She found what she needed for tonight. We made tentative plans to go on Monday.
No more than hung up and dh called. The countertop/sink is out for delivery. UPS is delivering it. So I guess I will wait for it to come. If I leave I will miss it, for sure.
Tomorrow dgs7 has a basketball game at 9 am and dgs8s game is at noon. Dd2 needs to work at the shop from 1-5. 5 needed off for tomorrow. Dgd16 and her friend for forensics, 2 for cheerleading and 1 for? So I offered to watch them. Tonight she has scheduled a D ivas night and didn't have a very good response, but hated to cancel on the ones that did. This is the boys first night home and she will be working. Poor planning on her part. I did not offer to watch them tonight. I will if she is in a bind, but I am hoping her dh will make a point to get home and do it.
I am glad you are safely home, Harriet! I love your description of the hens and their take on the weather.
Nancy, I enjoy hearing about your flock. When will your dd be back?
Guess I better tweak the grocery list, so I can get out of here after the delivery.

Re: Finally, on Friday
Lunch is prep'd and ready. Waiting on DH to get home.
MPB broke (again!!) yesterday AM. DH spent a good part of yesterday on ladder (it is very tiring to continually go up/down and work from a ladder). When I got home from class yesterday, LO & I ended up making a part run. That put my driving time yesterday over 5 hours. Driving is not my favorite thing to do when it is on narrow 2 lane roads..... especially in the dark. However it was easy compared to what DH did and continues to do. I hope the parts from last night enable DH to get the MPB going today.
Laundry is almost caught up. Everything is ironed and put away except for the last load that is in the dryer now. I watched an episode of Firefly while ironing this morning.
I took 8 pages of notes yesterday in class and got them transcribed and organized this morning (into OneNote). I am "kicking" myself now. WHY didn't I take a tablet or laptop with me to class and input the notes directly? I am going to take both paper/pen and tablet with me to the next class and see if it will work okay to work digitally without disrupting others. If it seems to bother others (or instructor) then i will continue to use paper/pen to capture my notes.

Re: Finally, on Friday
Up from almost three hour nap.
Our trees are icy but not too bad, and roads appear fine. Only rain is coming down. Power lines within this development are underground, but the power has to get here. So far no problems.
Need to get busy, finally. Helia, I can so identify. I can go and go but then when I have some time at home, I feel like I don't use it wisely.
-Clear kitchen counters and wipe
-start a lol
-make the bed
-get dressed, etc.
-start vinegar in coffee maker to clean insides - it's sluggish
OKay, does OneNote store pdfs? I use Evernote, so when I make handwritten notes I can scan them into Evernote to store. It doesn't OCR the handwritten stuff, but then, based on timing and my notebooks I can usually find what I need.

Re: Finally, on Friday
Looks like dcleaning lady drinks vinegar - we are all out. She uses for mopping floors, but I think she's using way too much - not that it's expensive, but I hate to be out when I need some. DMoses vet appt is in 30 minutes and I called and things are normal there today. Poor ddogs haven't been walked this morning, but I'll try to make it up to them. (As dh says, I am the human in charge.)
I'll run through grocery for salmon and vinegar after vet appointment - need to throw some challah in breadmaker before I leave, also, check to see if car needs defrosting...

Re: Finally, on Friday
I'm sorry you guys are having such bad weather. I hate ice. Harriet, I cringed when I read about that sidewalk. We would probably have to stay inside in stuff like that. I'm obsessed with even drops of water on our tile floors here after what happened to DH. Lifechanging sometimes to fall anywhere.
Ignore if you want:
I've had such a bad day so far. I so wish DH and I were mentally sharp the way we were when we were younger. It makes everything so hard having a foggy brain. He doesn't remember stuff, and I don't grasp stuff easily anymore. It's so bad, when I was to the dr. last year she did a word test for altzheimers. I passed the test, but then I was sitting calmly not running around trying to get several things done and remember multiple items all at once. My life is not neat and orderly like that.
DH needed me to pick up a supply and bring it to him in the dump truck. Sounds easy enough, right? Battery was near dead. I got out of the house without my cell phone (forgot). Could not find street on the map, could not get gps to load correctly; could not find supply in the store; could not get help; help finally said product was on the shelf behind a heavy stack of other stuff, loaded up wrong; on my way discovered not enough gas; got to a gas station could not find the gas tank (I don't drive this truck much); couldn't get pump to give me receipt; went to jobsite; DH not there; customer's father evidently didn't have a phone (hazards of owner only having cell and taking it with him); subcontractor there had new touch phone he couldn't operate; wasn't able to get his old phone working;
Waited a while, decided I was at wrong jobsite; went to new one couldn't find him I think I was on the wrong street; went to pay phone; didn't have change; got change in store; 70 cents later (phone wasn't working) I got him and he gave me address; I neglected to write it down; up and down the street I thought was the right one and it wasn't; finally figured it out and found him.
Swapped the truck; came home in hot truck couldn't figure out how to turn ac on; got home, too late to hang out laundry; crock pot dinner was on high and I didn't get it turned down before I left. I shed a tear or two, wish I could just cry and cry, know I would feel better, but I can't.
We had trouble with old employee, had to fire last week. DH training another and I watched for a few minutes. Very nice fella, teachable, but knows practically nothing. I feel bad for both of them.
Ok, I'm going to try to get something else done. It appears when I feel really good and work hard I regress to being tired all over again. Last couple days I haven't been able to get out of bed. Maybe my health is damaged by the thyroid thing or something...and I'll never really be the same.

Re: Finally, on Friday
((Harmony)) I asked my doc in Dec about not being able to remember things, words, what I'm doing sometimes, and he indicated that I couldn't possibly have any cognitive disorder because I couldn't do what I do (as an accountant) if I were impaired. I have to take heart from that. When I hear you talk about your spreadsheets and getting your month closed out and stuff ready for CPA I have to think you're pretty sharp. I do know what you mean, tho.
No ice on car, breadmaker going and a small pimento cheese sandwich down. Heading out with dMoses, who thinks he's a very lucky guy to be going out.
Harriet, I haven't heard mention of your ddad recently; are things okay with him?

Re: Finally, on Friday
RE: OneNote. Yes, it does store PDFs. OneNote also does OCR on handwriting - at least I know it does if tablet is used to capture the handwritten notes. Hum......I should have try scanning my handwritten paper documents in and storing in original format and/or using OCR to create a digital document for me. I wanted the analog information better organized (indention, links added, etc) than I could do with paper/pen.
running around trying to get several things done and remember multiple items all at once
I totally understand! This is why I can never be without my hip pad/pen to capture incoming information. Otherwise it goes flying through one ear and out the other ear before I can blink twice.
((((Harmony)))) It is my non-professional opinion that your memory is just fine, but that you are just doing A LOT of actions all at once. You are an awesome problem solver and are always on ahead of the game on your financial information. I thought of you Sunday at church when they handed out the giving statements......I thought.....Harmony would be frustrated to have to wait until the end of January to receive her statement. It would have caused her weeks of delay in getting information to CPA. You are a great role model and deserve a HUGE POTB for all you do!
Lunch is served and cleaned up.
Supper is prep'd (Rotisserie chicken with sides of mashed potatoes, gravy & green beans for the guys. I'll have summer squash & sweet potato for my sides)
I have an hour before picking up LO from school. So much to choose from to do with that hour......

this is probably considered vulgar...and yucky....and not polite to laugh at someones mistake. But since my world includes a 4 year old that hasn't mastered blowing his nose - I thought it was hilarious

Re: Finally, on Friday
trying new recipe today for cabbage soup as my soup the other day was soooooooo bad. dd younger heard I was trying again and said ... Mom, I am not trying to be mean, but maybe you should give up on that one (soup)
. Now you know how bad it was
so soup is in the pot again, hopefully this one will be better. Summer kitchen in door county makes a wonderful one and I would love to copy it. crossing my fingers
dailies that are done so far,
worked out only a bit, dishes emptied and refilled, tossed one thing from fridge that looks done in, counters cleaned, stove clean (dh), dh also straightened the family room and has one load in the dw. Dinner planned and almost done putting together.
d ok... I know its probably simple but whats an MPB?
still: play or walk dogs, make beds (not done), vacuum first floor, everyone bring down their laundry
off to pick up dd younger. turns out dd older can't come home and bring my truck back... she has a dentist appointment next weekend so I shall see it then. (and of course her which is always nice)
