the song to one of our 'oldsters' and her reaction was sufficient that we won't pursue it further, in church. We'll still learn it to sing at the senior luncheons.

Church went very well. Small turnout at our side but that's the norm. Weather is atrocious so many would have stayed home. The parking lots are sheer ice so I'm hoping no-one falls and breaks anything. The flash freeze this morning after all the rain last night has made everything an ice rink, except the snow covering it all means you can't see how dangerous things are. Dh had a slip (not fall) in both parking lots.

I've had scrambled eggs for lunch and am going to count my WW points for the day to see what I can eat further since I'm still hungry. I'm also going to check out recipes for tonight's dinner. I'll look for an almond encrusted pork chop since that's what has popped into my head (saw a photo of an almond encrusted chicken breast last week that has me thinking...)

I have a ton of eggs to eat up (and 4 lbs of bacon) so am looking for a gluten free quiche recipe as well. You can tell I have paperwork to do (pulling together the annual report) - I seldom spend time even thinking about cooking!

Found both recipes pretty quickly so I'm all set. Don't know when I'll make the quiche (soon, I have eggs to use up!) but am all set for this evening.

Have defrosted the pork chops and have ground up the almonds. Will start cooking in 60 - 90 minutes.
