helia, might the quality of being "more" of a retriever possibly be what the breeder was going for? I know with beagles, breeding for the qualities of dedication to a scent and "harking" (reporting the scent with a bark) well can be the very qualities that prove litters are true-to-breed, but may not make new owners too happy at first! Potty-ing so much the first part of the day may end when she is more comfortable in the house in which she wakes! She probably just wakes up nervous to have a new home! (Hope so!)

By the way, I saw an alien today.
On the way home from school run, there he was, short, obviously walking, then sitting, his head as plastic-looking and oddly shaped as could be. I told myself, okay now, this is new, and I slowed down to stare as he turned toward me. It was a black lab in a "cone of shame".

((Kathryn)) Is it possible someone knows you were going to the conference and wants to make it as smooth sailing for you as possible to put the local concerns out of your mind? Still, you would think when you get back "all fired up" with bright ideas and good advice, they would want your input right away. Good for dh, as usual, to be so aware of your worth!

((Twins' Mom)), well, they're foolish. Sorry, but anyone who takes a meeting to historic low levels will be remembered and associated with the surprise/unhappy feelings people had at the moment. If embarrassment, they will be associated with embarrassment, etc. My dd33 recently recalled to me an unfortunate church incident from her youth, and I reminded her that some people didn't have all the facts and were operating without enough knowledge/education. She said what had mattered was whether they had love in their hearts, and she had been old enough to see then that they didn't. Quite an indictment from the memory of a then-teen.

Dstepson has been here through the morning doing some work outdoors. He came in and chatted a while, with stories from his grandfather.

Sorry Twins and Kathryn are having such frustrating times! Kathryn, that sounds as if it might be Prophet in (her) own Country stuff - "You can't preach - we *know* you! (And you know us... )"

2 inventories, today. I have to figure out the paperwork for one - it is... atypical, for a couple of reasons... I want to have lunch before heading out, as there isn't really a convenient place to eat between them, so that's delaying me a bit.

I got the car cleaned out on the passenger side the other day that felt great! I put clean sheets back on the bed last night glad I got that done!

Jumping to Monday! I've gotten things are underway and I e-mailed a letter to dsis did not get a snail mail one done last week and the weekend was busier than usual here. More laundry is going. Moved the hens feeder so the could take cover under the deck in the wind storm. PBS channel is out now so dgd had to choose some thing else luckily there is another one.

Working on journaling a great place to vent if needed! Dd was fit to be tied with dgson dragging his feet probably late getting to school today. ~Sigh~ not much I could do but listen about that tough love in parenting is a whole lesson in and of itself some times I think more for the parent's benefit than the child that they can not bail the child out of each problem and the child needs to learn about not behaving well for later on in life that behavior does not serve a person well.
Journaling is complete now.
I've spiffed up my purse today.

Morning y'all...still

I jumped right into Monday this morning. I was out and working in my yard by 7. Puppies were fed while I sat outside with my coffee. I am dirty and nasty from planting flowers and the weekly cleaning of my patio. Visiting the villiage is my break. INext...i don't know what is next...I have to check my planner...but it seems to me that I need to make some lunch.

Sweet took the notion to wash the outside of the windows today. He likes the way he does it better than me...Guess what, I'm no fool and I can live with it.

Harriet, we are wondering if the difference in the retrieving is breeding, though both breeders are working with pedigreed dogs, show them, and seem pretty conscientious with their bloodlines. Pepper's father was a lab in Kentucky; her breeders were looking for a male w/ strengths to balance out some weaknesses they had in their dogs, specifically coat quality. Pepper does have a gorgeous coat! However, Pepper's breeders did not show in field trials, just in conformation, while Maia's breeders show both. I think MT's DD may show both too? I'm certainly not an expert on the dog show circuit, but we've gleaned this much from conversations.

Yes, someone's signature used to be something like, Getting started is half done. Maybe Dee's?

Ds is home. We have succeeded in not tripping over Maia as we (mostly he) unloaded the car. I'm going to look at my Hebrew now. Ds has a Dr. appt. in an hour; I'm going to take him. Dh may pick him up after work or he may take a bus home.

I've been a busy little SHE today. LO woke me up at 2am with a sore throat. Got him meds and back to sleep until my normal wake up time (4:30am). LO woke up again at 6am crying from an ear ache. THANKfully, I had prescription ear drops on hand so those were immediately started. He was out of pain and ready to start his day by the start of school.

I've spent some extra time in the kitchen prep'ing vegetables/meat for upcoming meals. The first of the week starts a fresh menu plan so the prep is more on the front end of the week.

DSIL had surgery this morning and came through it just fine. DH spent several hours at the hospital. I did communication support from home --- calling and texting family with latest updates.

I spent over an hour on phone with DDIL and DMom making plans for next weekend celebration of DSon birthday. Everything is planned "in jello".

My "just 1 more thing" kept me up another hour after posting. I had a good enough nap. Slept 2 hours, woke briefly, then dozed another hour. That should keep me going the rest of the day. Since I got the jump on chore cards earlier, I think I'll grab another box from storage to dejunk.

DH wants tacos for supper, which is really easy because a local diner is having all-you-can-eat taco dinner for $5.99 from 5 to 8 tonight.

After supper DH said he will try to fix my dvr that got messed up in a power outage. He finally looked at it Saturday and realized that he needed a specific tool that he keeps in his bench at work. He texted me earlier that he already put the tool in his pocket so he won't forget it.

In my mind, there is no excuse for this except they don't like my work.

Or MAYBE someone on the committee is trying to prove to other members how much you do and what it would be like if you were not around to fix all their problems.
Or maybe they're worried about your health and want you to have a little get-away time to yourself, even if it is at a conference.
Or maybe they think this conference means a lot to you and the only reason you offered to give it up was because of your loyalty to your church, which they don't think is fair that you should have to give up so much.

I would bet that last is the case. They've seen how hard you work and how much you've already sacrificed to help them. They think the conference is important to the new career you've begun, including being a networking opportunity for you with other people in your field, and they don't want to stall your progress.

Oh I see Harriet already posted similar. That makes me even more confident of the idea, trusting Harriet's view!

It's probably a combination of a lot of things coming on top of the general panic of an unusual deadline, having to find substitute ministers with no notice. I cannot believe anyone has any problems with your work, you would have heard something before this.

Back from choir. Dd was working in the yard, picking up the fallen branches from winter so we went out and worked for 30 minutes. The back gardens are now better to look at (they were full of leaves and dead sedum and grasses) and there's space for the perennials to burst forth now.

I'm working on getting the bulletin updated. It is a new month, therefore a new sung blessing.

I finally finished my re-write for our monthly bulletin and I emailed it to three people for critique. I'm not sure if I'm over the top or just writing for sympathy or therapy, or whether this needs to be said.

I need to go pick up my man Moses - I dropped him off earlier for a bath and summer trim - and then I need to erase some footprints. I think Bigfoot has been through here.
