Thinking Through Thursday

Today is a meaningful one. For some it is the meaningful day, Maundy Thursday or Holy Thursday. For others it is a continuation of the meaningful time of Passover.

Time for contemplation, and for considering the calendar and our place in it right now. Time to think through what we hope to find ourselves doing and feeling in the near future, as seasons unfold. Time for planning family gatherings and sharing with younger folks who depend on us.

In the meantime, we remember that our daily chores and routines become even more valuable when the calendar is full.

What "thinking-through" are you doing to get ready for the day today?

Good Morning!

Not much thinking going on here yet. Just trying to get my mind back into normal routine. DSon and family left late last night to return to their home. I talked to DMom before I went to bed and she was making plans for today and had started planning a big project for next week. Her new normal is being created. All is well.

Today big rocks -

** MPB
** DH to his weekly shots
** LO to T-ball practice.

Everything everywhere is out of order so my first focus will be restarting the basics (dishes, duds, dinner, desk).

I am starting to get into the swing of getting up 30 minutes earlier. Work has been very overwhelming this week, partially do to trying to learn the ins and outs of my new position and partially due to the fact that my previous position has not been filled yet so I am doing two jobs. I have visits and 2 admissions today, and then I need to leave work on time (been staying at least an hour late each night this week) because I have class.

This morning I don't have to leave until 8:30 which will be nice.

Scattered, call me later this morning when you have a chance, we can chat it up then.

I am up and awake, but that is about it. I have several things I need to do, just trying to 'think it through' and figure out the best way to go at it. Basically, I think its a clothes (laundry) and errands day. I need to take dd's king comforter to the laundromat as they have the triple loaders, I need to drop off an address list as dd's dmil's house and I need to run over to the benefits office at work and straighten out my FMLA paperwork. I also want to get alot of laundry here taken care of so as to free my weekend up. I need to decide what I am wearing tochurch on Friday night and Sunday morning. I need to run by the candy store to get things for our Easter platter. Geez, I guess I have alot more todo than I thought.

DH just left for work and DD is in the shower getting ready for work. I will get going as soon as she is outa here. Shaping up tp be a busy day. (That will teach me to think )

I'm up, s2socks, am running the dw since we didn't do that last night and finishing breakfast. I'll have to come back and spend more thought here.

Dh got home safely last night. That is always a good thing. He's leaving again on Monday to visit his dad in the Netherlands.

Ds will come sleep over here Saturday night and then be here for most of Easter. He has an exam on Monday, but it is a class which is not too time consuming or challenging for him. I shared with him how the high school's chess teams dominated the state meet this year, and he was not surprised since he knows the kids on the team. He was on it when he was in high school; they did quite well at state meets then too but never swept them quite the way they did this year. I'm proud of them! They're not my kids but I'm still proud of the team!

Today, I have moms group all morning. Then, I'll be out again from about 3:30 - 5:30, picking up dd14 from school and taking her to her sewing/design lesson. The teacher's home is rather far away. She's finishing up a skirt she designed. She hopes to wear it for Easter! If I can figure out how to post a craftsy photo here, I'll try.

Maundy Thursday service tonight at 7 pm; it will be a tight turn around after dd14's lesson. Fortunately, I have a simple supper planned for tonight.

Off to try to beautify myself and gather things for moms group.

well hello dear ladies... We have sunshine in Chicago yes yes yes.
according to the national weather Chicago area - we have had 85% cloudy and party to mostly cloudy days. There may be frost all over the cars, our roofs and the ground but we have sunshine and the temp is going up slowly (now 22 deg) yay!!!!

Sending sunshine literally and from the heart to all of you as you start and end your day.

I dropped out of sight yesterday afternoon, I suppose. I got an email asking if I'd come to choir practice and bring anyone else who wanted to come, to add more members in rehearsal for Maundy Thursday and Easter music. Both dd and I went to practice.

I doubted her ability to become familiar in time, since she has not had what I consider the normal church experience with reading music from a hymnal or psalter every Sunday, and often doesn't even know some rather common hymns. (our church went over to wall-projected words when she was little, a decision I still think was an error.) Noting that tonight's piece is "Tis Midnight", which I consider difficult, didn't encourage me. But her guitar classes have served her well, and she was able to just transfer (her word) what she knew about reading music from that class to reading for choir. She said the choir practice, in the pianist's home, was "like Mayberry", which is a great compliment to all the people who were there - very welcoming, kind friends.

Reading yesterday evening's posts, I sure hope villagers who have aches and pains gets better soon!

helia, it would be delightful to see one of your dd's designs. Nice to think your dh gets to visit with his father.

Today is the last day of school for dd before spring break. She has two girlfriends who have suggested get-togethers, so I need to think about that. Otherwise, we are behind in laundry here, especially dd. This week of mid-terms and last-minute scrambles to finish surprise projects has really taken all her time. The rest of the house and routines need to be reeled in.

Sounds like everyone will be busy today. Us, too.

DH is getting ready for "Breakfast with the Boys" and I will jump in the shower next. I have a man coming to help me with the yard all day today. I need to get some things premade for lunch so I can throw it together easily.

Then I have a bead class at 1 pm.

We also have church tonight at 7.

Hear DH is out of the bathroom - so I'm headed there.

We're skipping Maundy Thursday service in order to babysit (actually, we are babysitting to avoid the service!) I like it, but not every year. And tomorrow is the big service here, three churches and processing with the cross in between (and three anthems, one in each church.)

On the other hand, dh and I are singing today. Got at call right at 9 asking if we were free to fill in for a cancellation at a senior's lunch. So from noon to 2 we'll be eating and singing. And developing a set of music in the meantime. I asked and we can put in a few Easter hymns.

I was vacuuming when the call came so that is all done and the table is decorated for Easter (and the front door wreath.)

We'll be having 7 or 8 for dinner tonight, not sure which.

Still need to clear off and set table, choose music, s2s, physio and assorted other stuff. At least the housework is done.

I can barely walk today but it is definitely back affecting knee. I had to use a cane until I got heat on the back, then the knee cleared up until the heat bag cooled off. Luckily one of my heat bags can be strapped on me, so I can move around and am not limited to sitting or lying in order to get the heat.
