Travel day for us, too. We took the train from Western IL to DS's in the Chicago Burbs.

Just a few more days here and we will fly home. Probably on Tuesday.

I'm bushed - but I wanted to check in.

Still wanting to say I am so sorry all my posts are just pop in and say hello, or whine, and go... my life will calm down in a week or so, I think.

Today, -- local festival -- psedo-educational thing -- I was there in "official" capacity as faculty representative for our kids, but when the rain started POURING down, ddil & I decided to leave. I told the guy I reported to that I was gone; dh could be my substitute.

Home -- after stops at one drug store, then CVS, then florist... (to get ds/dgs an afghan like the one dfriend sent to the funeral with them in mind, but which dbro immediately claimed!)

Then dfriend from school calls and after talking to me a bit, admits that she needs to talk to dh.
I heard dh saying "Wed. ds & I are supposed to be in Bham."
* sheesh *
Well of course I knew what they were talking about -- my "surprise" retirement party (shared w/co-worker). * sheesh * This makes me so NERVOUS. For no reason at all, but y'all are used to that. I told dh that if he & ds can go to Bham Wed, to just GO. It makes me MORE nervous to think they would change their plans in order to watch my fellow faculty members give me an engraved plaque and eat cake at lunch time. * sigh *
(IF AU loses in tournament Tues., they will not be going, but if AU wins, they want to go to the 2nd game of the SEC baseball tournament.)
Dfriend may think that is terrible -- for dh to miss something like this, but like I told dmom, it is not a command performance for the queen. * sheesh * Dmom is also invited; maybe she & ddil will come. I don't care if they do or they don't, told dmom just not to say anything else to me about it; I don't want to know. Makes me nervous.
I do NOT like being in the limelight, and I certainly hope I don't throw up.

Belk. Good choice, Harriet. Although I heard something about their politics the other day that made me wish we had more choices around here. * sigh * And no matter WHERE I shop these days, it seems there are NO clothes for "grown women" anymore.

Hello, villagers ~
We went from winter straight into summer, hot hot hot.

I've been sticking close to home, nibbling away at various projects. Actually read a real paper book, not just a blog on the screen.

Yesterday morning I avoided stepping on a cat but almost fell down the stairs. Luckily the banister held, but I twisted my knee. Iced it immediately and rested by taking the time to read Facebook. It isn't as bad as it could have been, just enough to be uncomfortable.

I started an exercise program on Tuesday and did not want to use the twisted knee yesterday as an excuse to lose momentum. I did the arm segments on the dvd and carefully walked in place for the rest. Today I did the full program slowly at beginner level. This was day 4 and I'm trying not to break the chain.

(All spurred on by going shopping last week to replace worn out tops, and being forced to see myself in the full-length mirror. )

Managed to get the financial reports and agenda sent out for next Tuesday's sewing group board meeting. I fear it will be a long meeting because we need to discuss who will take over leadership next year. Good thing is all of our winter travelers are back home so we will have extra brain power at the meeting.

According to the by-laws, I must move to a different position on the board next year because I have reached the legal term limit. They can't guilt me into it again, my conscience is clear! I would not mind moving to the Treasurer's spot, since I'm already doing half of that work.

I still don't have my sewing machine set up, had to deal with other things instead. Maybe this weekend. I know DH wants to go see at least 1 new movie, though, so kind of depends on how complicated that turns out.

I'm very glad to see that all of our PWYC village travelers are safe.

We've been watching the movie soul surfer in bits and pieces IO've seen the middle & the end and caught part of the beginning of it today.

Pumpkin tree I planted seeds for white pumpkin under a small purple leaf plum bush that I've pruned to be like a tree so hoping that this turns out well for fall decor only 6 seeds in that seed packet! Plus I got the carrots in today after the yd. sale and mowed.

Yd. sale finds: Got my table cloth! Plus jeans 2 pr. & book for me yea! And a black diaper bag for babyN's things just like I've wanted. Don't need it as much but when I do car pool it sure comes in handy if we do lunch out. [It was great to get some time to read today.]

H. said when he got home he had to take the broom after one of the Barred rock hens pecking the heck out of one of the pullets. Later it was fine. He thinks I should just keep them locked up all the time. No eggs today.

Got the dishes in the dish washer ran. I need to do a tub of jeans of h.
's work pants soon as he's done in the shower.

Lilac: I keep sheets on the bed all the time. That way if I invite someone to sleep over due to weather or someone drops in unexpectedly and we invite them to stay, they won't feel that I'm put out. The extra towels are also stored in that room so I'm good to go.

In the basement (which can be a bit musty) I do not keep them on the bed.

Done exercising.

My tummy is acting like it did on Sunday night. I've taken a pill and am preparing for a rough night.

I don't know how I forgot that you were travelling too, Emptynester. I have enjoyed hearing about the different phases of your trip.

The basement is done, except in the morning after I fold all the clothes hanging to dry, I will need to vaccum that bedroom.

Now I need to vaccum the dining area and kitchen floors. I will have to mop and do some kitchen detailing. So off I go.....

I am done. For tonight. Tomorrow I need to fold clothes, vaccum bedroom, fold towels and mow. Shower and go to dd1 for the luncheon. I am wore out.
