Good morning everyone! I see it's afternoon for some of you! Weather here is anything but spring-like. In fact it is snowing. According to Weatherbug the temperature is 30 degrees. I am not about to go outside and check on our thermometer!

Have a 1:30 appointment to get my toenails cut. Read "pedicure minus polish." We used to have free toenail care at the local Senior Center, and the program was cut for economic reasons. This is my first time with this gal and I don't know yet what she charges.

Next thing: go practice. Sunday's coming!

Good afternoon, online buddies!

Things are progressing here! Finally made a decision on new bathroom vanity, countertop, sink, and faucet. Chose something in stock, so it will likely be installed next week! Have been paralyzed with indecision. Finally realized that no matter what I chose, it would be an improvement! Dh and I have been unable to use our sink upstairs for weeks now. We still forget to brush teeth on main level before going up to bed and have to make many extra trips up and down the stairs.

Also called the tree guy. Need to cut down a few more trees before they fall on the house--especially a dead tree that we didn't notice before.

Dh started on taxes last night and it looks like that is going to be easier than he thought. Thank you, Lord! :)

Did a quick touch-up of cleaning here yesterday. Vacuumed one room and swiffered whole house. That will be good enough until next week. Also changed sheets and did one lol.

Have a good weekend, everyone!

I'm doing better than the past weeks but still taking things very very slow.

I got both LOL hung up. Nice big full loads this time. I got the front porch all swept, moved furniture out there, etc., and this time I gathered up all the dead leaves and took them to empty lot across the street instead of jut sweeping into the yard to be blown back in.

Desk chores done, another bank account reconciled and a few bills paid. I got all my insurance stuff together, faxed off a paper to insurance company to keep our rate the same. The $ is very high when you are our ages and have pre-existing. So far I haven't found that this new health program has helped us at all.

We have insurance agents coming tomorrow to look at things, see if there's something cheaper for me and supplemental for DH when he signs up for Medicare in a few months. I have worse medical care with insurance than I did when we didn't have any. Deductibles are so high, I do not take care of things when I should. When I didn't have any insurance, doctors would give me the medicare rate anyway, they were kinder...

Alright, off my soap box. I think I'll go read my book for a few minutes.

Blessed, are your DD's staying in Fort Myers? I always thought they went to the East Coast.

Sigh... Unexpected delays today knocked any momentum I had out of me.

Got up at 7:45, stripped and remade the bed, ate breakfast because I was hungry, made a business call, started a stew for tomorrow night in the crock pot, did the exercise bike and physio, s2s, and then made up the grocery list. Called my senior friend and went to pick her up. Got there at 11:20.

Since we were driving by the park where the sunrise service is supposed to be, I drove into it. Except I didn't because the parking lot entrance is blocked with snow. The river is also frozen over. We really can't have the service there because 1) it is a bit far to walk in, about 500 yards, and 2) it won't be pleasant since the river is frozen over - we'll just be standing in the middle of a frozen field. I don't have a plan B.

Drove to the market town and did her banking, then to McD for lunch and I read the grocery flyers and planned our attack since we had multiple stops. I did the cheapest store first but skipped on buying frozen goods, I only had 6 items in total, all loss-leaders. It is still below freezing here but it was sunny in the first part of the day so I couldn't count on things staying frozen in the car.

Stop two was bulk food store, dollar store and bank for me. I did the banking while she did the dollar store and we were to meet in the bulk food store. I went in there, did my shopping (3 items) and put my stuff in the car and found her at the dollar store. She had a list but walked every aisle and added tons to her cart. I ended up with two items of which only one was a 'need.' Oh well, it was still only a few dollars. Back to the bulk store for her, where she got the few things she needed and then walked every aisle.

Then on to Wally World. She didn't walk every aisle but she did walk all the grocery aisles. I was picking up frozen things here (price matching from the first store) so I waited until I sent her to the checkout, then picked up my frozen stuff and still, I got through the cash before her because she had gone off to check out men's wear. I loaded the frozen things into the car, went back and walked out with her and loaded her things into the car.

Next stop was our last. At this point I managed to restrict her to walking only 1/2 the store. Plus I made her shop for flowers while in the check out line (I could unload the cart if the line progressed before she was back.) I phoned dh while loading the car and told him to meet me by the door.

I pulled into home, dropped off my frozen things, then on to her apartment to unload her things. That took a long time because there was so much. Then back home to unload the non-frozen things from my car. Dh put away all the groceries for me.

In total, I was gone 6 hours. It would have taken me 2 - 2.5 to do the shopping if it was just me (including lunch) but she's so slow and wants to go through everything in each store. She is not price comparing, she is just shopping. And the more time she spends looking the more she spends which I find frustrating since she has a limited income. I get upset seeing her spend money unnecessarily and most often on junk food. I shop loss-leaders so it kills me to see her spend $4.99/lb for pork tenderloin when my price is $2.99 (I know that is way more than most of you would spend but prices are higher here - for instance, I got my frozen turkey on a deep discount sale of $1.99/lb.)

I also find walking slowly exhausting, so I'm completely exhausted, was hungry and ended up eating a box of snack crackers. The whole box. Plus a bag of mini carrots I had bought to eat in the car and then didn't want to until I had washed my hands which felt really dirty from pumping gas and all that shopping.

I ate my whole dinner too and am now feeling stuffed. Go figure!

Anyway, I just want to go to bed. I have physio to do, plus cleaning up the kitchen and also some housework if I can get the energy for it.

Dh's month-long project has been fully delivered and it is Saturday in NZ so he has until Sunday afternoon to do what he wants. He's watching a movie for the first time in 4 weeks. Tomorrow afternoon and evening is singing. Then Sunday is church so he'll have lots of time away from work this weekend.
