Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don't wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether it's at work or with your family. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored.

Don't let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in the way of your doing it. The time will pass anyway; we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use.

Tuesday Triumphs
Just begin.
Living this day, today
Take a reality check; Remember to breathe; Do what I am able to do.
Look for the good in all.

Re: Tuesday Triumphs
Good morning to everyone!
I feel I should apologize for my rant last night! I'll leave it, just so y'all can see what my day(s) have been like lately... but later on, I realized, I am in my PMS week, so that probably accounts for a lot of the bad attitude. PLUS the fact of daylight savings time & being severely sleep-deprived.
I didn't get much more sleep last night, either... and my weight is up this morning... but I am determined to make this a better day!
LOVE the quote on time... the time will pass anyway. So true.

Re: Tuesday Triumphs
Lucylee, I was thinking overnight that you and your dh are also "sandwich" generation and you go about all your eldercare (both MIL and your parents who are in crisis) and helping your ds and dil w/o whinning like I've been doing. I'm sorry to be such a downer when I come in here. I feel like I have to keep it all together at work and when I finally get here I can let it out. But it doesn't make for pleasant reading for the village to always hear me weepy and grippy.
And Harriet is so cheerful and upbeat and I know she has 24-7 eldercare going. I want to be like Harriet! Hoping if I don't have work pressures on my plate that I can be more upbeat - that would really be good for me, wouldn't it?
Last night when Lynlee mentioned grieving I realized that is exactly where I am and I hadn't defined it that way. I found some childhood photos of dsis that I'll take to work and tack up by my desk...perhaps purposefully remembering her as a child will be helpful because I think that's a big part of what I've grieving for. And now I'm all weepy and depressing again.
I am heading out to walk ddogs, and then on to work.
BTW, Lucylee, loved your row of smilies or not.so.smilies last night.

Re: Tuesday Triumphs
((lucylee)) Hoping today is a good one for you! I still wish you could be my kids' English teacher for one year - or more.
Thank you for the quotes, Lynlee. Yes, the time will pass anyway. . . That is a good one, I agree, lucylee. Newcomb's quotes re: airplanes/flying were interesting too! And dh does keep a pad of paper and a pen on his bedside table b/c he gets some of his best research ideas in his sleep. . . . .
((Twins)) You have a lot going on with dsis and dmom and work and elderly dogs and kids in Universities and responsibilities with the synagogue. I admire how you keep it all together! Yes, I can see grieving over dsis being important. ((HUGS))
Dgirls are off. Dh is still in bed.
My day looks pretty low-key. I do need to finish a menu plan for this week and get to the groc. store. Exercise did not happen yesterday so it would be good if that could happen today. Dd14 has her oboe lesson late this afternoon and tonight is date night here; I'm going out with dd17.
I'm off to work on the a.m. routine.

(((Twins))) you never need to apologize to us. We are here to be your sounding board and biggest cheerleader. You have a lot on your plate at any given time. I just wish there was more that I could do for you than just listen.
I need to color my hair this morning. Also need to run a few errands.
Good night Lynlee. I always enjoy your quotes.

Oh, Twins... (((BIG HUGS)))... No -- you never have to apologize for anything here! I'm just like you said... we have to be "nice" to coworkers... and, to a certain extent, spouses & children... and then when we enter the village... * WHEW *
And I agree -- I think about HARRIET w/her 24/7 eldercare. I just don't think I could do that! I absolutely KNOW I could not do it with the grace and good humor that you show, Harriet...
And Sadie -- when your dmom was living with you...
And Dee, in a particularly challenging multi-generational household...
Ooohhh... there are sooo many WONDERFUL examples and inspirations here in our village.
You all keep me going, and I do hope to be more like you "when I grow up."
Thanks for the hugs, and thanks for the sweet compliment, helia. I wish I could have your dchildren in class, too!!!
Well... it is time to go see the dchildren I do have in class.
One of our superintendents once said, "Folks, they are sending you the best they have. They don't have other, better kids they are keeping at home. These are the very best they have... and it is our responsibility to give them the best WE have." I try to remember that.

Good Morning!
((((Group Hug))))
This morning has started well. I'm following hourly schedule and feel optimistic. LO is finishing his breakfast. It's time to get out the door to take him to school. I'm counting my blessings that this is easily accomplished without any clingy/crying.

Re: Tuesday Triumphs
To bed really late and then really rough night's sleep.
I'm in workout clothes (not because I worked out but I was on the bike for 5 minutes) and having my tea. I barely have a voice but the coughing has been a bit better this morning.
Knees are acting up but that is sort of to be expected because I've introduced 2 more exercises and these are the strengthening ones, not pain relief ones.
Did I mention I can touch my toes now? After only 4 days of doing the first round of stretches (2x per day) I was able to touch my toes, something that I couldn't do a few weeks ago (it is a once-in-a-while stretch I do as my regular exercises.) The difference is the number of repeats and how long I hold the stretch - with my regular touching toes stretch, I hold for 15 a couple of times. Instead of holding for 20, 6x, then 3x a day.
I also have the feeling things are piling up on me health-wise since I have the knees (which demand so much time for physio), my chest cold (coughing, aching, no voice, general yucky feeling plus the promise that it will come out of me at some point) and my period arrived 4 days early to top things off (cramps.) Oh, and the general exhaustion from the hepatitis which seems to demand 9 - 10 hours in bed each day, still.
I have Presbytery tonight and it is a very long way away (about 40 miles, diagonally across the city from me.) It is a program meeting which means I don't need to be there for business but I would like to be there when people arrive to promote the library. Still, it is an hour long drive for an hour of work. Dh is going to work hard today and see if he can take me and then we can go out for supper after and come home without staying for the meeting. As the day goes on, I'll assess how I'm doing.
