Re: Wednesday Smiles
Good morning, Lynlee! I will try to take the Morgan quote to heart.
I've decided to be optimistic today even though I have some astonishing challenges ahead for the rest of the week. (houseguests, event, travel)
Probably need a Round Robin today. So I may check in often!
May declare an Apron Day!
Kathryn, what an astonishing bit of news for your church last night. I hope things work out, both for her and for the congregation.
I see lucylee and Twins' Mom already have their lights on. Waving.

Re: Wednesday Smiles
I certainly have a feeling of being piled upon at this time. I had been thinking that things would go back to normal after I get back from the cruise (and I could recover on the cruise!) but that won't happen now. Goodness knows when we'll have normalcy return at church.
My minister friend (Rev. D) I'm seeing this weekend gets a big thank-you hug from me when I see him. He moved me from Worship Committee to Ministry and Personnel. That means I have no role in setting up the JNAC (joint needs assessment committee), can't sit on it, can't play the role of go-between between Presbytery (who will actually strike the committee and will declare the vacancy) and have no responsibility evaluating candidates. Once the JNAC make their recommendation, I have paperwork to do, but that is all. In the meantime, I hold all the JNAC files from last time on my computer so will transfer those onto a USB stick to be handed over to whoever will be in charge. Whoop!!!!!
Will I take over in the pulpit if we don't find someone in 12 weeks? Not necessarily. I'm protected by regulations from 'abuse' by only being allowed to do 4 weeks in a row. That's so a church doesn't see the supply as 'enough' and slack off on the search. I'm also not on Worship Committee any more (thanks to Rev. D) so they get to make the decision of inviting me or not, so I don't have to worry about perceived conflict of interest in that decision. Whoop!!!!!
I'm up and on the treadmill early because I suspect today is going to be full of phone calls and emails.

Re: Wednesday Smiles
Harriet - I figure its time for your house guests to lend a hand.
Kathryn - I admit - slightly omg over your ministers decision. I do hope her illness improves quickly.
I am glad you can take a back seat in new minister deliberations. Its always stressful finding / having a new minister.
Today.
Yoga this morning.
clean sheets are on the bed.
I heard rain drops and rushed out to bring washed sheets hanging on veranda edge - where sun had been shining not long before.
raindrops happening most days - the tradition continues. Washing gets dry - just needs extra stealth - and not to be put off by the forecast.
I went looking for a quote with a sense of humor. I stopped looking when I found this one.
Humor is something that thrives between man's aspirations and his limitations. There is more logic in humor than in anything else. Because, you see, humor is truth.

I feel blindsided for you, Kathryn. Yes, it's a good thing that you don't have the responsibility to "fix" this - stressful nonetheless, but you're not the one "in charge." Do you have people who will "rise to the occasion" and get it done?
I'm getting a pedicure in 30 minutes, so need to get moving here. Won't finish a.m. routine or walk ddogs first. It's only five minutes away, tho.
Have been working on the Li&t for today.

Re: Wednesday Smiles
Morning y'all
Hugs to you Katherine your doing a great job.
Yesterday I ended up doing a massive shopping day, and I hate shopping. Needed to find something for my sons graduation a few weeks from now. Also went to the gym and did 4 miles on the treadmill.
I had a most wonderful surprise when I got home.... My very bf from college who I have not seen in 31 years will be in town this weekendr. We were inseparable for many years. During the past 30 years we have found and lost each other many times. She found me on fb a year ago. I can't wait to see her and will most likely cry from emotion when I do..... Very uncommon for me.
To quote her.....I am all jazzed up to see her.
Off to the gym

Re: Wednesday Smiles
We have a number of people who will rise to the occasion to get the search for a new minister. Or maybe they won't. We are leaving the church in a year so I think a 2 year interim minister is in order rather than a call. Someone to walk us through closing down. But that is my opinion (you can see why it is good that I am not on the committee.)
One of my favourite members rose to the occasion last night as we all sat there shell shocked, remembering to thank the minister for her work with us over the past year. He is my blessing - he always seems to know the right thing to say. He's as quiet as can be and not a good leader in the traditional sense, but he is a rock to me and I am a better leader because of his support. Hopefully, he'll serve on the search committee.
Only one phone call so far today. And few emails. Found a reading for the sermon on Sunday and am working on a children's time now. I will write prayers from scratch because they need to address the current state of the world (Korea, Boston) as well as our congregations. Thankfully, it is Good Shepherd Sunday so the readings all stress how we are held in God's hand.

Re: Wednesday Smiles
Kathryn, I am sorry for the recent turn of events in your church. It's too bad that may result in your church closing eventually. What will happen with the other church you share things with? I thought when you moved you would be able to still make the trip to come, but now you've decided to leave when you move? I'm glad you are not expected to take over all the duties.
I'm not really happy with our church right now. Oh, I love it and all, love the things I'm doing there, etc., and have many close friends, but this building program has everything in flux and it feels very unsettled to me. Course, I've always been uncomfortable with any change.
I stayed up very late working in the office. Then I had to make lunches and get things ready for DH today who went out to the island again. So, I slept in late. I don't know if I get more accomplished working late like this or not since the next day is usually a slow start. The only thing I can say is that it took me all day to "get into my working zone" where I make good progress and I was reluctant to stop the progress.
Closet is looking better. There was much shredding done, a couple bags of old things out into the garbage late last night. There is still more to do.
I want to go visit my ladies in the nursing homes this afternoon. My hardest task. I wonder when I'll get comfortable with this.
OKay, I watched the video, very interesting. I wonder, though what would happen if one used the sawdust mineral on the plants in the regular enhanced dirt...those plants would probably be jack-in-the-beanstock size!

Re: Wednesday Smiles
Good morning ladies ! P/c is acting up a bit today.
I've done the first round this morning we are out of
out of stain remover pre-treat stuff & I need some before I can wash one of h's work shirts so I'm off to fetch some in a bit. Looks like he is on for working this weekend so he will need it.
No kids here until after school when dgson comes after school.
He came like 10 min. earlier yesterday said he ran part of the way and nearly beat the bus here.
Near record lows were in the forecast last night but it's sunny
and has warmed up now. I put the plants outside to get some sun. I've also done my 20 min. on the stationary bike this morning. Dishwasher has been unloaded, I've spiffed the bed.
Have a great day every one!
I've been watching Jewelschool while on the ex. bike here's their blog web. add. if you are in to jewelry
