((Harmony)) I concur with other here. You are plenty sharp, you just have a LOT going on. I know that when i have a lot going on and/or am stressed, I tend to forget things.
Yep, those are good driving tips, OK. I was sliding earlier today, but it doesn't really bother me b/c I know how to steer the car through it w/out touching brakes or gas. Also, everyone drives slowly and carefully here in bad weather so I had plenty of room.
blessed, cabbage soup sounds yummy! We make soups for dinner every Sunday, but now the girls are getting tired of it. I think we'll continue, though; it is dh's family's tradition, though I don't think him mom made them from scratch.
**Random note re: dd17: I am not bragging about her. She is clever in many ways, but she also chose to opt out of the accelerated track in a couple subjects this year, making this a pretty comfy year for her academically speaking. Dh and I were a bit disappointed in her choices, but we decided not to fight her over this, realizing that in the long run, it won't matter much. And we have learned to choose our battles. At least one teacher last spring took her aside to talk to her about her course selection for this fall; her counselor asked her about it too. We were very impressed and very much appreciated that they actually noticed and cared enough to engage dd17 in a conversation about what they saw as a mismatch. In retrospect, however, I do have to say that I'm very glad dd17 chose a fairly low-stress school year, considering the anxiety issues she went through earlier this fall. Her choices last spring were quite serendipitous. Someone is looking out for her.
Done:
x responded to dd14's oboe teacher and cancelled her lesson for today.
x a.m. routine
x washed ski masks by hand; I'm missing one - dh must have used it for running
x printed out letter
x prepped 4 cards for the mail; I'm starting with international ones.
x drove to PO mailbox nearby b/c dgirls want to get a new netflix video by Monday/Tuesday. So, the previous one needs to be in the mail now.
Next:
-switch laundry
-fix thank you card and chocolates for family who took Pepper while we went skiing last weekend. Dd14 will see their dd14 at synchro. practice
-go to the gym. I'm getting hungry but if I eat now, I can't jog for another 1.5/2 hours. . . . So, the best thing to do is to go jog now. Besides, I need to be home by 4:30 to drive dd14 to synchro.

MPB = Mom & Pop Business. DH and I are the owners of a car wash business and don't have any employees. We do all the work, upkeep, etc. ourselves. Since it is typically open 24/7 there seems to always be something going on with it. Not recommended lifestyle if you expect to have regular time off.
Ii decided to treat myself by spending some time reading and taking some notes. Time is up so off I go to pick up LO and start the next phase of the day
We are half way done with house sitting dd just called sounded stressed about the lack of phone service there what did she expect? They won't be back till mid week. Told her we were fine and a brief explanation of dgson's home work saying it was real life here school work had not changed much we were focusing on Math after her dad went in to talk to the teacher and get assignments. I skipped the part about dgson not going to practice that was a given. Dd wanted to know about our weather.
It's raining here 47* and the hens are out in the back yard after I rounded up three that escaped b/c I did not secure one folding fence part. They are fine in the wet weather.
I've done the ex. bike and glad I raked leaves earlier before the rain started in.
In a while we will be switching with the other grand parents and get dgd for the weekend.
Argh! I was SO proud of myself for getting to the gym 2 days in a row. My efforts were rewarded by a sign in the entrance to the parking lot stating that it is temporarily closed. I think I'll try an exercise tape when I get back from taking dd14 to synchro.
Home from vet and Moses appears to be fine. Talked to vet about Macs' blood work and we are starting him on an additional med, and doing an x-ray of his liver and bladder next week. The ultrasound last fall revealed a bladder stone, and the blood work from last week is still out of whack.
I got a couple of things at grocery while Moe waited.
Still light rain here - we may have freezing on roads, etc. tonight now. I hope all is well with Harriet and her family.

Hi everyone! I finally called the insurance people about my ceiling and it is unlikely to be covered. In about 15 minutes, I have to head home to pick up my resident cat for her vet trip (annual only, no known problems). After that, I am going to yarn store to crochet. When they close at 7, I will move on to Hobby Lobby or JoAnns to get some beads for the Barbie gown I am doing. The crochet part is nearly done, but there is assembly work to be done. Then it will be time to get some gasoline! When I get home, I need to glue DD10's plaster of paris dog back together. My art teacher suggested bondo for PofP. I bought that yesterday.
I already called a friend to tell her I am going to the yarn shop tonight and the coffee house knit/crochet group tomorrow. She will join me on at least one.
I don't have any final touches, but I am glad it is finally Friday. I try to finish each day with a bit of crochet.
Lilac: I was called by the Nielson people once. They were astonished that I did not have a TV (still don't and haven't for more than 15 years).
Okay: Thanks for the driving tips! I needed a LOL.
So much for finishing something, I forgot to drop the annual reports at the churches on my way home.
Did pick up the mail. And did a Cos tco run. Boy, it is busy on a Friday compared to Tuesdays. Bought some excellent travel mugs. The church musician has them and knocked one over on the table and it rolled over the music spread out for planning purposes. Not a drop came out. I was sold! I'll be putting 3 travel mugs into the give-away bin, and replacing them with these two. My fourth one has a plug in to keep warm in the car, so I'll keep it as well. Last kitchen declutter, I gave away 3 others so I'm reducing our 'stuff' bit by bit.
Got fleece to convert my bathrobe to full length. Also thread. Couldn't remember if I needed black or white (it is one of the two) so bought both. Boy, thread is expensive but given how much I sew, that might be a lifetime supply. (My sewing machine is on the 'maybe' list when I move.)
Dh is making us burgers for dinner. Tonight is the last episode of Book of Daniel.
Supper is ready. DH took LO to ride his bike at the local park (lots of concrete makes it easier to peddle). they should be back anytime.
MPB was up and running for almost 4 hours before something else broke. Water is now pouring out of the attic when one of the bays is used. He blocked off the problem area. It is pretty easy to determine a line is busted without putting eyes on the actual pipe. DH is going to eat supper before starting this repair. He has plenty of experience and parts to fix those type high pressure line breaks so hopefully this repair will be quick......as long as he doesn't misstep and fall through the attic/ceiling.
FNG gathering has been cancelled due to over 1/2 of the attendees having the flu.
Finally, on Friday, I got something done and got so tired after lunch that I got to take a nap for the first time in ages! I'm so happy!
For those in ice and snow, please be safe, keep warm and careful.
Done:
x wrote 2 birthday cards w/letters out and mailed them.
x wrote a thank you card out and mailed it.
x s2s, dressed in pretty dark aqua and white
x decluttered the dining room table and moved my files sorting project into my small office
x took everything off the art table desk in the main office, put it in a cardboard box, and dusted the room.
x fixed things on the art table desk pretty. It looks very nice in there now.
x put a blanket away, but got it out for my nap, so folded it up and it's on the sofa, for a nap w/kitty when needed.
x Quietude, Novena, Our Father, Prayers, journal writing
x the box I'm decluttering with things from the main office, which are address labels, stickers and things for pen palling, is on the dining room table.
x got out 3 small pretty boxes to hold things like pen pals' address labels, stickers, etc...
x helped put away groceries, helped sort the mail and read mine.
x washed and dried socks and underwear.
To do:
Get that box decluttered, hopefully by bedtime.
Need to fold the socks and underwear.
Need to read on a book a BFF sent me, a book on writing and a book on boundaries.
Need to crochet on a dress for dgd. ♥ She's a preemie, so won't be in it for awhile.
Would love to get my filing project done in my small office.
I was very happy that DH found a nice humidifier as prescribed by my eye specialist for my dry pitted corneas and he also bought more eye gel for moisture and flax seed oil capsules, too. I've been good at following the specialist's instructions, too.
Kathryn, I love mugs, so those travel mugs you got sound super. I have no more room for mugs, but they're so nice to have for coffee, to hold pens, etc..
Elizabeth, why won't the insurance people cover your ceiling? That's too bad. Also, not everybody is a TV person! There ARE individuals in this world who do not want or think they need one. We can get so much news and entertainment on-line, too. If you need entertainment, that is.
Twins', is Moses pass the bladder stone last fall? How's he doing now? Hope okay. Sorry about your freezing roads!
Helia, is the gym closed because of the weather?
Nancy, Sorry about the phone service for DD. She sounds frustrated, too. Is it because of your weather or hers? Oh, you're having rain, as I read further.
OKay, Wow! OKay, you and your DH must work awfully HARD to keep the car wash business going! We go to the car wash and the workers are on the go-go-go all day long! (We're not there ALL day of course!) But when we are, I marvel at all their physical work and running around. I don't blame you for wanting some time to read and take notes. You are on mighty busy lady! OKay, Sorry there was something broken.
Helia and (((Harmony))), I hope you're safe and will be able to stay home and not out on the slippery roads too much. Your dd17 is doing well, too. You and she have something to be proud of.
Blessed, Yes! Cabbage soup sounds comforting!
Waving to Dee, Sunny, MT, Harmony, CathyS, and Everybody else, too! Have a safe later afternoon and evening, too.

Ivy: china mugs are another area for decluttering. Up until now I haven't had to tackle it. I have 9 hooks under the cupboard that holds the 9 regular ones, then I have a double level of them (about 12) inside my tea cupboard, another 8 bone-china mugs in my china cabinet in the kitchen (my dad bought me those), 4 with faces on them (a gift from dd's friend who stayed with us for a while when she had a fight with her folks) and my Christmas mugs. And one for pens on the kitchen counter, 2 in the office and one each on my and dh's dressers. (Oh and three in the cabinet over our bathroom sink for toothbrushes, eye liner pencils, etc.)
And the problem is that I'm very attached to about all but 12 of them!
The nine on the hooks get used at least weekly (I use at least 1, but often 2 a day) and the bone china ones are used at least monthly when I have guests for tea. The rest, not so much!
Don't get me started on my 7 dozen tea cups! (Those never get used but the majority are part of bone china sets and those that aren't are favourites that I kept when I brought my mom's collection into my house - at that point I got rid of every assorted tea cup and saucer that didn't bring me joy to look at.) Not sure what is going to happen to the bone china. I'm still negotiating with dd to take one set (either 'hers', a set I bought at an auction by accident while running up the bidding and consoled myself by giving it to her when she was 7!) or my grandmother's, (which is complete for 16 but has 18 of some things.) She'd gladly take 'my' set because it goes in the dishwasher, but I love it too much to part with it. We'll see what happens there. Her dh is OK with my grandmother's set if she wants it and we could easily sell the auction set, most likely for more than the $70 I paid for it (complete for 12 plus 5 serving dishes, soup bowls and fruit nappies.)
You guys have a long 18 months ahead of you, listening to me agonize over my stuff!
Dh is practicing his drumming in the basement. He's getting better.
