Daylight Saving Sunday

I'm one of at least 3 in the village that don't change time. AZ just has to be different. But it makes it harder to remember my 3 children in 2 other time zones - I'm always adding and subtracting.

It is a beautiful day here and I've slept most of the afternoon away. But I felt that I needed it. DH was watching NASCAR and I was reading and the next thing I knew it was almost 2 hours later and he had turned on the Beautiful Instrumentals on XM. Nice way to spend a Sunday but it didn't get my dishes done. Oh, well, they will wait for me.

Church was good today. I signed up for the month of April to be the lead Deacon. That got me and DH hugs from the Deacon Chair. She has been having a hard time getting people to sign up. We had a pot luck today, but, since we hadn't been to church last week, I didn't know about. There was plenty of food so I didn't feel bad about not helping provide. It was nice not having to worry about lunch and I have left over Chicken Noodle Soup for dinner tonight.

Next up is Ice Cream in about 1/2 hour. It is a great social time every Sunday night.

Always an adjustment when the time changes. On the one hand it does seem nice that it's nearly 7:30 and still light out.

Haven't even cuop yet. Left for Jacksonville with dd and gd yesterday morning about 6:30. I elected to come home last night -feeling things would be better for dd and the rest if I weren't around. DD & gd stayed at the hotel with dh. I got home around 10. So nice to see our 'boys'. DS-R hugged me and whispered how sorry he was I'd had such a rough winter. That was nice! He's always so thoughtful anyway. Know he feels for his dsis and dh as well.

Expect dd, dh and gd should be back before long. It's a 4-hour drive from Jacksonville. I expect ds & gs were done somewhere around 4 today. They'll be heading back to NY as soon as they're done. Think the weather is pretty good for them going back -definitely not on the way down.

DD & DSonIL should know by tomorrow or Tuesday if gd is accepted at the Sheriff's Youth Ranch. They're (and we) clinging to that hope. Hopefully it's a good answer for gd.

I started feeling yucky toward the end of church today and thought about just leaving to come home. Did 'book' out of there as soon as church was over. Came right home, stopping to pick up a 'frosty' which I've sipped at all day. Sat down to nap a little. Woke up a couple of times -but 'napped' until after 5 o'clock. Don't know what hit me, but know I was definitely 'under the weather'.

This week dd and dh are going to Orlando for the TSA competition. Leaving on Wed and hope to be home early Sunday or Saturday night. GD will be spending overnights with dd's teacher friend. It will mean a lot of extra driving for me, but probably better than her being here with dsonil & me for several days. Sad.

Time to put my feet up and head back for a while again. Just took some more t ylenol so hopefully it will ward off some of the 'awful' feeling.

Hmmmm bet those dishes will still be there -of course unless the dish fairy happens by, MT.

I didn't finish the last round before dh suggested we walk the ddogs, and when we got back from that we went on out to eat. I feel like I've petered out but need to finish up what I've left undone.

I think I will empty the dishwasher in the a.m.
-reboot laundry and fold/put away clean laundry
-straighten MBR

Tomorrow will be a rough morning - early wake up plus finishing stuff up before dcleaning lady.

Discussion w dh tonight at dinner about me "retiring." I think it may be time, and I think he concurs.

Guardianship hearing for my ddis is (finally) set for March 20.

I was in the garden for almost an hour this morning. Weeding another section of singapore daisy from the grass (I can't call it lawn) is mighty tedious. Picked up yard in case its fine enough to mow at some stage.

My state doesn't do daylight savings either - to the annoyance to some - in this and other states. I'm not even sure when the change date is. Some of the tv info comes up as if we have daylight saving - so I guess when I no longer need compare tv time with reality and then do a sum for when a program finishes - then its over. Personally - I'm glad its not in here.

Hi everyone!!

I wanted to get a lot done this weekend, but I don't think I succeeded.

I did get to W M yesterday, and then I went to a grocery store that was having an entire flyer full of stuff for $2 or less. (Buy 5 for $2, Buy 4 for $2, Buy 3 for $2...) I needed 8 grocery bags to get all of that home for less than $70.
I also stopped at a drug store and got Mike some distilled water. After all that, I stopped for Chinese food on the way home.

I also got the packing started. 4 suitcases onto the bed. (2 regular and 2 carry on) Then I started pulling out the clothes.

I cried. Seems we had a dampness problem in our closet at the end where all my cruise stuff is since late November. I ended up having to do 4 loads of laundry. My white camisole had black mold all over it and even after washing it in bleach, it had to be tossed. Everything has been hanging on the shower rod for about 24 hours now to air out. ~sigh~

Everything got pulled out of the closet, looked over and put back in.

Only one suitcase got packed. It's a small, hardshell case. It's crammed full and weighs 45 pounds. There is no way we will get it to 50 pounds. The 2 carryons will have most of the clothes in them after what happened to someone I know not long ago. (Airlines lost both of her suitcases and they finally caught up with them right near the end of her trip.)

Thank you for the birthday wishes for DH. He had a good birthday. This was the big 60 so he was loving teased that he qualifies for senior discount at most eating establishments. His day started with a phone call from DGD2 before the sun came up this morning. She started his birthday off by singing to him. DH thought that was a wonderful way to start his new birth year. DH birthday lunch with family was perfect. He was grateful for everyone coming and helping him celebrate.

Church was wonderful. Extra good message. Our young preacher has went through a time of personal troubles and trials, but is now coming out of it and returning to his previous ways. He carried a "sorting stick" with him today throughout his message. A prop that everyone there understood the usage and was very appropriate to emphasize his points. Hours later I remember the message and have been thinking and musing upon it.

Looking at "big rocks" this week -
** Tuesday & Thursday ball practices start.....it starts LO baseball career (if he likes it and chooses to continue to play). I'm reflecting on the years of attending gazillion of ball games with DSon as he played 17 years growing up. I cant' comprehend going to another 17 years of ball games. However I have been pleasantly surprised at a slew of things that I have done again and immensely enjoyed with LO. So taking a deep breath and grabbing a handful of gumption - -- here we go!
** Master Gardening classes end this week (last class is Thursday). i have very much enjoyed these classes and am looking forward to doing the 2nd half of the training next year.
** LO weekly meetings with counselor continue. She is confident she can help him. I am already seeing results.
** 5 school days then spring break begins YES!!!

Spring break started on Friday here so, between that and illness, I only had one child in the Sunday School. She is a favourite and understood the meaning of the lesson perfectly. I'm not feeling very well, so to have a nice, quiet, lesson, with such a good outcome made dragging myself to church worthwhile.

Dh did another boil so we have 12 oz of syrup again. Hopefully, this time it won't turn to sludge overnight. It only took 4 hours from start to finish. We had a light dinner since lunch was so big and dh did up all the dishes. I'm still working on cleaning up the stove top. The burned on sugar is not coming off easily.

We are now 17 hours behind NZ so dh is working away with them on their Monday morning now. I'm still having trouble adjusting to that. I keep putting things off to evening (traditionally my high-productivity time) and then not being able to work because he's on conference calls and I can't be too noisy.

I got another bookcase sorted through and a second one mostly done (dh still has to run an eye across one shelf of it.) I had forgotten my bookcase in the basement which is really bad since they are all books I scavenged as book I should read but I haven't got around to doing so yet. Not sure how I'm going to decide whether to keep or toss.

Honestly, we've had a pretty good day... managed to get to church on time in spite of the time change...
naps & papers took up the afternoon...
errands -- CVS, dparents' house, dmil, groceries, etc...
talked to dparents on phone...
And now finally, groceries are all put away.
I do have some school work to do & I need to get busy with that.

I sorta like the time change -- the longer afternoons cheer me up, as a rule... but dh HATES it with a passion... and he is right -- we all do suffer sooo much from allergy trouble that it is a bit ridiculous for me to hate winter like I do. And I also hate getting up in the dark again -- but by the time we go back after Spring Break, maybe that will be over. I'm hoping I can start walking more with the extra hour of daylight and the warmer temps. That would help me in a multitude of ways.

Oh, ((Cathy)), I'm so sorry, what a disappointment! Hope there is not too much permanent damage.

helia, I hope ds returns safe and sound with many interesting stories to tell.

Besides the 2 who gave the shower (dbil's wife and daughter) there were only 7 other attendees and two of those were the groom's grandmothers. One lady did come to the hallway with a present but didn't enter the room, saying she had a grandchild waiting in the car. Although it made me wish even harder that ddil had come, it did sort of let her and ds27 off the hook, since none of the other cousins came either. (bride's family is several states away)

The presents were sparse too, of course, so I was glad we brought 3 different packages to open.

I was astonished at the grandeur of the home and wondering if dneice's husband has suddenly won a sweepstakes, since I know dneice is a young public school teacher. But at the door she explained it was his parents' home. I wish she'd put that on the invitation instead of just saying her house. I had turned around in their driveway and driven back the other way looking for their home, because this was a mansion! Even with the low turnout, again the food was extremely sparse. That particular branch of the family just can't seem to believe people will want to eat refreshments. After a long drive, I was hungry and felt I had just nibbles to eat there. Dd14, ever practical, had had a sandwich beforehand, remembering the previous shower with them.

Lots of good conversation kept us there the full 2 hours. Dbil was baby-sitter and joined us later. Dd14 is especially fond of him.

Still have to grade some tests, but they are short answer and will go fairly quickly. I know it will be hard for me to get ready to sleep tonight, anyway.
