Done dinner and practicing the anthem. It still has a lot of work to be done on it. For the last time through, dh said, "Okay, we'll take it from the top and not stop, even if we make mistakes." About 2/3 of the way through the first verse, his smart phone alarm started (sounds like an old fashioned ringing alarm clock), to remind him he had ten minutes until the conference call. It starts really quiet and gets louder and louder, the longer you leave it. We got through the first verse and most of the chorus before it got too loud to ignore. Dh stopped playing as we went into the chorus the second time, in order to shut it off (it was in his pocket) and I started laughing, remember his "not stop" line.

He's on the call now. I'm supposed to be editing the sermon. But thought I'd check in here first.

Got back about 1/2 hour ago from celebrating dbil's birthday. Glad to be home and will soon be off to bed. DH is going deep sea fishing tomorrow with some guys from up home. It's 2 hours plus away and I'm staying here. Feel bad that I'm not going with him but there are things I need to get done on the computer. And I haven't felt that well besides. DD, dh and I have all had a virus of some sort. Actually dd went to urgent care last night because her glands are so swollen and her throat was bad. She wanted to be sure she didn't have strep (for my protection).

I'm just rambling tonight. Can't even think what I've been doing.

DD is turning off wi-fi soon to be sure gd isn't on her ipod. So will do a few things on here and get off. Have a good night, everyone!

Quick post without cuop. It will take me a little while to read from my last ci. I hope everyone has been well.

We had a nice drive from FL to VA arriving on Saturday a little after noon. We drove about 11 hours before stopping overnight on Fri. Of course I waved to Scattered as we drove by her city. We didn't hit any real traffic until we got through Richmond. It sure was nice to see everyone; we've really missed our dgkids, and of course ds & ddil. Saturday and Sunday we just rested and did a little shopping, groceries mostly. Monday was the advancement ceremony for dson. It was nice, formal, but not elaborate. There was one other band member who was there for his new rank also. They had a small reception afterwards with cake and cookies. He had the rest of the day off, so we stopped for lunch on the way home.

Today it was back to normal, everyone went to work and school. Dh and I stayed home, but we did a little housework and I payed some bills.

I'm going to cuop for a little while and see what I've missed the last few days.

Sunny, how long are you staying up there?

(Twins) I just can't imagine your challenges right now. I'm glad DMacs is alright. You don't need that on top of the rest.

I got most things done that I wanted today. All the errands run. Banking done, charge bill and mortgage paid. And the best thing of all the library is no longer closed due to whatever construction they were doing inside. I just went to the author I was reading and picked out a stack of her books to bring back.

Unbelievable how calming getting into a book is for me.
Unbelievable how calming living in a clutter-free, clean house is for me too.

I am probably less than 15 minutes from company-ready clean house. I just knew it would be easier once I got it back under control.

WTG, Harmony!!! I wonder if I will EVER have my house "under control." It is not cluttered, really... although my bathroom vanity definitely needs some serious work... but really, our house LOOKS very neat. It's just... dusty. And "deep cleaning" is NEVER done. * sigh *

I keep telling myself WHEN I RETIRE... things will change. And I certainly do hope they do... but it is sooo difficult to get MY routine to mesh w/dh's routine. PLUS the total NO-ROUTINE that describes ds/ddil's lives and draws us into grandma/grandpa-duty. Which we LOVE. But y'all know what I'm talking about. PLUS again -- this summer, who knows WHAT may be in store, between our travel plans and ddad's health concerns.
But I know... things WILL settle down, eventually. At least, I certainly hope so.

DS just called; he & dh are on their way home, but will probably not get in until around 2:00 a.m.
I just do NOT have the mental alertness needed to reconcile the checkbook statement or grade papers. I think I will wash bottles, get my clothes ready for tomorrow, and camp out on the couch. (I'm afraid I won't hear dgs if he cries, if I go to our bedroom.)
Tomorrow is another day.

I have eaten my Chinese and gone to Chuck E Cheese. I got some crochet done there and got DD10's birthday guest list. I have picked up meds, taken trash out, washed LOL (but still need to put it on drying rack). I have also done cat care, fixed lunch, and cleaned up a hairball incident. Before I got to this site, I reserved a CEC birthday party. However, it is still processing and I have CUOP, checked for a compiler, made tea. I am very worried about this reservation. The session for the reservation just timed out! I don't know if I have a party or not. Unfortunately, I have the confirmation email going to work, so I will have to check tomorrow. I have a very bad feeling about this. I am going to see if I can get a Visual Basic compiler now.

Tomorrow, I will have to buy the roof tar and order a cake.

Next up crochet/video with the cat.

harriet: Thanks for the advice about mastic gum powder. I will definitely ask the vet!
