Hi everyone! Checking in late today, no excuse. I have no work at payroll again and I am not sure if I will get a paycheck next month. That is never good. I had an expensive day with DD11. She wanted to go to an expensive restaurant, then we got photos and the audio tour at the Titanic exhibit. Interestingly, we were there on the 101st anniversary of its sinking. I got a call about kittens Saturday and was hoping to surprise DD with foster kittens, but I never heard back from them. I hope the kittens are ok. Here is something to amuse you. DD and I planted some Bachelors Buttons and green onions in a planter in the house figuring that without DCat18 (the plant eater), we could have them again. Now dFosterCat13 and dFosterCat10 are LAYING in the planter. However, there are seedlings.
I am taking over special events for the animal org and today I have emailed and phone called potential volunteers, and GOT SOME. I had to buy ANOTHER antenna for my XM radio (this makes 3) and install it. Schlotzskys had a tax day promotion, so I got a free sandwich for dinner. I had to buy chips and a drink, but it worked out cheap. Also, since they messed up my sandwich twice (I can't eat cheese and it wouldn't peel off), they gave me a card for a free sandwich later. Double cheap. I've run a LOL and am about to set the dishwasher to going in the night. I have not done any database work, due to the time spent on phone calls. Tomorrow is an EARLY day for me. XDH has a meeting and is not able to get DD to Dragon Singers, so I have to do it. I am grateful I do not have to do it every week. Tomorrow is Girls' Night Out, not sure what we are doing, but undoubtably Chinese factors in.
I think I will put on a mindless video and sew for a while. I can't crochet, but I can sew snaps and lace on previously crocheted items (I think).
cowinkie: I didn't know you lived in Mobile. That's my hometown, I go back every Christmas. I grew up near the malls. Sometime, I hope to take DD there for Mardi Gras again and let her take part in the Rosswood Childrens' Parade. (I used to live one neighborhood over).

Checking in to wave at everyone!!!
Small things but big ta-da's for me today:
* ALL laundry completed, hanging to dry, will take dh's stuff to ironing lady before we leave for our trip
* Vacuumed hardwood floors, plus kitchen & baths
* S/S toilets & dh's shower
* Talked to dmom
* Got dparents' mail
* Kept dg approx 6 hours
* Visited dmil
* All papers graded & grades in computer except for three sets of classroom journals (I should be able to do those while students take test tomorrow.)
* Grade book filled in for LAST SIX WEEKS. My LAST SIX WEEKS EVER.
It has certainly been a crazy, horrible day in our country. Maybe that spurred my need for some normalacy... some sort of order & routine. I hope you all have a restful night. (((BIG HUGS)))

Elizabeth....I lived for a very long time near the University of S. AL. Off the road named after an old "shell" LOL Then I moved in with my bf. She lived over by Cottage Hill Park. Long before that I spent several years living right across from the beach in Orange Beach and later moved to Atmore. You're probably one of the few people in this world that knows where that is...unless you're a fan of Evander Hollifield
I miss Mobile in the spring...red buds, dog woods, azaleas, the works...I think its one of the most beautiful places on Earth. I learned to love Mardi Gras when I lived in New Orleans. While I lived in Mobile I went to Mardi Gras every night and day of the season. There's a small resturant very near the Cathedral. Prior to it opening, the owner owned the Lumberyard. Even though I had stopped working for him when he moved downtown, when I was around for the parades I would stop in and help him when I had time.
I haven't been back in ten years, though I have watched the town grow via the internet and Google Earth. I liked it much better when it was a small southern town. When your area of the city was hit by the tornado this past Xmas, I knew right where you were by your discription and the pictures from the Mobile paper.
