Asteroid - If someone had asked me a few weeks ago whether there was room for an asteroid to pass between me and the satellite I use to call a friend, without bothering anything, I'd have hedged a bit, unsure about it. After all, the International Space Station orbits in between there, too. Here is the perfect example of the adage, "a miss is as good as...", although this time 17,000 miles. I think what most people really learn today is that "our" satellites are pretty far away. Also we learn something about the audaciousness of some people, lol, as there are actually scientists who are going to shoot at it, and yes, they are American. (Of course they are.) They'll only shoot a laser but that will give them some information. Still, if I were an asteroid and some guy shot at me for trespassing, the info I'd send might not be very neighborly. One of these things hits us every 1,200 years, and since everyone, right now, is talking about 600 years in relation to the story about the last Pope to retire, it doesn't seem like such a long time.
Oh, I forgot to tell Valentine events in the high school world. Dd and her dear friend rebelled against the feelings of inadequacy for girls who did NOT get a rose delivered to them yesterday (they could be purchased only by students, from the Booster club, and were the only gifts that would be allowed to be delivered to students) and they each bought each other a rose! So they got to walk around the school with a flower whether a boy had noticed them or not - they had noticed each other! I thought it was the best use of $2 I'd ever heard. Interesting phenomenon was that a boy got angry seeing dd with a flower. He demanded an answer to who had sent it. Interesting. Another interesting phenomenon was that the advertised roses turned into carnations by the time they were delivered.

Must be getting spring fever, although spring is a long ways off for my location! Sorted out the bed linens. Time to get rid of 2 top sheets, the bottoms of which wore out long ago. Found a new pair of pants that are so comfy. I had forgotten about them. It pays to take inventory around here sometimes!
No cooking today as I have leftovers. That makes me very happy! I am so easily amused and entertained sometimes.

Good morning! New habit for today: remember to use DD11 instead of DD10. I stayed up too late, crocheting the underskirt of dNeice's doll dress. It has to be redesigned because the pattern is for Barbie and she wants it for American Girl doll. I only got a chance to look at one issue of my Valentines present to myself, but in that one issue, I found a pattern for Barbie I want to crochet. (When? I have two postponed projects, one in progress for my neice, DD11 wants me to make her a vest, and my other neice will want a doll dress for her birthday.)
Maids are coming today. Yeah!!! I will have to clean the sewing room myself. DFosterCat13 is in isolation there. I did get a sample from her that I have to deliver this afternoon. She is taking her pills. Thank goodness for Pill Pockets! Today is also payday (we get paid once a month on the 15th, kind of strange), so I will need to update Quicken and move some money to savings.
My lunch friends cancelled today. That is just as well, because I could not have made it. I am picking up DD11 for lunch and spending the afternoon with her. She will go with me to deliver the sample to the vet. At 5:30, we need to pick up her cake and the party at chuck e cheese starts at 7:00. I also have to feed her dinner. The party comes with pizza for the kids, but she does not like CEC pizza!
I guess I will do Quicken and work on boxes after the party ends at 9:00. Tomorrow is the usual cat adoption clinic stuff.
I've been to the chiro and also made an appointment for a massage on Tues. before I see him again next Wed. He couldn't work on hips as bruising was too bad from last treatment. I bruise so easily now that Dr. has me on aspirin everyday.
Time to make some goodies for next week. Going to try Rice Cereal treats. Haven't made them since kids were little. But they go a long way and I was able to get Cereal on sale last week and marshmallows on sale this week.
So glad the house is done. I finished up moving the contents of the cabinets around yesterday and it is all neat and clean. Still have some left over things in the den that I don't know what to do with. There is some room under the sink - but I have to find totes or something to put them in.
Made veggie soup yesterday in pressure cooker and made very mushy veggies. Cooked them for too long. Taste is wonderful, however. Just have to adjust cooking time next time.

Forgot to report that our cordless phone is not working right so before my long call this morning, dh and I swapped the cordless phone that belongs to the business with the household one. I'll have to replace the business phone, but I have some time for that. Of course, the switching of the phones uncovered another place I haven't been cleaning properly.
Also forgot (I think) to tell you that I made my first gluten-free quiche yesterday. It was a success. Dang thing didn't seem that complicated to make (I always thought quiche was tricky.) It would have been healthier with the broccoli the recipe called for, but it tastes great as is.
Over lunch I started the second last of the Upstairs Downstairs episodes, and then worked on the kitchen a bit while the episode finished. I didn't get much done, just one corner cleaned and the dishes done up.
I went upstairs to go to the bathroom and realized I hadn't made the bed so got stalled up there for an hour. Got the bathroom cleaned, brushed my teeth, stripped and remade the bed and tidied the upstairs. So that part of the house is ready for vacuuming and dusting.
Came downstairs but didn't get back to the kitchen and dh is using the deep fryer now, in that corner I had cleaned, so any progress there is going to be wiped out.
I'm back to working on the sermon. I'm working on the edits which appear to be major. The joke, on which the whole thing hinges, was over dh's head. That isn't good. Now I have to figure out another way to introduce the theme. Sometimes my brain sees connections in things that other people don't see. That makes my sermons out of the box but the goal is to not make them too out there.
I think the sermon is done. And I have a glimmer of an idea for the children's story.
Next up, prayers, but I'm too tired to write them now so I'm going to vacuum and dust upstairs. Sounds weird, I know, but housework can be therapeutic. Then early bed because I'm babysitting tomorrow afternoon.
Today has been busy I had some early errands today got those done and a store run, then hit a yd. sale on the way home found a book with shapes for cut out wood projects I can use the pattern for other things like towpaint on the chicken coop and for a tote applique.
I got a new how to do some drawing booklet and spent some time with that today. I took apart a notebook and punched out the holes for a planner for a spiritual journal. So I'm thinking of doing some drawing.
Wanted to come by and say hello and see how everyone's day was.
Mine was pretty bad actually. This being the internet and all, I can't be specific. But we got disappointing maddening news in the mailbox. Hard-working honest people got the bad and dishonest trouble-maker person got the reward. I didn't think I could be so mad. And I didn't think I could get myself back on an even keel today.
After DH struck out with his meager effort trying to fix this, I got in car and spent hours at a couple places with very limited results, more disappointment. But I sent him down to an appointment, which disappointed him further.
All I can say is I'm mad at our federal and local government and disappointed in people in general, with the exception of you ladies of this village.
No, I'm not being audited! But I have been wondering why I haven't heard from our CPA yet.
I'd like to think tomorrow will be better, but the results of today will be with us at least 3 weeks and if it isn't fixed, for years to come.
