Effective on Tuesday

Post by Harriet »

Are you ready to be at your most effective ?

We've always heard that might happen on a Tuesday :) and the evidence piles up. Jenson Business Efficiency Consultants has compiled evidence from recent studies that show the most likely time for people to be productive and ready to participate, and also willing to accept obligations, is Tuesday afternoon.

Want to pinpoint your efficient times further? They say 3:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon is likely our most effective, productive moment! Why? Because "the pre-lunch energy level has resumed". (We were evidently sluggish after lunch, and during the morning we might still have been sleepy!)

Gee, now that I know an exact time, too, I can plan the nap I'll need later. ;)

At home this morning. DMacs is sick and we're heading to the vet in a few minutes. I worked late last night - until almost 10 p.m. and slept very, very badly. Macs was up and down and in and out throwing up all night.

Good Morning!

Harriet - very interesting! 3pm Tuesday. I'll have to keep that in mind. I pick LO up from school at 2:50 everyday so 3pm is busy time hands-on mentoring homework, book reading, snack, etc.

((((Twins & DMac))))

Today has 5 appts.....plus the normal duties. There are also some errands/stops that will be fit in between the appts, but those aren't time sensitive. There is one hour between DH ultrasound and picking up LO from school. If the hospital is backed up and doesn't get DH in/out then it will mean an extra 60 miles of driving to get LO from school. Somehow, it seems to work out okay.....somehow..

Slept fitfully as well but didn't have to get up for a dog or a child so I shall count that as a plus. Of course, I don't have a dog or a child (in the house) so I suppose that isn't worth counting!

Twins Poor Macs. Poor you.

When I got to the kitchen this morning, I learned the power had flickered at 11:20. The dishwasher was still running when we went to bed but we were upstairs before 10 and it takes 83 minutes so at worst, the dry cycle was interrupted. There was no water in the bottom so I'm assuming all went well.

I've emptied the dishwasher, cleaned the hot water pot, put away all the canning supplies (since dh is done with sap boiling) and made my tea. It will be nice to have kitchen back. My "blessings" candle holder is usually on the stove but the prolonged boils melted the candle and scorched the holder so it has been on the window sill and I haven't been lighting it. All my morning routines have been shot since January or early Feb and I don't know how to get them back. Putting the candle back and lighting it this morning may be my first step in doing so.

Did 6.2 miles on the exercise bike. I hate doing that and really feel it in my back. But to get my knees better I have to strengthen my quads and in order to do that I have to either swim or bike. I hate swimming more than biking, so biking it is. I'm very discouraged about this whole knee thing. I really thought that going to physio would quickly solve it but I'm really no further ahead after a month. They are fine as long as I do 'nothing' (minimal activity, minimal stairs, no workout) but as soon as I have a very active day, workout or have a lot of stairs to climb, the knees start to hurt despite the 30 - 60 minutes a day I spend on them with physio exercises. Humphhhhh!

Today will not be productive at 3 p.m. I have a lunch with my childhood best friend, then at 2 I'll be at presbytery to gather up the books for the display, then I have 2 hours off so probably will shop at thrift stores for a spring wardrobe. My monthly presbytery meeting starts around 5 with the book display, then 5:30 for dinner, and meeting from 6:30 to 9. I'll be home by 10.

Good morning! a.m. routine is not done yet, but I have done my new start, s2s-ing and having devo study time first thing and before hopping on this machine.

((Twins and Macs))

64 ccc OK. And you are an hour behind me. . .

That is interesting, Harriet. I may capitalize on Jensen's findings re: accepting obligations on Tuesdays and send out an email today to the moms group asking for volunteers for a nursery rooms cleaning party a week from Friday. :) Would it be better if I sent it out at 3 pm??

I have a low-key day ahead of me. I would like to:
- finish a.m. routine
- work on cards for a while, revamp some
- emails: moms group? Th. dinner crew
- do some house tidying; maybe even spend 15 minutes on focus area -- I'd need to look that up
- library to pick up a book on tape
- exercise - didn't get to this yesterday
- dd14 to oboe lesson 4:45 - 5:45
- dinner date with dd17; home not too late so she can go to babysitting job (for friends' small group)

I am at work - Macs is getting fluids at vet and they are doing blood work. He may have ingested something to cause a blockage, or maybe liver failure. :(

Actually, I plan on looking in the mirror at 3, helia, to see if I look different. :)

OKay, yes, school pick-up here is a given between, oh, the half-hour 2:20 to 2:50. So I wonder how I'll be able to express my newfound efficiency. No multi-tasking while driving! Maybe when we get home I'll be a whirlwind. Somehow, I feel that might be quite disillusioning to dd! :D

((Twins Mom and her sweet charge))

Kathryn, from all I've read at least, you are so wise to break the cycle of inactivity/range-of-motion/discomfort, and go ahead and exercise for your knees. I wonder if a joint supplement would help. Those with eggshell membrane are supposed to be good. Also I think Harmony has an opinion on some.

Got all the recycling and trash ready to be taken to the cans. Anyone need a reminder for Trash Day?

(Twins & Macs). Aw. DH takes glucosamine and Chondroitin and I believe I've seen ads for the same in a pet formula.

Well somebody has to be different. I always hit a low 3-4 afternoons. It's always hard because that's the time I'm busy getting dinner together. I hit another low after dinner. Hmmm I'm thinking I'm in a perpetual low cycle right now for some reason. I walked around the house earlier today thinking that I need to do something, anything to get myself off top dead center.

And every day I come here with the same things to say. More paperwork. More more more more... and today so far one dpc made and got an answering machine and couldn't find a corresponding website so I must wait on that...

I think I'll work on purging my files from 2012 so I can get the piles of paper from 2013 so far filed. I've been waiting till the last insurance audit happens, but that seems so so late this year. I've not even received an appointment card yet. We usually get done with this in February. I can't ever remember it being this late.

I think if I could get this OMM stuff resolved I'd feel so much better.

Hope everybody is having a good productive day.

6 days till April 15th, Twins!

I used my most effective time today to write a couple of letters and have them in the mail box ready for pick up!

I also made a call to the Rx about my bs monitor that decided to not work needed a battery. Phew glad I saved a couple of strips from my old one for just in case this happened. So will return the unopened box of strips and get the other free monitor that dson uses we like to use the same kind if we can. The call saved me some headache, stress and fuel so it was worth the call!

Trash is at the curb h. put it out. I rolled out the neighbors for them as they are gone. The garbage truck has been down one side of the street not sure if it's our side or now.

Granny duty will be longer this week until 7 or so as dd is helping her dh with a roof job to get it done by the weekend to keep customers happy.

Dgson did good walking to & from school and had 100% correct on spelling test the week before spring break.

One of the sod companies have been bought out so it's harder to get sod here this spring dson said. So will have to talk to h. about that. Might have to rethink our plan.

I've got to scoot errands & carpool day today.
