Monday Movement

Post by Lynlee »

Life is pretty simple: You do some stuff. Most fails. Some works. You do more of what works. If it works big, others quickly copy it. Then you do something else. The trick is the doing something else.

I actually questioned that quote from Da Vinci, thinking he didn't speak so briskly and in such a sophisticated (modern ? ) way! So I used Lynlee's link and found not only that quote but was reminded of this one:
It had long since come to my attention that people of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them. They went out and happened to things.

My goodness, the guy was ahead of his time as a writer, too.

I'm feeling well this morning and the school run went well. A little worried about my ddad, who seems to have had something on his mind, unable to rest, since rather early this morning.

At this point, the day's plan is for HRH to return about 1:00 to stay with my ddad and allow me to leave to take a friend to the doctor about 30-45 mins away. She has a daughter in dd's class, and dd will ride home on the bus with her, which will let everyone relax about after-school, knowing the two girls will take good care of each other until I drive back into their driveway. I'm a little concerned, since the procedure she had a few days back was not supposed to cloud her eyesight this much. She had assumed she would be driving herself to this appt confidently, but feels very apprehensive. Her dh drove her home from the procedure, but is traveling for work now.

lucylee made a good point last evening about smart phones. If any of us has weather mayhem that keeps us away from normal technology while scary video gets broadcast, we could ask a child/neighbor/friend for the use of a smart phone to just check in with the village and wave briefly. I don't have one, and I don't think the Kindle could serve the purpose, but I have sons who consider them appendages.

Thank you for starting us out today dLynlee! Wishing you sweet dreams!

Speaking of dreams, dh is on C hantix and supposedly you will have good or bad dreams. So far he has only had one dream that he can remember. He was travelling to Minnesota with an old couple that he didn't recognize and he was sitting in the backseat. He said it was a pleasant trip but he woke up before they arrived in Minnesota.

Saturday I went with dd2, the 2 little girls and dgd16s boyfriend to a neighboring town to pick up dgd16 from a regional music competition. It was to advance to the state level. Of course, we were late. We pulled up, dd2 and the bf took off and I sat with the little girls. They didn't get in, in time. The positive is that the ensemble received a #1 and will advance to state. That is in 2 weeks. Dd2 will need to go the night before, if she goes. If not dgd16 will need to ride the bus home. Last year dd2 took the boyfriend and paid for him a room, so he could help with the little girls. This is one trip I will not volunteer for. Dgdwhowillbe2thisweek has hit the terrible 2's. We went out for lunch and she didn't want to mind. By the time we left the restaurant, dd2 had had it with both girls. She ran into H obby Lobby and the rest of us sat in the car. Later that night she called and was in a tizzy about the trip to state. I told her that dgd16 ought to realize after our experience that day, that it would probably be best if she didn't take the girls and go.

I came in to find dh asleep. His knee was bothering him. It hasn't gotten any better and is swollen. Tomorrow afternoon he leaves for an overnight trip for a managers meeting. If he is on his feet and all over the plant, for the next 2 days, he will be in great (not) shape.

The guy finally came late Friday afternoon and power raked the yard. He had a guy on a mower that was following him, mowing and picking up all the debris. He wanted us to water the yard 3 times this weekend and left flags to flag the sprinkler heads. He will be back today to aerate the lawn. The lawn really needed power raked and it was very evident after it was done, just how badly it was needed. Dh will need to drain the sprinklers tonight because it is suppose to be low 40's for a high on Wednesday with a chance for snow and the lows for Thursday and Friday, are low 20's. Winter just doesn't want to give it up.

Guess I better do meds and breakfast.............

I'm up.

Unloaded the dishwasher and dish drainer. Almost all my plates and cutlery were in use so that took a while.

I'm not s2s, I haven't exercised and there's a load of laundry waiting for the line.

To answer some questions:

Harriet: Yes, the Kindle Fire can be used to check in here - I've done it several times. I can also access via my Droid but the keys are smaller.

Nancy: I get my beading supplies along the way mostly at craft stores but two of my favs are Quartzsite and a bead shop in Rapid City, SD. I'm really not into beading as much any more as I can't find the tiny holes in the bead. If I do bead, I have to use a strong magnifier and that gives me a headache.

Lilac: Nope that would be next year - but I doubt if we are going. DH's health would have to take a big turn around for that. I'm not even sure about this year. We will see after the May round of Drs.

I survived yesterday and am looking forward to a pretty quiet week. I have a dermatologist appointment on Friday but the rest of the week is clear.

I do, however, have to find: kitchen table, sink, counters, and all the other places that have piled up.

Next up: breakfast and meds and then the shower. TTFN

Lilac, I really feel for your dh. I know how HRH dreads it when he's got a hurt foot or whatever, but still needs to walk all over a plant, the concrete flooring, plus up and down stairs.

Well, forget what I said about the school run! Dd forgot her guitar and I raced to the school and back, getting home in 10 minutes while my ddad was napping. That is nearly too close for comfort, though - we don't want him worrying about being alone or worrying where we are. Put an extra pick in the case pocket when I couldn't find her pick necklace. That probably means she has the necklace on, but I didn't want to take a chance.

Now I'm frustrated waiting to hear if she got the message that it's waiting for her at the office. They don't allow much contact.

My friend called with the street name of the doctor's office. I can definitely get her to that street, which is close to my dentist. So if she can figure it out from there, we'll be fine. She is struggling to read the doctor's card, but remembers the building well. And I'll just gently ask for the card before we leave. I can tell she is dismayed and maybe not on her game today. In theory, they are telling her she will be seeing much better after today... hope so. Dd says there is no one better for her to have with her than me, since I suddenly get calm if I'm with someone who's not. LOL! That might be true. I guess when all those around me keep their heads, that must be when I lose mine.
