what do you think this means: cataracts of foam (from the Great Gatsby)
here are definitions from dictionary
(cataracts:
1. : a clouding of the lens of the eye or of its surrounding transparent membrane that obstructs the passage of light
2
a obsolete : waterspout
b : waterfall; especially : a large one over a precipice
c : steep rapids in a river
d : downpour, flood <cataracts of rain> <cataracts of information>
how about "yellow cocktail music" I know that yellow is supposed to be gold - old money or corruption in the book but when I think of Yellow cocktail music, I think of a mood... not happy - I looked up a couple web sites and got different answers - what do you think?
thanks for any insight.

Re: Satisfied Saturday
Blessed - Waterfall of foam... would need the whole sentence to know for sure.
Okay - My Boys used to have that problem with the lawnmower... but I was the only who could start it. It needed a woman's touch.
UGH! I fought with the printer and program for over 30 minutes... couldn't get the mail merge to work right, so I finally just printed them with the office address and will make labels for the addresses.
Finally got my time-sheet done, now I need to look at my PT load for the week, which is very heavy due to it being both the end of the month and beginning of the month.
ToDo/TaDa
SDR & GRWR
Work
Leave work ~5:30pm for party
enjoy the party & meet new people
UGH 2 hours left I need to hurry up!

Re: Satisfied Saturday
Hmm.... I lost a post earlier too. I thought I pressed submit and then immediately logged out. Maybe I logged out too quickly? Oh, well. Nothing too important. . .
The day is not going as planned -- so what else is new, right?
Dh got horizontal surfaces mostly cleaned up while I took dd14 to synchro. He then proceeded to pack away Cmas decorations. I helped him get the tree out the door and vacuum up the pine needles. I have managed to keep laundry going; the twins need to be switched again. I have also spent about 90 minutes today driving dd14 around: to synchro, from synchro (I had to wait in the car for about 15 minutes b/c they were running late), then 30 minutes later we were back out on the roads heading to the theater where she met a friend to watch Les Mis. The friend's parents are bringing her home as we will be at small group when the movie is over. I have managed to get the chili made, though it won't get to simmer as long as I'd like. . .
Exercise will not happen today as it would take up the remainder of my time before small group and there are other things I need to do, like finishing laundry, vacuuming, some devo. time would be great. . . .
So, off to finish as many of those tidbits as possible before we leave in an hour.

Re: Satisfied Saturday
Interesting questions, blessed. Are you reading The Great Gatsby? I read that book . . 30 years ago.
I agree with scattered, though; I'd need much more context to get an inkling what Mr. Fitzgerald meant with those colorful phrases.

Re: Satisfied Saturday
DH and I made a trip to Costco and joined. It was pretty wild and all the Sat afternoon shoppers nearly drove me wild. We did buy some meat which we have packaged for the freezer and salmon which was individually frozen. Also found single serving hummus - although it's more expensive, it's perfect for tax season with veggies or crackers for a healthy snack and I need the portion control. We'll see how it works, now that we're close enough to go on a more regular basis.
I am going to nap a bit, he is going to the car dealership again. He's been agonizing over a new car for well over six months. In the big scheme of things I don't think we spend a lot. We are paying for college twice over and have a mortgage again. I buy nice clothes, but not a lot of clothes. Dh goes for quantity more than quality IMHO.

Re: Satisfied Saturday
I never read The Great Gatsby so I thought.. Why not?!!! Thanks for the help.
the sentence: "I watched on the hot sand of his beach while his two motor-boats slit the waters of the Sound, drawing aquaplanes over cataracts of foam" I imagine the foam but cataracts (spraying of the water making foam???)
also confused by the color references in the story - yellow - in different sites is listed either as old money (gold) compared to young money (green dollars) and another is that yellow represents the corruption of the wealthy. When I came across "yellow music" well it sounds to be like it should be not so great music, but in this chapter of the book the party is how can I say "hopping".

Re: Satisfied Saturday
I'm happy today when I went to mails mom's letter and get stamps before they went up I found some multiplication flash cards I've looked every where for them and could not find them yea!!!
Today I got the chicken's coop cleaned out now that it's above freezing I moved the temp. ladder roost out. The hens were mildly interested in what I've been doing. I still have to go outside and block off another area one hen is still getting out.
Dgd & I mixed up cookie dough to bake later on the guys really enjoy them later in the week.

Re: Satisfied Saturday
Yeah, I think cataracts of foam would be a lot of foam, maybe like a waterfall. . . . yellow. . .hmm.... I don't know! That is interesting.
We don't see ourselves as big spenders either. Dh has always maximized his retirement contributions and then some. I don't like investments so he takes care of that. We are in good shape to pay for 3 kids going to college, though dd14 won't go for 4 more years. If the girls opt for pricey privates, we'll have to see where we are at the time. We live debt-free, no mortgage anymore, nothing. We will need to replace cars soon, but neither of us wants to do that. We have always bought our cars for cash, no car payment. We don't like paying interest to anybody.
We do save beyond retirement. I think we do spend a lot on travel, but then dh's family is overseas so some of that is necessary for family relationships. We do go out to eat more than many of our friends; dh and I happen to enjoy that!!
OK - I'm off to grate cheese for the chili. Dh isn't here - I wonder where he is? I think he went for a run.

Re: Satisfied Saturday
After cleaning the bathrooms and flipping the laundry, dh and I headed off to put the annual reports in the churches and then to visit with my bosom buddy. He and her dh headed off for coffee and she and I talked at home (she hates to leave home if she can avoid it.) Then we all chatted together for about an hour.
After we left there, we gassed up the car and then went hiking in a forest near their place. It was better hiking for dh (up and down rather than flat) and it was tough going in places. The snow is rock hard but foot prints have frozen in the snow so the paths are very icy and uneven. Lots of turns of ankles and feet. We walk with sticks so that helped a bit. The bitter cold was rough too - we were warm everywhere but our hands, which took over 25 minutes to heat up. Of course, with the poles, our hands couldn't go in our pockets. We had both forgotten to bring mitts so just had our leather gloves. Poor choice.
By the time we were back to the car we were sweating under all the layers. So we got a good workout over 50 minutes.
I have dinner in the oven now and have just finished a snack of cut veggies and salsa. I'm going to finish today on program but mostly due to be out of the house all afternoon therefore away from temptation.
