Good afternoon! Weather here is uninspiring. 40s and gray. bleh.

The cleaning party at the church this morning went well. 10 women showed up. 3 watched the little ones in the gym while 7 worked in the 4 nursery and toddler rooms, wiping down all horizontal surfaces, washing all the washable toys, culling broken toys and books. It took us almost 2 hours to finish. I brought bagels and coffee (in a different lounge type room), and the bagels were well-enjoyed! I'm not sure much coffee was drunk, however.

Happy news here for dd14 today!! Results of the band auditions were posted today - and she has leap-frogged over the 2 oboes in the middle band to be placed in the highest band! She had been saying before the results came out that she was hoping she hadn't made it since most of her friends would probably land in the middle band, which seems to be true. The symphony band (highest) is mostly Srs. and Jrs., with a handful of sophomores. This director does not put freshmen in it. SO, dd14 will be marching next fall, which will make her schedule busy. She will try out for drum line later this spring since oboes don't march. This also means she won't try to test out of English this summer. Her schedule will be full enough next year with marching practices and games. She also found out today that her story is a finalist in the library story contest. Dd17's story is not.

I have some extra teenage girls in the house right now. Dd17's small group is meeting here, but only 3 of the girls have come.

Next:
- give the hens food
- wash the towels I brought to the church this morning
- maybe go to the groc. store; we're hosting small group tomorrow night.

I did my physio and then remade the bed with fresh sheets. I guess I might be OCD but I maintain it is more to keeping up bare minimums and for me laundry and bedding is bare minimum.

I had updated OpenOffice while working on the computer today and that broke the spell checker (all words were spelled 'wrong'). There was a spirited discussion about the difficulty of the fix (the guy who complained was right, it was friggin difficult and I couldn't have done it if dh hadn't remembered that quicklauncher keeps a copy of the program I've closed, open.) I did get it fixed but I still hate everything about Open Office except its price.

Back from the dermatologist and I have dry skin dermatitis and something else that spell checker can't find. Both can be cured or at least made livable with a script meds and something called Udderly Beautiful. So I can home with tubes of both. I go back in 4 weeks.

We were able to save $11 at C V S with coupons today. Of course, we spent around $100 but got a lot of things we need.

DH is coming down with a cold so I was able to get cough meds, throat drops and OTC allergy meds for him.

I also got another large 7 days X 4 times a day pill container for our trip to IL. I will need to take meds for 2 weeks with us.

Hmmmm Wonder about the tubes of meds. I wonder if I will be able to take them on the plane?? It is 80 g in a big tube. Kathryn - do you know??


Off to make a light supper - we had Subs on the way home around 2.

Emptynester Yes you can take the meds with you on the plane.

Put them in a separate bag from your regular gels and liquids. With regular gels and liquids you are limited to whatever will fit in a 1 quart bag and none can be more than 100 ml or 3.3oz.

Your medicine is not subject to those limits but should be in a separate bag and with the prescription labels from the pharmacy (or a letter from the doctor for over-the-counter meds.)

My eye meds are all gel and some are OTC but I keep them with the others. Of course, those are quite small.

I'm surprised that the tube is measured in grams. That is a measurement for solids, not gels or liquids. If it is 100 ml, it is under the limit so there should be no issue at all.

The government website should be quite clear. They say you should declare them, I never bother and have never been hassled but I don't fly through US airports that often.

Dh cooked dinner while I struggled with the spellcheck issue so I cleaned up the dishes. The kitchen looked overwhelming but when the 15 minute timer went off, I only had the frying pan left to do.

Of course, we then had ice cream and made more dishes!

Off to start a load of laundry.

I'm avoiding paperwork like crazy.

This evening HRH and I went back and forth between news and ME tv Jeannie until the suspect was in custody in Mass. Now the girls are watching Ghostbusters. Dd33's family is driving through the rain and does not expect to arrive before 11. I have that fridge stocked with milk, juice, diet favorite for dsonil and one Mt Dew for dd33 in case she wishes she had a little caffeine. She is generally off sodas. I folded the laundry load of towels I'd had to leave in the dryer after washing yesterday. House is swept and dd14 dusted some. We changed a lightbulb. Can't believe it, but that's about it.

Earlier, I had made a grocery run and taken the girls to Wendy's after school. Neglected to make the turn to get to pharmacy 2, but said that's alright, we'll do that last. Of course later, packed with two backpacks, a mini suitcase, a guitar case, and many bags of groceries, I forgot. Made it home just in time before downpour. Pharmacy 2 is not open again until Monday. Sigh.

Even earlier, HRH and dstepson put the mowing deck on the tractor and mowed here again, and my parent's house for the first time. In theory, tomorrow it is sunshiny all day and the ground should dry out again, so that if the boys wants to play outside they can. Of course, everyone may be exhausted after being on our feet all day at the Games. I know the boys will want to participate in children's events.

Harriet I was glued to the tv most of the day today. dh & dgson are watching a DVD of "Gettysberg" dgson wanted to see it again, h. is pointing out things dgson may not have picked up on so getting some what of a history lesson out of it. Hoping to find a DVD of "the alamo" for the next time he is sleeping over.

I have babyN. on Mon. at 6:30 a.m. and dgd will be here later on nineish.
I'll need to do a store run tomorrow. H. has to work after all one of the guys hurt his hand.

Made up two batches of muffins for tomorrow for the guys breakfast and h.'s lunch b/c we're out of cookies etc.
