Simplicity Friday

I spent an age reading some of his poems today.
Its his birthday.

Simplicity in character, in manners, in style; in all things the supreme excellence is simplicity.
Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Nationality: American
Type: Poet
Born: February 27, 1807
Died: March 24, 1882

And my daughter's too. My baby is 35.
She once listed her hobby as ironic dressing, and allergies as soap, milk and school.
I think she was right on all counts.
Just begin.
Living this day, today
Take a reality check; Remember to breathe; Do what I am able to do.
Look for the good in all.

Quite a few hopes for today but I need to unstick my tushie (pass the BGS!) and get busy.

I had a long day yesterday - met with rabbi at 8:30, was back home at 10:15 and left at 11:15 for Atlanta. Easy drive - met with social worker re dsis then visited with her for 30 minutes. She is so much better! Not "well" in the conventional sense but able to have a conversation w me, conversing with the staff, and more cognizant of surroundings etc. Social worker says they have documented that she has "Oropharyngeal dysphagia" - a swallowing difficulty involving the mouth. She has to have pureed foods and thickened liquids. So finding a place for her is complex. Social worker is a gem, I think. Told me that she had explained to PTB that this was no different from a diabetic or hypertension diet. So I am feeling better about her future perhaps.

I walked through IKEA and spent $22 - a record low probably. Also stopped on the way home at the local Costco and walked through for a few things. I had only been there once so wanted to just walk around and see all the things they have. Home around 8:30 and tired.

Today I need to go see dmom and be at temple at 5:30. Membership chair who has set up "New Member Shabbat" for tonight IMHO has made a mess of it but at least she's done something. Also should take care of a baby shower present for tomorrow for a neighbor. I am skipping a lunchtime temple event.

-breakfast (how did it get to be 9 am already?)
-clear kitchen table and counters
-call dmom
-return another temple related DPC
-figure out where to go for baby present

Sorry I have been MIA so much lately. I read the posts - but then think that I have nothing to add and my life certainly is boring so I don't post.

Today I have a dermatology Dr. appointment. Maybe she will find out why my legs itch so much. I cut out all soda pop last Wed and it has helped a bit. Now they will probably say I am dehydrated. I did get two bottles of water in yesterday.

We finally took the trailer load of cactus to the dump. At least I didn't get all itchy this time. But I washed all my clothes as soon as I got home and before I sat on any of the furniture.

Time to go eat breakfast and take my meds. TTFN

Have to call back later for DPC. I also emptied dishwasher because I needed it empty to clear kitchen counters, so that's marked off of a.m. routine, and along my sidetracked way, I got my mailbox down to just over 600 emails. Most s/b archived, but I just went through deleting what could go.

This time:
-start a lol
-make the bed
-call vet about dMacs' thyroid med refill
-take out kitchen trash
-s2s

Strange morning.

I worked out, possibly too much, and then discovered I had failed to refreeze my ice packs for icing my knees will have to wait an hour or two.

Ate breakfast.

Handled three phone calls and two church emails. Am ignoring others.

S2S but still have to dry and style my hair.

It is gorgeous outside, a lovely, 'soft' day but no sunshine. I've opened up some windows. Immediately started sneezing!

A wall of water is heading our way so it will be very wet in an hour or so. Dh is going out for visit with a friend in the other day.

Kathryn, use frozen veggie packages.

Emptynester, I didn't remember hearing you had any itchies except those from cleaning up some plants a while back. Yes, if you have something to flush out of your system, it will take water to do it, so don't skimp. You know the drill. How in the world did you get a derrmatogolist appt? Around here they are hard to catch. Hope it helps you.

Happy to hear your better report for your sister, Twins' Mom.

I am hitting nothing but roadblocks trying to get ready for dd's friend and then dd33's family. Sleepy still because of nightmare, which was because I ate poorly, which was because I was too busy.

Happy Birthing Day, Lynlee.

Boston is on my mind too. We've sent emails to our friends there and the Boston Globe has taken down its paywall so I'm following events from the local standpoint as opposed to national news organizations.

I've sent some emails and printed off some more stuff for my files.

Going to figure out a lunch for myself now.

I was sucked into the watching the news and have decided not to go to dmom's this afternoon. Besides, (said in a whine) it's cold outside! (Yes, I need some cheese to go with my whine!)

I walked the ddogs - didn't get them out earlier. DMacs is beginning increasingly slow when walking - I'm assuming he's in pain and had hoped he would rebound after we got the tummy issues sorted out. He may still be low on energy but I am worried about him. And, of course, he's affecting how far I can walk; I may need to go around a bit, drop him off and take Moses further by himself.
