Moving Monday

Post by Emptynester »

It is not often I am up and going before those of you on the East Coast.

It is 3:10 and we are ready to go meet the shuttle for the airport. Boy is it dark out there.

See you all from Chicago this afternoon.

Have a wonderful visit with your daughters and their families, Emptynester! Naps do wonders for early-flight yawning later on!

My Sunday continued full of company and I barely got here to wave yesterday. Ds' family was with us and of course dstepson's family brought dd14 back home after her sleep-over. Lots of fun but lots going on! Belated Happy Anniversary to the In Canadas!

We are living in a water world. Drenching rain has been amazing. And this on top of rain on top of rain on top of rain for weeks. All the lawns are high. I don't know if it can soak in! Also unseasonably cool.

Good title for the day as I need to be moving. The school run is accomplished. My ddad wanted to eat a snack at 5, so he's had a banana and has gone back to bed. I'm going to S2S while HRH is still here.

Today is Desk Day, I have my laundry planned out.

Focus Cleaning begins Outdoors this week. (I will look out into the rain wistfully, LOL)
Decluttering in the Kitchen if anyone's trying to get ahead of Focus cleaning schedule with that.

I'm running on about 3 hours' sleep. * sigh * Just couldn't settle down last night. Mainly too much caffeine, I guess. I mean, I'm nervous about ddad, (see my post in J&C) but I think I could have slept if I hadn't already slept all afternoon long, plus drank two pretty large diet cokes after 6:00 p.m.

Busy day ahead, even if dmom doesn't give us the word to travel.
Boy, if she DOES... oh my goodness...
Tomorrow is another day.

I visited with a dfriend who is recovering ... on the down cycle of bipolar, though not as bad as her previous run a decade ago ... from where I stand at least. It is many years since I was there and finding her cottage in the country was a test of memory.

Now to get to kitchen clean up duty.
Just begin.

Ditto!

Also must cook the pinto beans I had soaking all night. I'll do that after lunch so I can take out what I want to freeze and then turn the rest into chili for supper.

Good morning! Just back from a jog with dh. Dh is now sweeping the kitchen area, an activity which is proving to be a highly entertaining game for Maia as she tries to get the broom! :)

I have the feeling I missed some birthdays and anniversaries.

HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY SADIE!

HAPPY ANNIVERSARY KATHRYN AND KEN!

We are continuing to have beautiful spring weather; it is forecast to continue all week. :) Not much chance of rain; I wonder if we're running a little dry now? I don't follow those things. We are slightly above average temps-wise. We are loving it!! My parents in central IL have been having a lot of rain too, harriet. They said farm land in SW Kansas (where uncle farms, where Mom has some farmland) is a little improved but still in a drought.

Today:
- a.m. routine
- menu plan and groc. list
- groc. store
- review Heb
- progress on teaching
- Heb class at 5:05
- dd14 to band rehearsal 6:30 - 8:30

I slept for 3 hours yesterday afternoon. I think I was tired! I was certainly socialized out. My social day was Friday - Saturday, with the 6 girls sleeping over, driving to and from Detroit with a van full of girls twice in 24 hours, last pick up of a tutor girl (who returned to our house around 11:30 Saturday a.m after leaving early that morning) happened at 3:30 pm. Then, small group 5 - 8:30, then out for coffee with dh. . . Sunday, dfriend R came over for dinner, which is usual.

Off to the a.m. routine!

I'm getting a slow start this morning - got up early when dh got up and kept thinking I would go back to bed and here I am still. I have cleaned up the kitchen from last night's little dinner "party," washed up pots and pans and swept the kitchen floor of debris. Have done some a.m. routine. Supposed to be raining here again today but looks okay right now, I think I'll throw on clothes and takes ddogs out. Also very cool, only 52 degrees.

Ds has a dental appt this afternoon and I'll drive him there. Dh is bowling tonight so ds and I will have leftovers or pizza probably.

-change clothes, brush teeth
-walk ddogs
-start a load of delicates
-two emails to temple office
-return the phone call from office from last Friday

hi I am looking for some kind way of handing a situation that I mentioned in the prayer area.

My eldest daughter is graduating from college in 2 weeks and my dmom has known about the date etc. for 6 months. I have had the reservation at the restaurant and hotel since december and mentioned it many times to her to make sure she kept that date open. My mother made an appointment to have major dental surgery tomorrow and said she may not go to dd's graduation (about 2 hours away from here).

found out d mom made her dentist appointment 3 weeks ago even though she knew about dd's graduation for the last 6 months and has been reminded about it.

she called me yesterday and asked for a drive for the whole day for tuesday (tomorrow) for these dental appointments

- I am being understanding but dd younger is very angry and dd older doesn't know yet. I think she see's this grand daughters achievements are not that great as friends childrens etc. She went to another childs graduation, a friend of my dbrother on Saturday where one hundred young adults graduated from. She mentioned that this girl, who I am so happy for, got so many awards but while in Florida with both my girls she asked dd old why she wasn't on the deans list and said she was 11th in her highschool upon graduating. My mom never went to college.

Acceptance is a gift to my self but I know this one will hurt older and younger dd for a long time. I am wondering if I should even mention it to my mom as she is totally unaware of her actions and eventually the consequences as my youngest dd has said my mom can't come to her high school graduation (which my mom deems important) - any advice on how to handle this situation.

blessed, are your 2 dds your dms only grandchildren? I'm thinking they are, but I may be wrong. Since both girls have visited her in Florida, twice in less than 6 months, you can tell she loves them. I am with you on not understanding how she can not go to dd1s college graduation. I know it might be hard, but I think I would tell her how upset dd2 was at the thought of dg not going to her dsis college graduation. Maybe that will get her attention. Wish I could wave a magic wand and make it right for you.

yes, my dkids are the only grand children. I can only be patient, fix older dd's pain as it comes and my mom just can't see that she does play favorites. I am considering talking to her this morning to ask why she chose to do her teeth before dd's graduation but I know my mom's reaction. She doesn't grasp things. especially how she chooses what she feels important. I know dd older will be devastated and eventually my dmom will be devastated when dd younger doesn't invite her to her high school graduation. I don't want to hurt my mom but her choices sometimes (for me) lack understanding.
