Ash Wednesday - Looking within

It is interesting Kathryn. One year I went to a tiny lenten study group. There it was sharing a journey as we looked at various things, and reflected on how we might be there better for others. Among other things.
The link talks about the early days too. And explains the fasting a little. I think some went meat free as their fasting - but I am guessing at that with the recipe book as my guide.
I think I'll just try to eat what's right for me, leave off the others. And try to eat earlier in the evening as Harriet does. So more structure in my daily timetable seems to be at its crux. And am looking at community type groups, and reaching out to others helpfully. I have felt I've been doing too much "out" in busy-ness, and need look where I put my energy.

Tomorrow is looking like a jam-packed (but fun!) day for me. I'll post here b/c I'm not sure I'll get here tomorrow:
- 7:45 both girls have orthodontist appts.
- take girls home so they can drive to school
- Caribou - pick up 2 cartons of coffee
- church: set up for moms group brunch, have brunch, clean up
- remember to pick up a commentary from a pastor for my upcoming moms group teachings
- go to friends' house to pick up the balloon creation for dh/our family - before or after lunch
- meet another dfriend for lunch at 12:30; hopefully, be done by 2
- have an hour at home; start crock pot with leftover pulled pork
- pick up dd14 from school at 3:30
- dd14 to sewing design lesson 4-5; I will either go for a walk or go work on Hebrew in the library during that time
- home by 5:25; get dinner on the table, eat, and leave by 6:25
- go see Broadway's traveling production of The Lion King, starting at 7:30!!
- Home. ..10:30??

Yes, dd14 has the 2nd part of a math exam on Friday. . ..

I need to get ds' card and valentines day chocolates ready tonight. I'll give them to dh to give to him. Dh has lunch with ds every Thursday. Actually, I need to get the girls' ready too, which means I have to stay up later than them. . . .

I've been on the go all day and haven't stopped to CI. Good day. My body is finally over the virus and energy level has returned. I've been double timing it and enjoying every moment of feeling good.

DMom changed her mind today and encouraged me to question the change in DDad medication (effective tomorrow). I immediately made phone calls and connected with 3 different medical people. DDads meds will still change tomorrow, but we are comforted after talking to medical people that we trust. I also learned what Mom refers to as DDad "melt downs breathing" has an official name - Cheyne–Stokes breathing. When I looked it up I found it is one of the signs indicating end of life. No surprise. DDad has been on hospice for almost 5 years.

Today I took LO daily journals he has been writing in since August 2012 to DParents for them to look through so they could see how LO has progressed in his writing. DDad sat and looked through every single page. He stopped several times to point out to LO how much he has improved and encouraged him to keep it up. #Treasured Moments

I cooked and served 3 healthy meals from scratch today. Feels good to be back in routine.

I roto tilled one section of the garden. I had to stop because it was too wet after yesterday rain. Having wet dirt is a wonderful problem to have!

Ran to town and picked up gift for 5 year old girl birthday party tomorrow. Also grabbed LO a tball stand, bat and balls. He got in several practice swings after supper tonight.

DH is at church and I need to tuck LO into bed. Sweet dreams to all!!

Hi everybody!

Ended up staying home. There is food here and a big cozy king size bed with a goose down duvet.

I took the bed for a 4 hour test drive. It's all MIke's fault. He's not here and therefore the tv wasn't on and it was just so peaceful and quiet... I was reading a book and my eyelids decided to close.

I am back to work tomorrow.

I apologize for duplicating a thread this morning for the Lenten challenge. The two threads have been merged. The thread is now found in PWYC unless anyone objects and wants it moved to a members-only area of the boards. My being so busy today meant that I didn't manage to resolve all this until this evening.

I'll take this moment to remind people that anything posted in the main forums (i.e. all the forums except the Members-only and Sharing Joys and Concerns) can be viewed by anyone who finds us on the internet. Finding us is hard and most of us use handles, not our real names, but this is the internet and there is no filtering of who could theoretically read your posts.

I'm off to bed now. I discovered that I had already managed to view the first two episodes of Upstairs Downstairs (probably off the PBS site), then watched another, so I have just 3 episodes left to watch. That's much more manageable before Tuesday.

Tomorrow is another horridly busy day so I'll probably not be posting much.

Cowinkie, I noticed that about the clothes also. Specifically most of the women wore dark colored stockings. I'm sure swishy skirts would detract from the dogs movements and/or distract the dog? One woman I saw had a very pretty pant suit on. Did you notice 99% of the handlers (the women) were quite chubby? I wondered about that.

We had Irish Setters. We had a few litters of pups. We had a boarding kennel too. We never got much further than lots of puppy shows and then maybe 6 or so bigger shows. It's an exhausting hobby. Long hours of travel, long days at the show. I would not do it again, but I have a lot of memories.

Sunny raised and lived with one of the puppies from our last litter. They were beautiful dogs!

I'm really glad to read how much better you are feeling, OKAY. You sure bounce back quickly.

Hello again! Today certainly changed in an instant! I got a call from XDH that DD10 has strep throat. I will be staying home with her tomorrow. This afternoon, instead of going to the parent teacher conference, I had DD. I barely had enough time before that to get the minutes and notes for the animal org out. I decided not to deal with the email reply and called the person while DD was watching something. When I got home (DD wanted to stay at XDH's house, which has netflix), I ran the dishwasher, a LOL, brought the trash cans in, took my shower, ate fast, and dashed off to the animal org board meeting.

Tonight's essentials are: wrap DD's presents, cat care, put/throw/give away stuff from a box. Other useful stuff would be: write card for dNeice and check a tax form. Tomorrow, XDH will deliver DD early in the morning. Later we have a vet trip with dFosterCat13. Since DD will be there to spot me, I will try to get some roof work done. In the evening, there is a church meeting. Friday will be another crazy day, as well as Saturday.

helia: I did post my valentines gift to myself earlier, but I don't mind posting it again. Crochet World has a DVD of all their issues from 2001 to 2010 that I bought. There are 1500+ patterns (like I need any more!) and it works out to be about 3 cents a pattern.
