YEAH!!! CityLady!! Glad to see you posting here!!

I've been meaning to stop and post for ???48 hours??? but every time it seems I get sidetracked before I get it done. Taking care of sick LO has taken over my life and used up any free time that I have. I was soooooooooooo relieved when I walked into LO classroom yesterday and heard 15 kids coughing. Does that make me a bad person? Don't answer that!! I was relieved to hear other kids coughing/wheezing because I don't think LO has asthma. There is no way his classmates all came down with asthma like symptoms at once. After being told LO had asthma by the 2nd doctor I started asking around and had found a child Pulmonologist in big city that I was preparing to take LO to. Since all his classmates have these same symptoms, I'm not going to take LO to the specialist. LO is getting better. I probably shouldn't of, but yesterday allowed him to attend a concert (his class has been planning this for months). I took his inhalers, meds, and a pocketful of hope that he would make it through the concert with no problems, and he did!

I am not going to attempt to get back on schedule yet. First I need to get the 3D's up and going. Baby steps.

City...I knew most of the people from Rumson, especially during that time. Did your DMIL work any where around the area??? Bahr's managed to survive the storm, I eat there every time I dgo home. Hasn't changed much and still looks like it did 20 years ago. Food is still wonderful. When my dad was around he used to fish... recreatioinally...the Hook and sell his fish to Bahr's. Sandy Hook took a beating and I'm not even sure it will be open this summer. That aught to tell you something. I am also very familiar with Keansburg and Middletown. Had friends growing up from there as well.

Hope this doesn't bring tears to your eyes. I'm on a site for Sea Bright Rising....and there is much information about the other areas around there. From what I understand, Keansburg is fighting back hard...but like every place else it has a long ways to go....rebuilding is great, but all the "good carney" stuff has been washed away...

Today is lovely making it a fab. Fri.! Today I've done the chicken chores and morning stuff. Tried to pay a bill but the office was closed b/c of the fair this weekend.

I went to a few yard sales found some chicken print fabric that will be great for egg gathering aprons. SO glad to have the laundry/sewing room back. I cleaned up after moving the chicks out last night.

Dgson is under the weather a bit so is here today. The baby had it earlier in the week as did dgd she's with the other granny.

I hate those floors we bought a few years ago. I think they are my number one poor purchase of all time. I feel completely ripped off.

These are the engineered wood floors. The ones that we were told afterwards were no good for chairs with castors (one room is the office, the other room is the living room with a desk in it.) They can't get wet at all (you enter the living room from the deck and I do so with snowy boots in winter when hanging out clothes.) And they are tough (but not so tough that within a week he was back with a marker to cover up the scratches the installers had put in the floor.)

Anyway, they are getting cloudy in places, now. So the finish looks splotchy. The imperfections are not in traffic areas, nor areas that were exposed to moisture. So I have no idea what happened, just that they are getting smudgy looking.

I have Endust floor cleaner and I used that on the worst spot to see if it would help. It said to polish with a clean cloth and let dry fully before walking on it but after 30 minutes I had to walk over it to open a window because the smell is so strong in the house. So I don't know if the cloudy bits are gone but I then spent ages trying to get the footprints off the floor. Sigh....

I've vacuum and dusted the bedroom level, cleaned my bathroom, vacuumed the main floor, washed up the dishes, fed myself, changed the sheets and the towels and have handled phone calls.

Also put deposits on our Jan 2014 and March 2015 trips. That will finish our cruise around the world.

I have not done any year-end accounting.

Minister's husband called. She won't be back next week, nor, most likely the week after since she gets her test results from this week next Friday. She has been given something to help her sleep because the spinning is keeping her awake.

I let Worship Committee know and am hoping to hear from them as to what they want to do about the May 5 & 12 (I've offered to stay home from the preaching conference in order to work May 12 & 19.)

OK, so I'm doing the inventory on Monday. Had to get some other things done, and the time started getting too tight... I need to be very careful with my energy, and didn't want to push before tonight. Monday will be fine, for this particular job.

Okay, I certainly hope he doesn't have asthma... IKWYM about being glad. I've had a nagging cough since I had flu this winter, and have been comforted by the number of my friends reporting the same. It's not that I want them to cough, but...

Wow, Cowinkie, those are some pictures... I knew the area was pretty much wrecked. I was explaining to someone who lived away from the coast that the problem is - of course all the businesses are along the shore - that's where the business is! When it's the beach that draws people to your town, you build near the beach.

I haven't been watching the Shore as closely as I might have, though - I live in Lower Manhattan, so am more aware of what is happening here. The building I grew up in was flooded, for instance, and is still being repaired... no one had to be evacuated, but they still have no use of the basement. We were lucky - the water stopped the next building over towards the river. We had more just the nuisance of the days with no power, heat, cable, internet, landline, cellphone... (The last few a problem, not for our amusement, but because we had no way to communicate or find out what was going on. The radio was concentrating on their usual driving/commuting audience, and talking entirely about the difficulty of getting gas - not the difficulty of living or working in a flood zone.)

People. DMIL worked at Brookdale college, after she moved down full time - retired and moved out of the area nearly 30 years ago, though. LateDH (who would be 60 now, if he'd lived) and his brother were certainly in and out, but their lives were still more in JC, and I never had the impression they really knew a lot of people around Rumson. I never met anyone there through him. As for my people - it must be 50 years since my great uncle sold his store...

x ds called and I chatted with him for a while. He was asking about when we are going to pick up the pup tomorrow. Then, I got a bit of the blow-by-blow analysis of final exams and projects, which he is now done with. He is done for the year! It has been an excellent year for him. He is growing and thriving in so many ways! His internship will start mid-May. He'll veg next week and then he'll spend a week at camp with his campus Christian group. I think he is being trained to be a small group leader. I'll probably go fetch him and bring him home on Sunday.

Not much on my todo list is getting done, but I am doing a lot of socializing!

AH!!! One more DPC taken care of. I go in for a stress test next Wednesday. I was afraid they wouldn't get it done before time to leave for IL or for the summer. All because I had one 5 minute time period about 2 weeks ago when my BP and pulse went thru the roof. But at 72 and with a family history of heart problems it is probably a good thing to check it out. Not looking forward to it however.

Next up is to finish dinner. I put some pork ribs in the pressure cooker so now I have to take the meat off the bone and shred it and re-cook with a bit of BBQ sauce. Then tonight I will reheat it with tomatoes, onions, and peppers and put in a whole wheat tortilla shell with lettuce. It is sort of my twist so we keep it lean and fat free but still tasting good.

Tomorrow night DH gets a steak. It has been 2 1/2 weeks so he deserves it. He is being pretty good about his diet.

Time to go debone the meat.

I've "helped" dgdson watch animal channel today! Not a whole lot got done but I did do some short bursts of activity moving sod out of the run, replacing it with other for the fryers to enjoy, then moved other and then hens had to help getting bugs and worms out so I've done that prep. before getting the next and last spot dug out next week maybe.

The other child did not need to come but dgdson and dgd will both be here so their folks can go out for dinner so it worked out.

Bought the wherewithal to have 3 large planters for tomatoes and marigolds. Found a lined hanging basket for the other flowers and have just about decided to give dd14 the "galvanized watering can" planter for her fuschia.

Dd14 is spending the night with a friend in the neighborhood that is having the neighborhood-wide garage sale tomorrow. She will be helping with their yard sale in the morning.

Hurray for a happy first year at college for helia's ds.

Went out with dh and bought potatoes and fish since tonight was fish and chips. Also pickles. Must never run low on pickles in my house!

I've cleaned up dinner and note that it is approaching bedtime. But I have stuff to do so won't be to bed on time. Again.
