Re: TGI Friday!
I am up and going early today because I need to leave early to get to a patients house by 8:30 and she lives 30 minutes outside of town. Last night I skipped class came home did my homework, an urgent assignment for the Navy, ate some dinner, and then went to bed.
Poor DS20 locked his keys in the car but by the time he contacted me I was suffering from yet another horrible headache, rather than jumping up to go rescue him I sent him the info for the USAA Roadside Assistance. He must have made it home... since he is here. Our Roadside Assist is usually really great and typically only takes 20-30 minutes to arrive, and when he texted me he still had 2 hours to work.
Time to get ready to go, have a GREAT DAY VILLAGERS!

Re: TGI Friday!
Much cooler here this morning. Think I heard 30's for sometime this weekend. Cool after near 80 for several days.
I should be in getting ready for the school run and getting my hair done, etc. I'm tired and have a few things weighing me down and find it hard to get going.
Certainly looks rain is a distinct possibility this morning. Have to work at church this morning.
Cleaned the laundry room yesterday. DH built new shelves for dd a week or so ago. Managed to get things put away back in there. There was a TON of clothes to be folded (and stacked). Hopefully dd will find time to put them away this weekend. There was a basket of clothes that I wasn't sure were clean or dirty (clean). So I think I'll fold those (all gd's) today, stack in the laundry basket and put them by gd's room. Hopefully they'll at least make it into her room.
Know they'll never make it to her dresser.
Yikes nearly 7:30, better run>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Re: TGI Friday!
Skipped exercise, again, today.
Was feeling ok and then I ate. I feel sick after eating every time. And my appetite is down as a result. Dh started to ask pointed questions, reminding me that was what it was like when I first started coming down with the hepatitis. The only difference is that this time I was physically ill last weekend so might be recovering from that, and last summer the only time I was physically ill was when I forced things, hoping to bring on some relief. Anyway, I have a ton of blood work requisitions so I will go in and get one done on Tuesday. No point going today because I won't get results until Tuesday (Monday is a holiday here and the lab is closed.) I'm supposed to get blood work done this month anyway so if I'm feeling better on Tuesday, I'll still go because the specialist is looking for a reading from Feb and April before he sees me in June.
House is in bad shape. There isn't a part of the house that doesn't need cleaning of some sort.
Paperwork is a mess, as usual.
I'm expecting a phone meeting in an hour over finances so need to prepare for that.
Managed to kill my cut tulips by not watering them. Sigh.... I got them on Wednesday and checked the water yesterday morning but by today they were dead. Dramatically so. I didn't realize I had to check the water level more than once a day.

Re: TGI Friday!
Good morning, villagers ~
(Kathryn) Sorry you're having such a rough day.
Yesterday was the 12 year anniversary of my adventure with black ice. I in my compact car and the big 18-wheeler behind me on the interstate did a little interpretive dance together on the ice that did not end well for either of us. The car was too old to have air bags, but the seat belt held. My car was totalled -- but because he hit my passenger side instead of driver's side, I only spent 1 day in ER with mild concussion and badly bruised/jammed right arm/elbow from where he pushed the passenger seat into me. Still hard to believe there were no broken bones and I just had to wear a sling for a couple of weeks. I loved that little car, poor thing ... and it obviously was well-built protection.
Sorted through 4 big boxes in storage yesterday, reduced down to 1 1/2 and either donated or recycled the rest. Also inventoried fabrics bought at the library's little sale; they all need to be washed before using.
Worked a bit on sewing group budget last night. Watched the new Big Bang Theory as well as an older one I'd recorded. Then I turned to youtube and watched the 1st episode of BBC Edwardian Farm and was able to crochet while watching.
Over the last few weeks I've watched all of the episodes of Victorian Farm by the same group of historians, and I enjoyed the whole series very much. This group also did Wartime Farm (1940s) which I found fascinating. We don't get any BBC channels on our cable so hopefully youtube will continue to be free while I get caught up on these good programs.
Today's 7x7:
* Write letter & send check to children's cancer fund in memory of DNiece who would have been 23 today
* Email & DPC to schedule speakers for sewing group meetings
* Final adjustments to sewing group board agenda & send out
* Continue working on sewing group annual budget, try to send 1st draft tonight
* Errands: post office, library, bank deposit for library group
* Call Mom
* Turkey sandwich for lunch; black beans & rice for supper

Re: TGI Friday!
Good Morning!
This morning is off to a good start. LO's morning routine is becoming so predictable that he can almost do it without any prompting from me. I still help him here & there because those are the moments that get snuggles and hugs inserted into his AM routine.
Everywhere I look, there are tasks waiting to be done. I'm going to use my routine schedule that have themes assigned to each time slot so I can work on them in groups.

Re: TGI Friday!
Hope you can get in some nutrition, Kathryn!
BookSaver, we're so glad you're interpretive dance is only something you mark now as an anniversary and not a wreck that was any more damaging!
I do feel grateful it is Friday. Seems like this has been a particularly hard week. Now dd will be out of school a bit and no 5:30 alarms following late nights.
scattered - editing because I realize it's a 3-day weekend. Do you have 3 days?
The "Anyone Else Doing Lent?" thread has become a "Sticky" thread at the top of the Across the Cafe Table forum, above PWYC on the board index. It's a good place for long-term discussions, as Kathryn said in her post last evening. I'll wave my hand as probably the one most worried about it staying in PWYC, so blame me if the move is inconvenient. Kathryn left a "shadow thread" here to redirect anyone who still looks here for it.
Dd14's school is in lock-down. Very formal phone call and emails from high school principal today explaining that areas of the school are being systematically emptied ahead of 2 Canine law enforcement teams combing the school for "any objects or substances that will compromise the safety of our school". So I am assuming drugs but wondering about bomb scares. He was very clear that dogs will not ever be near students. Hadn't thought about how some parents might react to find out a police dog was near their child - I guess that might be upsetting. Goodness, a high school certainly does have drama sometimes, doesn't it lucylee?
The headline news is so astonishing today. Meteors, asteroids, people kissing the ground in Alabama.

Re: TGI Friday!
Morning y'all...
Harriet, sometimes a kid will write something on a school's bathroom mirror, or wall or toliet stall like the word "bomb" and the school has to lock down. Sometimes the "word" isn't discovered until after school is out in the afternoon and the school gets locked down the next morning. Here as I am sure else where, the swat teams bring their dogs in at night so they can practice their drills. Teachers are warned to clear the building by a certain time...usually around 6pm and then the team shows up and practices. Its not something that is advertised, but it is hard to explain to the community why there are a bizzillian cop and k-9 cars in the school parking lot at 8pm.
Most kids are not freaked out when they see the dogs...sadly it is something they have become accustom to. Plus after the drill is over the police are usually visable to the kids, The cops tend to encourage the kids to come up and pet the dogs. Good PR stuff.
At my other schools in AL the district wanted teachers to check lockers for bombs...not kidding here..I wouldn't do it. I said it wasn't written in my job description and I hadn't received any training. Other teachers were intimadated by the administration and never question the practice.
Just got off the phone with my son. He will flying in next Friday to compete in the Phoenix Tough Mudder. I will post the link below. Its a 12 mile obstacle course designed by the British Seal. The event takes place every month in a different state and is even international. It benefits the Wounded Warriors here in the states. Its philosophy is with team work anything can be accomplished. You can choose not to do a certain event, like jumping into freezing water or jumping off a high deck and you are not penalized. People from all walks of life participate. My son asked me to join him, but I told him I wasn't in shape to do it. However we are looking at some dates further out in the year that we might be able to team up. Its not for everyone, but something I know I would enjoy. And it would make a spectacular memory for my son.
Pro Bass or Cabela's is having their big spring event today. Can't remember which one....They will have their camping tents displayed and I need to purchase one before the first of April for my rafting trip. I know what I am looking for, but hate the idea of buying something in a box without being able to put my hands on it. Especially something I'm planning to spend a lot of time in.
Sweetie and I had a wonderful Valentine's dinner... Great conversation and very tasty food. Took me a long time to go to sleep last night and Sweetie treated me this morning by feeding the puppies while I stayed in bed. Now I'm up...need to do a few more things and then its off to do some shopping. This kind I like.....
If you're interested, scroll down and watch the video. My guess is many of y'all who have guys in their 20's already know about this.....

Re: TGI Friday!
I hope all is well with the high school and students, Harriet. It is good to know they're being careful.
The Lion King last night was phenomenal!! The animal costumes/puppets were amazing, so cleverly done. For example, each giraffe was basically a person walking on stilts with "stilts" on their arms as well to make the 4 legs. And they really had the look and shape of a giraffe!! Some ingenuity went into them, into all the costumes. The dancing was awesome too, such amazing talent. The dancers acting out the lions had very cat-like moves. It was SO enjoyable to see such great creativity and talent together in the same place for a few hours last night. We didn't get home until 11 pm, though. This morning was rough as the girls were tired, and dd17 was in "a mood" when she left for school. We have all caught a bit of a cold so she wasn't feeling the greatest. I think my cold is already on the upswing though after 2 days. Maybe others will be better soon too; we do ingest a lot of natural vitamin C here. I keep a bag of oranges and a small crate of clementines on the kitchen counter at all times, and I know we're eating them at a fast rate. Dd14 ate 3 oranges the other day.
Oh, thank you for the reminder about the asteroid, Harriet! I'd read about it earlier this week and wanted to follow its news today. Very interesting; I thought I originally heard it was the size of a football field, but I read today it is the size of 1/2 a football field. I hadn't heard of the meteor in Russia though.
So far:
x check written for dd17's AP exams
x said good bye to the girls
x 1/2 a.m. routine
x WW - I'm actually down 0.2 lb. I have no idea how that happened; I haven't been for 3 weeks and I thought my weight was up. . .
x bank
x library
Next:
-finish a.m. routine
-lunch
Later today:
-gym; it is a bit cold for me to jog outside today, even though we have a little sunshine.
-Hebrew work; I usually do it on Monday, but this Monday is looking pretty solidly full: may be hosting out of town friends for an early lunch, then taking dd17 to an info session/tour/portfolio review for UM's school of art & design 12:45 - 3, Hebrew class at 5, book club at 8.
-work more on my pile of old letters on the desk; I've been doing a few each day
-general pick up around the house
