I want to be effective today also.

Vet says bloodwork is actually better than in Jan and xray shows no obstruction, altho the large piece of plastic that I found thrown up may have set off this episode. He's thinking pancreatis now, and we will let Macs' gut rest with daytime IV today and tomorrow, and he can come home this evening overnight.

Well I'm finally home.

Not quite the adventure I planned. Did ride the rapids, but in the water with a life jacket that nearly drowned me not once but twice. Was ejected from the raft at the beginning of a 4 Class rapid, all eight of us from the raft hit the water with the rock wall within an arm's lenght. Ended up UNDER the raft, lifejacket up to my ears, with the back flotation over my head. Fought my way to the top and then rode the rapids in 49* water temps.

Nice canyon views as I floated more than a mile before the supply boat picked me up.

Returned to my raft, climbed in and hit the next set of rapids. Rogue wave it the raft and I was flying again. Another gal was tossed in with me. She was terrified of water....I managed to swim to her...nice trick if you can do it...and tried to keep her calm as we swirlled and twisted in the rapids. I managed to grab an paddle for us to hold onto, but the current became too strong. One of us was going to have to let go. I decided she needed it much more than me.

Got caught in an eddy and ended up fighting with the life vest to stay afloat. I was pulled under again and again had to fight my way up. No time for my life to flash in front of me....I was too busy trying to stay alive.

Again I ended up way down river...by the time the boat picked me up I could tell hypothermia was setting in. Never was so cold or shook that hard in my life. We eventurally made it to a beach where I threw myself into the hot sand. I just wanted to become a lizard on a hot rock.

Lessons learned....Always bring your own lifevest, there are times when only you can save your own life, and its amazing how fast the will to survive kicks in.

Would I do it again...yes with my own life vest, in the proper size raft. And I'd make sure all I had to do was ride in the raft...not paddle it myself. Eight women in a 15' rubber raft equals a life tiime experience.

Killer Fang...takin' the hard way. I was dumped between the two rocks.

Killer Fang falls 2008
Killer fang falls is just below Dimond creek in the grand canyon. This is not the correct line to run this rapid

Disaster. I have been to the doctor and have tendonitis. I have been sentenced to two weeks of crochet-less existence. Also I must wear an ace bandage to push fluid back where it belongs. I have to take lots of ibuprofen, but it still hurts where they poked it. I am not supposed to lift anything over 5 pounds. It is a good thing I have the database project to keep me entertained. I made good progress on it last night.

Last night, I caught up on my filing. Today at payroll, I need to make progress on my document. I think the maids come tomorrow and I don't have enough money in the checkbook. I can make a transfer from savings, but I am limited in the number of transfers I can make without fees. I also have to type up the minutes and notes for the animal org board meeting tomorrow.

Tonight is Girls' Night Out with DD11 and her grandmother (my x-mil). I will have to endure Chuck E Cheese with no crochet. Good thing I have a book. One of DD's friends will be at CEC with his Dad and Dad's GF. The Dad will be giving us a birthday party invitation. He made sure to time the party when I will have DD, because he doesn't want to see my XDH. His wife divorced him 3 weeks after XDH divorced me and my XDH and his x-wife have been constant companions ever since, though they do not admit to dating. (Why date, when you are never apart?) She has her own apartment, but much of her furniture is in XDH's house.

Typing really hurts. Even with ibuprofen.

Hello Dear Ladies,

Cloudy but warm today with some storms moving in. The dark sky and my body are telling me that too.

One load of Dishwasher is done, need to unload and load again. did some dusting today too.

I don't have a lot of energy around 3, it is usually my nap time.

Think I will work on a grocery list after that too.

Great day to all!

Cowinkie, you are woman, hear you roar. I can hear Kelly Clarkson singing, too - you are stronger. I'm very glad you fought out from under the raft - that simply won't do. Sit. Be pensive. Write a memoir. Take sponge baths for a while - you don't need a whole lot of water around you for a while.

Elizabeth, we are going to have to find you another creative outlet. What else have you enjoyed doing - what is taught at the art class. Could you carry a sketch pad around and use your left hand... ... photography... ...

Hurray, Macs! Good news. No more plastic.

HRH says, Cowinkie next time stay in the raft; you are not supposed to get out and swim around. He enjoyed the video.

  Oh my, Cowinkie!!! I would have been completely terrified!!! Sooo glad you're home safe!!!

  That's for Elizabeth's NOTd-ex.
(((BIG HUGS))) That's for Elizabeth's hurt arm.

(((Macs)))

(((Blessed's dd)))

(((Kathryn)))

I always hit a low 3-4 afternoons. It's always hard because that's the time I'm busy getting dinner together. I hit another low after dinner.
Oh, me, too, Harmony!!! Definitely. When I come in after school, I am just completely beat.

Not especially effective today, I guess, but I did manage to grade a set of journals before I left school. That was an accomplishment. So maybe the 3:00 PM Tuesday trick really did work!
DH has taken dgs to dmil's house for a little while, and I am sorry, but I just did not have the energy to go. They can manage without me.
Last night dgs & ds were here at our house to watch the Braves game, and I spent a lot of time on the floor with dgs. Then after his last bottle, he was worn out, and he fell asleep with me holding him. That was so unusual I just couldn't put him down, and we sat in the recliner for a long time. Nothing so peaceful as a sleeping baby.

Must find a hotel for next week...

OH!!! Wait -- I WAS EFFECTIVE today -- how could I have forgotten so soon???

LucyLee - CONGRATULATIONS!!!

(((Elizabeth)))) Hopefully the movement restriction will allow it to rest and feel better.

Blessed - Verry well said. I have to let them feel those feelings and let go of any frustration

COWINKLE!! Girl, you are one brave and adventurous soul. i'm glad it ended well.

I am pooped. Plum tuckered out. After arriving home, I used the last of my energy to cover the vegetables before the last spring cold front hits. The weather people are having a exciting time predicting the next 48 hours. Tornadoes, lightening, ice, snow......they are tossing a little bit of everything nasty into our forecast.

Good news - Immediately after DH test, the radiologist did a quick look and gave DH an informal thumbs up. He will do an in depth review and send the official report to Doctor. DH will get complete result on Friday.

Talked with DMom four times on phone, bought several items and delivered them to her. Tonight will be DMom's first time going through bad weather by herself. Another first. She continues to be optimistic.

I am home with Macs in his "cone of shame." I poured myself a glass of wine and have ordered pizza. Need to keep him from drinking much (vet said "small sips" and that's not Macs style) and from eating anything, including grazing if he goes out. He'll get small amounts of food and more fluids tomorrow at the vets.

I am making progress at work, I hated to leave so early tonight, and by the time I'm home I've lost all momentum and idea of going back to work. I think I am down to six or seven returns, some to be extended, some that we'll try to get out and I keep plugging away at them.
