Fired up the netbook to run updates and charge the battery. If we lose power, I'll lose the internet connection but will have time to properly shut down open programs.
I don't use the little portable very often because the tiny screen tends to give me a headache, and I haven't found a comforable way to sit so I can type and still see the screen without hunching. I do like the size for carrying, though, since it is much lighter than a full size laptop.
DH thinks there is a chance that he might be able to fix my dvr that stopped working after a power outage last week. I am clearing the shelves and space around the machines for him to work. Huge monster zombie dust bunnies, eeeek!

I would only add ask LO's current teacher this question: since LO now has a working IEP, if LO was your child whom would YOU want to teach him next year? Then add.... I don't want to see all your wonderful effect not be improved upon. Truss me we teachers always know the answer to the question.
I've been to the gym, run errands and made brunch for sweetie. This afternoon Willis swam and I watched. Going to make an early dinner and then Sweetie and I are off to the movies.

No progress on what I need to have progressed on. Choir went well. Picked up milk so I can stay in tomorrow. Visited at the general store. The owners were to go to England 10 days ago but 3 days before it was time to leave, the doctors told her to not travel and have been doing nasty tests trying to find what's wrong. Hopefully there will be answers tomorrow. Her husband is trying to keep her distracted in-between test by taking her on outings since the store and post office are staffed due to their expected holiday.
Makes dh and I glad we've done the traveling while we can.
Off to get the clothes off the line.
Like Helia, I'm exhausted. Green tea doesn't give me a boost so I'll try black tea.
I've really napped today. Think I need to go home. Missing dh -but it will be nearly a month before I see him.
Hmmm....dsonil said he talked with dh this morning. Dh evidently was on his way home from a Dr. appointment -what doctor? So guess I'll have to present the question later -what's going on? Knew dd said he went a while ago because of being unsteady -that turned out to be an inner ear infection -but he's never told me.
Went to dsisil's for about an hour & a half this afternoon. I'm really not accomplishing much. Been pecking away at GD's room. Have it almost picked up now. Then will run the vacuum really well around the edges & everything.
Need to do some more work in our room. So maybe I'll do that while dinner is cooking for dsonil and me. DD will be late. She has 'bridge care' after school and then has a dinner date with a couple of colleagues. About time she had a little time for herself.
OKay, are those teachers all very young? They sound like they are from your description.
I've been busy. More paperwork. Went to 2 banks. Finally got to the 2 nursing homes to visit my ladies. How long have I been saying I'm going to do that? Nice visits. First one sorta longish. She likes to talk and visit. Sharp as a tack. Can't get around and they have to lift her with a sling apparatus but her mind is A+. 2nd lady is very sweet, but I have difficulties understanding her. Still, I know she appreciates my coming.
Yeah, Harriet, I understand the Pakistan thing and your missionaries no longer allowed there, just from what our guy last night told us. He had lots of news about countries like that in the middle east and places in Africa. We are no longer open to talking about it all.

Thank you for thoughts and suggestions. The teachers are in their late 30-40's. We aren't allowed to name request a teacher, however we can request to NOT have a teacher by name. There are only 2 teachers per grade so requesting to not have one teacher should automatic place LO in other classroom. I don't know how much to push and when to let it go. I don't want to become THAT person that is always complaining. I'm already a little out of normal being a Grandmother instead of Mom. And I sometimes wonder if we have a strike against us because this is the school that DNephew sue'd a couple years ago (he got a lump sum by settling out of court). Since that court case, they changed all administration in the school. They have really gone all out with No Bullying campaigns. However, today two grades were playing together and some of the older boys were doing full body slams and using their fist doubled up to "pretend" to beat the child on the ground. I about flipped out when I saw it. I immediately went to one of the teacher and pointed it out. She said it happens all the time. Kids like to pretend to fight. I tried to convince myself that I was over reacting and it was just play. UNTIL I watched an older boy come running up behind LO and intentionally shove him from behind which resulted in LO hitting the ground face down. I immediately went to the boy and told him NO WAY was that acceptable behavior. I went to the teacher and she talked to the boy too. Apparently the teachers in the next grade consider this to be normal and **almost** acceptable behavior. I am going to ask around for references from a variety of people on these teachers.
Sounds like you are between a rock and a hard place Okay. Are there any other schools?
I think most places/schools here would not view that push and shove well, with automatic reports, detentions or suspension. Mind you I have seen kids in the street choke holding "friend" or sibling and had them tell me it was all fun, or just mucking around. The one being held didn't seem as sure of that fact - in my view at least. Still the other was let go when I have questioned that behaviour those 2 times. I find it a worry. A bit scary to stop and talk to these young thugs too.
My w/e away is friday night - sunday . I need to book in dog still. Maybe if I just go sat am - sunday there is only 1 day, and may be a day less boarding fee. And hopefully just one night of little sleep. 2 nights on minimum sleep is just plain bad news for me.
Dee - its no surprise that dGD is bucking under not getting her own way. Prayers for DD as she holds fast to this last chance to redirect dGD's way of looking at her place in the world. Hoping/Praying dGD does not blow her chances there. She might be young but the time for her to be responsible is now. Praying for all who work there. And the cottage kids too.

Hi Had to come out of lurking to tell Okay that is totally wrong with the bigger boy coming up and pushing Lo down. That is not allowed and pretend fighting is not allowed at school at all. the kids would be sitting out and in the principal office for the pushing and making a fist its not allowed.
I do yard duty and they are not allowed to pretend fight or their sitting and if they keep it up will be talking to the principal, I would go to the principal about the incident that you witness. that is bullying pure and simple.
I lurk a lot and send every one good wishes. Dee i do hope your dd stays firm with leaving gdd at the place. and that in the end it will help her learn.
I just want to chime in with others - a kid pushing another from behind, especially a young one, and kids pretending to hit each other is not acceptable. Our elem. school had a strict zero tolerance for this kind of thing. I asked dd14 about this, and she said a kid who did that would be in the principal's office, but she couldn't remember much of this sort of thing happening. Of course, that was 4+ years ago, but I do remember the strict policy and some mass emails from the principal to the parents about aggressive behavior not being tolerated.
