Keeping the Emptynesters and Sadies in my thoughts today.

Today I need to go to the fabric shop in a neighboring Tiny Town. I had planned to do it yesterday but the roads were too slick. Then I thought I'd wait until Monday, but now there's a high probability of freezing rain on Monday. Must buy a gift card for door prize for Tuesday's sewing group meeting, so today is the day.

I've checked to see if I need any other sewing supplies while I'm there, but I haven't been able to do any sewing for months so have not used up any supplies. I guess I will pick up thread, that's always useful.

I think they have a hardware store over there. If I can find it, I'll look for a toolbox on wheels. A couple of other sewing friends have really neat boxes they use to haul their stuff to retreats and sewing circles. They said they found them over a dozen years ago at a hardware store, so I've been checking various places as I've been out and about. Can't seem to find anything the right dimensions -- they're either too small to be of any use, or too large to fit in my car, or too heavy for me to lift. The search continues. If I can find the perfect one then I won't have to carry my projects and tools in a bunch of tote bags that sprawl all over the floor under my table at retreat, I can be neat and organized and find things. (In theory )

Other weekend plans:
* month-end financial reports for library group
* month-end financial reports for sewing group
* catch up financial files for sewing group -- to be ready to return to the official Treasurer when she gets back home from Texas (not sure exactly when she'll be back, but I want to be ready to get that box of files out of my office asap)
* continue sorting through office archives to find things that can be weeded
* figure out what to wear to sewing group meeting, make sure it is clean and wrinkle-free

Babystepping my way forward with this downsizing.

This morning I updated the 'moving book' (two birds in one, I had a "Nothing Book" from the 70's that I've never used, except for two pages, so I'm setting that up as the depository for all our current moving stuff which I'll then toss after we move!) with the info from our reconnaissance on Tuesday, plus a moving tip from the website unclutterer.com which may be my new favourite website. Then I sent an email to a real-estate agent who handles luxury rentals as well.

Also measured dh's dresser and will move it back into our bedroom this spring when we sort through clothing during the seasonal change. We'll remove the electric fireplace and the side table from our bedroom to make room. This is part of our learning to live in a smaller bedroom. Not only is our current bedroom a very good size, I moved his clothes out to the exercise room several years ago because he never shut his cupboard doors or drawers so I decided that rather than whine or nag, I'd simply move them out to a room where I didn't have to look at the open doors/drawers. Now I have to get used to living with him fully again!

Now I should s2s. He's at a church breakfast and will be home soon.

My heart goes out to Sadie's dh and Mr. Emptynester in hospital situations this morning. I can just imagine - I dislike those smells, those surroundings, that bustle and wait. Wishing them both quick and calming news.

I slept in, and now begin the process of trying to reset myself for Monday's 5:30 alarm again, lol. Making another run at this, and must just ignore HRH's schedule next week. He's cute, but sleep is better for me.

helia, how early do you arise with your girls? If you need to go to bed earlier than you otherwise would, does your dh keep the same schedule or just adhere to the one he needs? Or do the girls just not have a very early school bell? Ours here is 7, but the campus is so large and the guitar must be put away first on the opposite side of campus from first class, BUT you can't let a child out there, so a zig-zag walk time must be planned into our mornings.

Dd is enjoying a preview showing of The Croods, which gets to theatres March 22 and is already considered a strong contender for next year's Oscar for animation. So I'll have her give us a review. She will be a tough sell, because Brave won the Oscar the other night, and she was head over heels for Brave.

It snowed here all morning, but with temperatures rising, I shouldn't have a problem with all the driving I'll be doing. I'll be picking her up at a Chick-Fil-A half-way between this destination theatre and the regional library. Then she and I will scoot off to the library for her meeting there. Very grateful to the other girl's mom for being helpful in that regard.

Lilac, did you end up getting the needed moisture from your snow? I hope it wasn't too much difficulty for your family in driving. How is your dh coming along on all the tiling he wanted to do?

Lynlee, obviously I like "Good habits are worth being fanatical about." But the Seuss quotes are so wonderful, inclusive and affirming, aren't they?

Somewhere in all the goings on here, I have missed something, Kathryn, as to your selling your home etc. Bring me up to speed please?

I think I'm in dire need of a new computer, but really hate putting the money out for one. Now the shift key is barely working -and only now and then. DH just keeps telling me to "just go buy a new one". Easy for him to say -he may make the bulk of our income, but it is I who pays the bills.

DD is going to school for a while today and taking GD. GD is then going to spend tonight & 1/2 of tomorrow with the same teacher friend she stayed with a couple of weeks ago.

Dh is snoozing in our room. I'm just practically doing nothing, but need to do something. Very dfriend would not want to see me just vegetating for sure. We would go to Epcot tonight (in her honor -she loved Disney) but it's going to be too cold for us. We'll honor her memory there when we go to honor the memory of our dgdZoe. DD and I try to go for at least a little while on her birthday, April 15th. We both have passes and it's less than 40 minutes away so it doesn't matter if we only go for a little while. Think temp tonight is supposed to dip into upper 30's. So up and down lately.

DD got a pot roast going in the slow cooker earlier and I'm beginning to smell it. So glad we got that in before our phone call this morning.

Think our taxes are done and probably e-filed by now. Thankfully have a nice return coming. I will try to put it 'out of sight' again toward a new car. Had quite a stash last year toward one and this would have finished the savings, but dh decided to use what we had for an 'investment'. Just hoping that investment pans out sometime this year.

Glad snow will melt enough for decent traveling, Harriet. For some reason Charlotte News is now coming up on dh's FB page, so noticed snow flakes were in the air.

So far this morning I have answered a couple of emails and created a Major To-Do List which I put on my Desk-top background so that I will see it when ever I turn on my computer.

I need to s2s, take my vitamins and figure out what exactly I am doing today.

I got GREAT news yesterday. I have been worrying about finances ever since I lost my job back in December, my new job is great but it is a $12K a year decrease from my previous job. I have been praying for guidance as to whether I am doing what I am supposed to be doing. I have been looking at the house refinance and my car being paid off (sent the last payment yesterday ) as signs but I wasn't sure if it would be enough to keep us afloat. Well, last night when I got home there was an envelope from my Student Loan and even though I don't usually open them (I pay online) I did and it was a statement telling me that my loan payment has been deferred until June 2014!

I do hope everybody is okay. Seems like an awful lot going on in the village these days.

I just spent a good bit of time on the telephone and email letting everyone know we were cancelling tomorrow's study. DH is just not doing well. He sounds really bad. I just gave him another bowl of turkey soup. He has to be near dead not to have an appetite, though.

It's grey out and cold. I don't think that's helping my mood.

I guess I'll go to that wedding and then come back home. It's a longish ride out to the spot they're having it, but this is the son of my neighbor going through the divorce, so I don't want to forget the whole thing.

Major cleanup in kitchen happened this morning. Need to run to the store to pick up some groceries, we're out of milk.
