LucyLee so very glad you are home. Sending hugs to you and your family.
Feeling a bit achey today and moving slow.
Making lunch now and then need to get ready for work.

Re: Thursday Thanksgiving
I guess I will take the time and mow the yard. With the rain it really grew. So nice to see green grass. The trees are filling out well.

Re: Thursday Thanksgiving
Another lovely day here! We are LOVING this weather!
I need to remember this stretch when the weather turns cold and/or wet again. It is 80* outside right now; high is forecast to be 82.
Happy to hear from lucylee. Nice to hear of the laughter; that's not the sort of thing one necessarily hears about so I'm glad you shared here.
Glad your daunt's surgery went well, Lilac.
So far today:
x moms group - set up, teaching, clean up. I think the teaching went well; I got some good feedback, and we had some good whole group discussions.
x lunch/relax for an hour
x ordered Mother's Day flower for dmom! They're going to deliver them today, apparently. I actually did something early! My Mom will not believe that.
Dfriends from TX are arriving this afternoon; I think their flight lands at 4 pm, which means they'll probably be here around 5 pm. I have lots I need to do to get ready for them. I'll make a little li&t to stay on track:
- finish a.m. routine
- groc. store for salmon for dinner tonight; I want it to be more or less fresh so didn't buy it on Monday when I went to the groc. store. I think dh is going to cook up the salmon. I need to get more fruit too.
- vacuum dd14's room, which she tidied last night. Dfriends are staying in there tonight.
- start the breadmaker
The pup is sleeping, thank goodness.

Re: Thursday Thanksgiving
I went and laid down for 40 minutes and fell asleep. I was (and still am) SO tired. Now, I feel even worse. I've made a cup of tea to help wake me up. Then, I'll head out to the groc. store.
Dfriend's flight lands at 4:40, so they'll be here around 5:30/5:40.

Re: Thursday Thanksgiving
helia, enjoy your company.
Good thing I mowed. I had 8 full bags and the norm is 4-5.
I had a hair appt yesterday. I finally accepted the fact that I will never again, have bob length hair. It is too thin. She cut the sides just shorter than the earlobe and they are kind of wispy. It looked so nice when she styled it.
Well I better get in the shower. I need to do my hair in case dd2 is running late and I need to get the boys. I wouldn't want to go over looking like this.

Your hairdo sounds cute, Lilac!
Trying to get mojo. .
x started breadmaker
x groc. store for salmon and odds and ends.
I guess I have an hour. Thank goodness the house is not in bad shape; I probably won't fuss much with the living areas. I'm going to prep dd14's room next. And make sure the bathroom is socially acceptable.

Re: Thursday Thanksgiving
Quick c.i. to say hi.
I'm glad to hear Lucy & dfamily are home safe.
So nice for Kathryn & dh to get together with Harriet & dd14!
Lilac....I'm so glad your daunt's surgery went well.
Helia....have a nice visit with your dTxFriends.
Twins'....enjoy your beach vacation.
Sadie....hope you are feeling ok.
I did some of my weekly routine today and will finish up tomorrow.
Dh's dniece and husband will be in the area on their vacation from Ohio this coming week. They'll be making the rounds of relatives in this area on my dh's side of the family so I'm not sure just when we'll see them.
Time to finish getting ready to go to dfam#2 for supper this evening!

Re: Thursday Thanksgiving
Hello, villagers ~
I have been having a day of recuperation. Woke up extremely early in pain this morning, but used the time to watch a couple of long sewing videos and crochet. I washed dishes. Then I took a long nap with the cats and woke up feeling much better.
While I was napping, FedEx delivered a package to my front porch. Monday night DH finally had both the time and the tool necessary to check out the dvr that a storm had knocked out a few weeks ago. He had been able to open up his newer dvr and found a reset button on the board inside that made his work again. Unfortunately, mine was a much older model with no reset button. Anyway, Tuesday morning I ordered a replacement from Amazon and they said delivery date would be mid- to late- next week. (That was basic delivery fee. I did not think it was worth an additional $52 over the basic shipping fee to get it here faster.) You can imagine my delight that it's already here without having to pay for rush delivery.
The only thing is -- the model number on the box does not match the model number that I ordered. I am waiting until DH gets home to see if they made an acceptable substitution. He is the one who researched the machine and told me what to order.
Since my nap I have dealt with a number of Emails and read a blog. I am deliberately giving myself a slow day because the past 2 days were super busy, and the next 3 days will be chaos. I wouldn't mind doing laundry, but by coincidence that's caught up.
I think for the rest of today I will work on clearing enough space in the front room to set up the sewing machine. There are a few clothes that need mending, and I want to make a case for my cell phone from some pretty floral fabric.

Re: Thursday Thanksgiving
Oh almost forgot the main reason I checked in. I just read this blog entry and thought y'all might appreciate it. The topic is on the uselessness of getting caught up in comparing your challenges/achievements/pain to anyone else's.

Re: Thursday Thanksgiving
Afternoon everyone! I got most of my stuff done yesterday: finished the meeting notes and minutes (had to transcribe 10 pages!), went to the animal org board meeting (ran very late), LOL, and dishes done. I had only two microwave covered plates to take to work, now I have only one. I need to buy another pronto. While looking for trash bags, I discovered a leak under my kitchen sink. I was able to determine where it was coming from - the hot water faucet, but I don't know how to fix it. I am pretty sure it can be a DIY project. I certainly cannot afford a plumber. I will ask XDH when he drops off DD on Saturday.
I let dFosterKitten have the run of the house at night for the first time. He wanted to sleep on my bed with me and the 4 adult cats. The adult cats were NOT pleased. He keeps wanting to play with dResidentCat13 (reigning queen) and ran up to attack her tail. The first time, he got hissed at; the second time, he got hit hard, but without claws. I did not intervene, because he has to learn to respect his elders, but it was hard to watch. He just wants another playmate.
Tonight, I have a church meeting at 7:00. I hope to finally remember to put the registration stuff in and on my car. I also need to do a LOL. There is much pending stuff, maybe I will get some of it done too. I think tomorrow evening, I will get the attic work done after knit/crochet group.
In some good news: I have Sunday with DD11 all planned out! We will go to church, eat lunch, then hit the amusement park!
