Thanks Kathryn!
Home early from the TORD (Toronto Ontario Roller Derby) season opener. Both of the Toronto teams won! I was getting tired and it's in Downsview and the ride home is about 35 to 40 minutes. If we leave early we don't get stuck in the traffic coming out of the parking lot from the bunker. (Used to be an air force base.) The best thing was that I got to see my dd without her skates on.

Lynlee, I'm glad you are safe and sound where you are at. How often does weather like this happen? It sounds really awful.
Twins, open toe shoes and sleet? Yikes!
Harriet, Chicken walking about inside is better than chicken in the pot, no?! Sorry about DD's pink eye. Poor kiddos, no close hugs with Mummy.
It's cold-ish in the house. The cold air makes my ears "run". I need to buy ear muffs for nights like last night. Really.
Been working like crazy. Helped DH change out the drain he installed in the laundry tub, he didn't like the way it fit, got another, and now that new one is in. Finally was able to get everything cleaned up and supplies out of the kitchen back underneath the laundry room sink cabinet.
I got all the furniture in family room cleaned extra good, including lampshades, books, etc. I got rest of the house vacuumed and all the floors mopped. I vacuumed the furniture in the living room, especially where DDog slept. I'm still finding her hair everywhere!
Ran to a couple stores and got name tags for tomorrow (expecting about 14 people to come) and snacks. I'm baking some cookies and making a veggie tray. Also got some other stuff for later in case anyone stays to watch the super bowl with DH. I wanted to get at least the cookies baked tonight, but I was just too pooped to get off the couch. I'll do them after church tomorrow I guess.
House is finally looking pretty spiffy, all getting decluttered and cleaned. Makes me happy to see it.

Re: Saturday February 2
((Harriet and ddad)) Is his confusion less at his house?
Wow, that flood sounds serious, lynlee. Is it the Murray River? Dd17 did a project on that river for school when we were in Australia.
Who is coming over tomorrow, harmony? This isn't youth group stuff again, is it?
Dh is back from taking dd14's friend home (she was here all afternoon and evening) and taking dd17's water bottle to her at the indoor soccer game. Dd14 couldn't join her tonight -- b/c we can't find her shin guards!! We now suspect they got put in the give away basket -- and were given away 2 weeks ago when Purple Heart came by. . . Dh vaguely remembers a pair of shin guards in there. How they got in there no one knows.
I have written out my prayer of Praise, which I have been asked to do in church tomorrow. The guidelines say no more than 30 seconds. I'm at about 35 seconds, so I think I'll be OK. It is slightly nerve-wracking, standing up in front of about 400 people. .. but I know they're all for me. And ideally, they'll have their heads bowed and won't even be looking at me.
Dfriends have emailed about possibly visiting us in 2 weeks. Slightly short notice, but it would be good to see them. It's not clear when we'll see them or if they'll stay overnight; dh is giving an exam that Friday night and then leaving town Sunday a.m. so it's not the best weekend.
OK, I think I'm going to bed. I never got to laundry or New Year cards today, but I DID" get dd14 to and from her oboe lesson and synchro practice, got the prayer written and the groceries bought, exercised at the gym, put cards in the mail, put a yummy homemade meal in front of my family and dd14's friend, and now have a clean kitchen, thanks to everyone pitching in to help. Dh helped with driving kids around today too: he took ds back to the dorm, took dd14's friend home, and brought dd17 her water bottle. *phew* There was a lot of kid chauffeuring today. . . .
Tomrrow is a new day: church, lunch, church annual congregational meeting, maybe S and R here for supper.

Re: Saturday February 2
helia, no, not the youth group. DH decided he should host a small group. Church was starting up a new series and wanted to form new groups. I think they always do this at this time of the year because of new snow-birds arriving, trying to get everybody connected and involved. He went and took the training class and stood at the sign-up table, and 12 signed up, 1 called, and there's us, so 15 if they all come. It's for 6 weeks.
But speaking of youth, one of the gals from the group wants to have her birthday party here. Fine. I don't mind, especially if they are doing the organizing, etc.

Re: Saturday February 2
helia, I meant that dd14 and I spent the rest of the afternoon and evening with dd33, dsonil and their family at my parents' house where they stay when visiting us. This allowed my ddad to be left alone with only HRH, which was less alarming to him. He was alarmed because, for today at least, he has lost memory of dd33's marriage and children and couldn't be consoled that he knew these people. For all we know, tomorrow he will welcome them. Dd33, dsonil and I decluttered bookcases at my parents' house. Dd33 doesn't feel she should visit other family or go to the nursery at church when she has pink-eye, so all we did today otherwise was head to the drug store for an eye drop that will ease the eye discomfort while waiting on the antibiotic to do its work. She's already feeling much better, but still looks very puffy.
little britches sat on my lap to read for the first time, and we read the ancient dog-eared Alice and Jerry book, "Rides and Slides", always on the bookcase at my parents' house, lol. I pointed out the pretty delphinium and hollyhock and told him I had friends I talked to about those! He walked around afterward clutching the old book to his chest, smiling and reciting, "I like to ride. Up and down." In decluttering we found 2 photographs of extended family from about the time of my birth. So glad to recover these, grateful to dsonil especially for very careful decluttering.

Harriet - If she has been on the antibiotics for at least 24 hours then she is fine to be around other people... even if it is still red and irritated.
MT - what is your blog address? I would love to see the pictures.
Hello to everybody else!
ERGH!!! I am soooo frustrated!
I completed my taxes but since the Federal Government has not updated all the forms I have to wait until at least Thursday to check and hopefully submit them. Well I guess I should do last years state taxes and get those submitted...
I am getting a return I just kept forgetting to send them off.
I am tired even though I took a nice nap. Gonna sleep in (I hope) tomorrow.
ToDo/TaDa

Re: Saturday February 2
Well drat we rented a dvd h. said we had not seen it but we have. ~sigh~
Today we got the bird netting on the deck to keep chickens off it and in the back yard.
Were invited to sil's dad's bday got stuff for and made a salad.
Did not get a walk in today and did not get my ex. bike miles in so will do that in a bit.
Re: about dd's cruise they will not do one again it sounds, [they did not like Hawaii either everything is too expensive there]; but said they will go back to Mexico, Casamel sp? The water was the best there for snorkeling Sil loves to do that. He mentioned that after getting off the ship his "sea legs" were still active for three days. [It's like that on a train too.]
