Hi, Sadie! I guess you're feeling better now?
Scattered, I'm sorry you were too sick to work today.
Good habits: I am trying not to undo all my work in the bedroom. Clothes hung up, shoes put away, it looks nice in there. I did one more drawer in the bathroom and will go back and finish the rest soon.
Worked on a project for our insurance company, but the paperwork doesn't fit the way our company operates. I'm going to take several of the pages and just staple my own pages to them and send them in. Dumb way to do an audit of our company, I'd say.
Went out to breakfast with 3 other gals from our committee and that was a lot of fun. I ran errands on the way home, stopped at grocery store (yes, again) and dropped off all those donations at gw. So, now I'm back to get started in the house again.

Re: Good Habits Tuesday
Back from errands got dgds coat to her at preschool just after they opened gave her a hug while I was there. got my pills and ordered another Rx.
Picked up the ingredients needed so we can make snack mix.
I'll round up the pan needed for that and get it all together.
While I was at the mart store did some laps around it they said
they get that quite a bit even a runner at night.
At the thrift shop I tried out a diff. kind of ex. bike with things for arms to hold on to that move as well. Looked for grey yarn at three places with no luck.
Beds have been made
trash can is back from the curb.
Hens are out and about grazing on the lawn they do not like being inside h. said so h. lets them water is not frozen.
I've had lunch
hot cocoa break now.
Got a pen pal letter that reminds me I did not finish my journaling yesterday and have not done any today yet either.

Re: Good Habits Tuesday
Home after a busy morning and afternoon. Am making myself a pot of decaf tea to warm myself up. Still at 0*F here, -17*C.
My senior friend didn't have to be at the hospital until 10 so we left here just before nine and all went well. Then dh and I stopped at the Chinese grocery, dropped my friend's cane off with her ddil and then arrived home just as my childhood best friend was arriving.
She and I then headed off for a town 30 minutes from me for a quick lunch and then to attend the funeral of the last of parents on the street we grew up on. It was a special street, where everyone knew everyone's business (in a good way.) Mrs. S was my friend's next door neighbour and the families were very close. She was 98.5, woke up in the night not feeling well and died before making it to the hospital from the nursing home. Had her marbles and physical mobility right up until the end.
I didn't know the woman well (I lived farther down the street and her children were all 15+ years older than me) but my friend did so I went to support her. We had a very good time. She was worried about me (I was so terribly shy as a kid and she was outgoing) but, of course, I'm fine with strangers now so chatted away with people.
I'm home now, about to tackle 15 email messages. But first, some tea.

Re: Good Habits Tuesday
Went to the grocery store. Planned to stay home but the library called and a book that I had been on the reserved list for since Nov., was finally available. So I decided to go get it.
I need to get started on that closet, so better just DO IT!

Re: Good Habits Tuesday
Hi y'all...
My plans for yesterday sort of got mis-directed. Planned on blessing the house...it sure does need it, but ended up cleaning the mircowave and refridgerator from top to bottom. Worked on laundry along the way and then treated myself to a movie on TV. Also made slow-cooker chicken with veggies. Browned up the chicken before I put it in the pot. Then I made a huge pile of rice...One of Sweetie's favorite meals.
Sat. afternoon I worked on the front yard trimming up all the plants and bushes, and planned on working in the back today. Got a call last night from a really close friend that I haven't seen in a while and we agreed to meet for breakfast. Knew it would be a long one, which it was, but that was ok with me. I had planned to do the house blessing today, but my friend's invitation had me putting it off till tomorrow. This afternoon I go for my annual eye examine and I will be getting my eyes dilated. I hate that, but it needs to be done. I have macular degeneration diease and need to have it checked each year.
Stopped at the library on the way home this morning so I'm good to go with my reading for the next few weeks. I expect to get a prescription for reading glasses today, so that means I'll be making my way to C oscos in the next day or so.
Some of ya'll are freezing and Blessed is offering to send some of her snow....We're experiencing record highs this week. Should be around 80 by this afternooon. Way too soon for me. However my poor plants and trees will be glad for some sun.
Thankfully dinner will be left overs from last night. I planned ahead so I wouldn't have to worry about it. My resolution is to put more fun in my life...hence the movie yesterday. As long as I can keep Lawrence and his camels from topping the ridge, I figure I'm OK.... Waving to ya'll..........Cya'll later.......

Re: Good Habits Tuesday
((scattered)) I hope you are feeling better.
Bfast with your friend sounded like a lot of fun, Cowinkie. The chicken dish sounds yummy. Watching Lawrence of Arabia?
Did you get to the closet, Lilac?
You are being a good friend, kathryn.
Hello to all!!!
Done:
x groc. store
x gassed the van
x groceries unloaded and put away
x talked on the phone to dfriend B for 30 minutes; she was between cases in the OR.
x unpacked suitcase
x emailing back and forth with the oboe teacher; I think we're going to move dd14's lesson to later this week b/c of her sore wrist
x snack
I need to find my 2nd wind to keep going for an hour before I start getting dinner tonight - teriyaki trout, rice, and asparagus tonight. I am tempted to dip into Downton Abbey season 3, episode 1, however. . . . I found the episodes online for free through PBS. . . . I think the episode is about 2 hours? Are they all 2 hours? Or, did I misread that the first episode is that long? I am going to try to refrain. Maybe that will be an indulgence tonight after everything is cleaned up.

Re: Good Habits Tuesday
hi everyone!!! (my 3rd time typing so a good hello to all)
bolognese is a meat sauce that is cooked for 3-1/2 hours or all day in crock pot.
(I cut everything up ahead of time and have it measure out before I cook so it's not so bad and clean up is easier)
you take 1 tbl butter and 1 tbl olive oil and melt
you add the pancetta cut up or bacon and cook until crispy
add onions chopped (if you add it with the bacon/pancetta the bacon will not crisp) cook until translucent
add carrots and celery cook a bit
add the meat (I use beef and pork but it usually calls for veal and pork 1 lb each) cook then drain
add 3 T + 1 t tomato paste cook a minute
add 1 c white wine cook until it is gone
add 1 cup milk (sounds weird but this is a must in bolognese)
add the broth 6 cups
then salt/pepper, thyme and bay leaf, rinds of parmesan
that is bolognese
took care of some important phone calls

Re: Good Habits Tuesday
Blessed, What's pancetta?
I must really sound dense!
I enjoy learning new things because maybe a character in a short story can cook it up. It sure sounds tasty, too!
(((((scattered))))) Get Well Soon!
Cowinkie, Sometimes getting out with a friend is more fun than house blessing, too. I'm glad you got out.
I, too, have macular degeneration, dry-form and a bunch of other stuff. This week I see the specialist for a follow-up on my adhesion, etc... Do you get those reversal eye drops after you've been dilated
and had your exam?
They're great!
Lilac, It's great you got a new book to read from the library and got shopping done, too. It's like killing 2 birds with 1 stone. Isn't that a dreadful-sounding quote? Never thought about how "violent" that sounded to me before.
Kathryn, YOU ARE SO COLD there!
Keep warm!
Stay safe walking outdoors, too, if it's icy out.
Nancy, It's good you did errands, too, and got dgds coat to her and got a hug.
Harmony, Your good habits sound like good ones.
My good habit is putting out hot spots and trying to keep a handle on my laying clothes down in our master bedroom and hanging them up instead, so the bedroom looks better!
Elizabeth, I'm not a morning person either. I wish I was, but it's just not in me, unless we're going on a day trip to do a family function up north or are going to go visit friends at the ocean. Then, I try to go to bed earlier and get up earlier. I don't like it when I have fasting lab work or if a dr. asks me if I can make an 8:30 a.m. appt. Are they KIDDING????
I don't mind an 11 a.m. appt. because I'm awake and ready by then, but 8:30 a.m. means getting up way too early.
I used to get up way early when Dson and DD lived at home. But now that I'm older, anywhere from 7:45 - 9 a.m. seems nice. ♥
Sadie, I'm terrible about taking out my Bible to read it, but this year I ordered a small Bible Verses desk calendar and every day I read a new verse. I love that!
Your idea for Feb. 1 to be a re-start is a good idea. It's something I should do.
Dove, My weekly plan keeps changing because DH changes the days he does things, so it messes with my weekly plans. However, I do desk day on Wed. and try to clean house on Thurs. and Fri. so it's ready by the weekend. Everything else gets changed around depending on DH, how I'm feeling, appt.'s, etc.... I try to have Tuesday for a day off to myself and/or Thursday, too.
Speaking of weekly plans! Ha! DH went to Costco and Fred Meyer this a.m. He didn't find any fire starter at Fred Meyer. He likes theirs a lot and he gets a box of them, when they're there. He came home, we put stuff away and all-of-a-sudden he said how it's supposed to rain for several days, would I like to get out and he needed the fire starters.
We went to Walmart, he got a different brand of firestarters and some hot chocolate (2 cans) for stirring into his International Coffee. I wanted to look at yarn. Oops!
I found a light pink Caron Pound soft baby yarn!
Then, we were going down the aisle and I stopped dead in my tracks!
There was a Peaches 'n' Cream kitchen cotton yarn I just "had" to have. I make kitchen mats.
Not only THAT, but the shelf above the cotton yarn showed a pattern leaflet of 5 baby hats with matching diaper covers.
I got that, too.
Now I'm really going to be busy.
It was fun to get out, but the air inversion there was awfully bad, as compared to our house, so my eyes and throat acted up. But I didn't need to use my inhaler because it did not cause asthma. Now I'm slowly putting out hot spots, am trying to make plans to balance writing with crochet, walking, the laundry, and housework.
Have a GR8 later afternoon and evening, Everybody!

Re: Good Habits Tuesday
My older dd is 33 today. I got her a nice card and small gift in the mail, but will call this evening.
Thank you, blessed, but even with explanation I am still impressed!
Sadie, how did you find Kidnapped to be? Did it keep your interest?
Ivy, hens are very interested in seeing eggs together in a nest. They like that "visual" a lot. So it's natural for them to think an already started nest of eggs is very cool and lay their own egg among them. So if the person "lays" eggs first
in the convenient place, the hens will follow. Plastic eggs work until they pop open or roll away. Ceramic eggs get freezing cold in winter and also seem breakable to me. Golf balls usually work, but some hens know better and rake them out of the nest daily. My Fay (oldest, wisest) will rake any plastic egg or golf ball out of the nest, across the floor and right on out the ramp! I find them abandoned in the yard. The wooden eggs seem to be just right. They aren't cold, they are the right look, shape. If they get rolled around they don't break.
Kathryn, you did a good job on social/community/roots things today.
Great way to exercise in the bad weather, Nancy.
Harmony, you sound like a person who has a lot of energy.
My ddad and I had planned a walk but didn't get very far - the wind and cold are just not forgiving, even on a sunny day. I got to thinking about the vitamin store and checked to see what would be needed - ended up making that trip to stave off running out of anything. I have to run my errands while I have HRH here. One bill handled that shouldn't wait until Fri Desk Day. Dd14 is getting ready for the first day of the second semester. Lots of prep.

Re: Good Habits Tuesday
Helia, I did get the closet done. I have taken out 5 bank boxes, a large plastic file folder box and another box of things that need sorted thru, mainly paper stuff. I stacked them in the "library". Then I found 2 large boxes and 1 small of Christmas decorations. I ended up sticking them under the stairway with other Christmas things. There isn't much room left under there. So there is actually empty shelf space in the closet. I knocked over a new set of the long, florescent lights and 1 broke. I threw both of them away because the glass is so fine, I figured I would never get the other one cleaned without getting cut. Now I need to buy more lights. The basement has mainly those lights and it is nice and bright down there.
In one of the boxes I found a bunch of paper things, such as invitations, programs, etc. to dd2s 1st wedding.
Since they have names on them I guess I will shred them. I would really like to narrow down what I keep out of all these boxes. I know there are a lot of cards to deal with. I have a friend that just keeps the last card she received from anyone. I need to do that too.
