Re: Saturday Stuff
Your talking about dd's glasses, Helia, reminds me of something 'funny' -to me at least this week. Couple of weeks ago dsisil (yes, the one who smokes & has given me lots of grief in past couple of years), decided she needed glasses "right now!" Had her eyes examined & Dr. wanted her to see an ophthalmologist & had at least 1 cataract. She INSISTED she had to have her new glasses right then, but they wanted her to wait until she saw other Dr. Nothing doing! So dbil made her an appointment (first time she's been to a Dr of any sort since 1964 btw) for last Friday. Of course she now has to have cataract surgery & she complained bitterly to the ophthalmologist that "I just spent $300 on new glasses!" We're all chuckling (to ourselves of course).
Just went up to buy 1 chicken bar-b-q ticket. One is plenty for dh and I to split.
It is so breezey here. A very cold breeze. Supposed to start warming up tomorrow though. DDIl is coming shortly to use our pressure washer for their deck. She was very glad to hear dh had one and she doesn't have to wash it by hand. She's planning to stain it tomorrow.
Dh kept asking me if I knew where his new 'grippers' were for him to use on the cart he works from. Only place I could think of was our deck bin out front. Nope not there. Hmmmm.....I lifted a wooden flag replica we have and lo and behold! Tells me, "I looked there twice!" He-he-he.
Guess I'll go out and breathe some fresh air. I get too sleepy in here if I decide to sit. Out I go!

Re: Saturday Stuff
I haven't done most of what was on my OMM list for today. After my run to the bakery and to p/u dog meds, dh was already up at the pool so I changed and headed up there....lots of food, sun and neighbors. Gorgeous weather here - not too hot and I put on sunscreen and stayed up there until about 2 p.m.
Then a nap was in order, and I slept until almost 4:30 and am still trying to figure out what, if anything, to do. I need to s2s, and go to grocery, but I may just s2s and do things here and do the grocery run in the a.m. Dkids did go out for milk, so we're good there.
So for now.....
-start a lol
-empty dishwasher and straighten kitchen
-s2s (sunscreen off!)

Re: Saturday Stuff
Ds finally checked in. He did ok but not a stellar time on the Spartan race. Was penalized 50 burpees. Twenty for not completing a task and thirty for not following instructions. Except the instructions were in French and he understood he had to raise a weight 20' up (on a pulley) and then he lowered it down until 3' off the ground and let it drop. Turns out he had to lower it completely to the ground but didn't understand the French and was just lowering it to a safe level to let it fall.
He's still going back tomorrow. Says it was cold and then he isn't fully clean yet.
I brought in the laundry and the garbage cans. Am zapping some dinner now. Also went over the sermon, edited and timed it.

Fell asleep around 4 and woke up at 6:15 to DH making supper--a different supper than I had planned, but it works for me.
He just asked where the hand mixer is...it broke years ago...I directed him to the potato masher.

Re: Saturday Stuff
Our water pressure's been going very, very low, to off, when the toilets flush, for awhile. DH put off getting it fixed. Last weekend, he took the capacitor from the pump (the pump's submerged and we have an above-ground water-holding tank). He worked and worked on cleaning the capacitor up, it worked better. But we continued to have the low pressure problem during showers,
and after flushes.
It was a very busy week for us with doctor appt.'s, etc.. So Fri. he bought a new gauge. Today he took the compressor, got the water out of the tank, put the gauge on and we're back in business and everything's NORMAL! Yeah! GO DH!
Hear an owl and a woodpecker this morning. Saw a few bunnies, numerous birds, a pigeon, chipmunks and squirrels. A few birds are new to our area, for this time of year, which may be just passing through, but it's fun to see new ones.

I got 5 loads of laundry done as far as being dried and folded. Then I had a nap. Mike made us a pizza for dinner.
Dishes never stop.
Laundry never stops.
Litter boxes never stop.
Paper never stops.

Re: Saturday Stuff
Got the weekly kitchen chores done. So that's more housework out of the way.
Now to finish typing up the service for tomorrow, printing it off and putting it in my preaching binder.

Re: Saturday Stuff
Waving from Sunday.
Church this morning - met a young mother new to the church - I hope she finds others who welcome her and her kids with open arms. Talked to friend who now looks after church library and took out a book that hasn't been checked out in years. One by John Powell. I hope I enjoy it as much as the one on love he wrote - I read that decades ago and would love a reread.
Yesterday - drove to a mtg in capital. I didn't take as long as I suspected. they went for lunch later - nothing there I could eat so I was glad I had taken my own. Seed cerealcooked but not eaten at breakfast - no time, and glad I keep a stash of teaspoons in my glovebox. Then got lost trying to bet back to my way home. grr to lack of directions, and bad sign posting, and expectations that "everyone" does wheat/gluten/bread, potato, fats galore. I hate the attention that not being able to select anything from a menu brings. Well - I had bottled water. I was not glad to be there. The meeting just reminded me I can't change anyone else except myself, so no sense in getting het up trying.
PU groceries at I G A back here in home town. 7 hrs - day out.
And double dog clean up in LR from when I was out. Not a happy dog mamma here. I had bought him a new jacket too. It was just like with the kids - buy something special with much love in my heart, and get home to bedlam. Is this a test of love? or what? Maybe the food change to expensive brand was not helpful. Results spoke for themselves. (Ick to cleanup) I need go back to the other I think. Or maybe he waits for me outdoors on my away days.
lol. phone calls later in the day. And walked 3k to prove I can. And let some brain and muscle cobwebs out.
I went to a different program meeting last night to get/reinforce a better outlook. And more acceptance of what I could possibly do. And what expectations that are unrealistic do to a person.
lol. Found out I was the (60yo) little girl who had helped someone's sister last weekend - a busy weekend with many people and connections. Prayers for that family's healing this anniversary time. I hope I helped that mother grieving for a lost son.
Clean winter sheets are on the bed today. Summer sheets on the line - then it will be time to pack them away with today's breezy sunshine.
Hugs and prayers to all in need. and those with no easily discernible needs as well.

Re: Saturday Stuff
Haven't cuop. Dgd3 was in no hurry to leave today. Dd2 dropped off dgd2 so she could open the store. By the time she got back and convinced them to leave it was 2. It is hot and windy, so I decided to start watching series finales that I had on my DVR. I have watched 7 hours worth.
This morning dh called at 8 to tell me the hotel he had stayed at last night was full for tonight. He wanted me to try and find him a room. Since he would be on the road, he told me to just leave him a message. I did. At 8:30 I hadn't heard from him so I called and left him a message. I called a little while later and still no answer. I have just called the hotel and he has not checked in. I told him if he didn't cancel by 4, he would be charged. So I know he intended to go there.
I am worried sick and praying. I will check back in as soon as I hear anything.

Re: Saturday Stuff
Busy first day out of school...
s2s...
picked up stew at dmom's church (had ordered a gallon when we were out there on Mother's Day)
home...
back to town --
drug store
CVS
bank
local misc store to look for ladies' Carhartt jeans (no luck, guess I'll have to try internet)
home...
nap
dgs arrived... played... etc etc
dmil's
dmom's
home...
ate supper
now we're about to head out for a movie -- Star Trek, I think.
(((Harmony))) I am so sorry about the loss of your friend.
I am also kinda a little bit concerned about my mom. She had not got the paper/mail in 4 days!!! Good grief. I know she'd been out of the house on at least one of those days, maybe two, but how could she forget to stop at the mailbox for 4 DAYS??? Of course, duncle had been up there today, daunt & cousin had been there at least one of these past 4 days... so they're all driving right by the mailbox and not noticing/thinking about it I guess.
I'm kinda afraid dmom is going to drive me insane now that ddad is not here to keep her busy.
