MEMORIAL DAY MONDAY
May we all remember those who have served -no matter which country we call home.
It's beautiful outside, but cold -41. Supposed to warm up to the 60's but by the end of the week supposed to be 90's. I'll be spending most of that time in the hospital so doubt I'll be too warm.
A couple stopped over last night whom dh has become quite good friends with. He was a pro hockey player with the B uffalo S abres. Surprising to me was the fact that he had the same surgery as dh -4 years ago. He's surely not that old. Very interesting conversation, especially since dh will have the same surgeon. They vowed they'll be at the hospital sometime this weekend. Everyone here knows dh and are quite fond of him, so it promises to be a high energy week for me. The campground has its own FB page so that will help with a lot of questions. I can keep most people updated that way.
Got up at 6 with dh for 'break', only to find I was surprisingly (after what I ate last night -no sweets but plenty of carbs I thought) shaky & my blood sugar was only 54. Way too low -so have had breakfast, with juice first.
Most people are still here since the weather turned pretty good yesterday. The 'exodus' will start later this morning probably. I do think we're having a picnic at ds-R's this afternoon though.
Guess I'll slowly get myself around and start doing some cleaning.

Re: MEMORIAL DAY MONDAY
(((Dee))) It will be a long week for you.
I'm up. No holiday here so I should be moving but I'm not. Late bed but that was because I did icing and 3/5 of my physio exercises before turning out the light. I have been sitting too much and my knees are objecting.
Dishwasher is emptied and I'm just finishing up my tea now.
Nothing on my agenda until 6 p.m. but I'll have to take an hour to set up for that and I'll have to eat dinner early. Ds is working at 3. He's been called into work twice extra in the past 5 days which is a good thing (he needs money) although I know he was planning to rest and recover today. It is switchboard work (not titled call-center but that has a different connotation for most people) so he'll be sitting and not have to walk all over the hospital. Not sure if that is a good or bad thing.
I'm pleased his room is a bit cleaner now. That settles me down a bit. His vacuum is in the basement now, so I should set it up (new bag, assemble since he took everything apart to fit it in the car) and vacuum the basement. There are a lot of dead bugs down there.
I need to also find a home for some unframed artwork - some belonging to ds and some mine. And think hard about a garage sale. I have good stuff but will I get good prices for it if I try to sell it? The church musician had a garage sale on the weekend and made $50. It isn't worth it for me to take the time if that is going to be my result. Her son made $30 off his toys as well, but still that is a pittance for 6 or more hours of work. Our second church is having a rummage sale and I could just donate a lot of the things to that. It would clear out the basement and save me some time.

Re: MEMORIAL DAY MONDAY
Good morning Dee, Kathryn and everyone else as you enter the village this morning.
I am waiting to hear from dd1, so that we can walk. I could call but will let her wake up on her own. She has been exhausted since Friday was her last day at school until August. She said last night that the only thing she accomplished in 2 days was going to church.
I had intended to mow after our walk but the sprinkler is going again. It just watered yesterday. Guess dh just has it set up on one week instead of 2 weeks. No big deal.
It is very breezy today, so dh will be fighting the wind again. If he went to bed as early as he planned, I am betting he is already on the road.
Gotta go, dd1 just called.

Re: MEMORIAL DAY MONDAY
Good morning, Dee. Always encouraging to hear a doctor has a good "track record" with those you know.
Happy Memorial Day observance in the US.
Dining room Focus thread is up in that forum. Decluttering the porch and entry starts today for households planning ahead to Focus. Yep, believe it or not back to the Entry by next Monday to start the THIRD round of Focus for 2013. Can't believe the year is flying by.
Cowinkie, I hope you hear a happy report from your ds soon.
Kathryn, just a few more days until you'll hear all about Peru and maybe get to see some photos.
Lynlee, I meant to tell you good job, on finding out you were the person who helped someone last week.
Elizabeth, the ex-h has probably steeled himself against any news from them already and wouldn't want to have a reaction. When he thinks about it, he is probably grateful you would let him know so he can be prepared when he hears it otherwise. They have a little boy together, right? How is dd's leg doing?
Twins' Mom, how is dd's foot feeling?

Re: MEMORIAL DAY MONDAY
Harriet, dd spent last night with our adult friend P last night - her dh is out of town. Haven't heard much either way as to pain, but we've been consistently nagging her about shoes. Doc's directions were to wear walking/running/sturdy shoes all.the.time. She's had one shoe on pretty consistently at home, but I'm afraid not wearing the second will leave her hips and other leg out of whack. We'll call doc tomorrow to let him know he should be receiving (or already rec'd?) the bone scan from Friday.
Nothing on calendar for today - dh has gone to work to do some continuing education; ds had a friend spend the night (the son of the people we were having dinner with) and all is quiet upstairs.
Very nice morning here - I read the paper outside on back patio, and I can hear the kids next door outside. I've also walked ddogs already.
Lots of footprints to erase here this morning...

Re: MEMORIAL DAY MONDAY
Good morning, all!
Dh is working today, but may be home early. I've caught up on dishes and laundry already. Bed made. House is straight. Readings done. Think I will sweep outside porches and then vacuum.
Should be a relaxing day. Have a watermelon to slice later. That tells me summer is coming.

Re: MEMORIAL DAY MONDAY
Thanks, Kathryn -yes you know it will be a long & tiring week. I'm already tired!
Been working on all the clothes I piled in my closet just to get the suitcases empty the other day. Coming together well. Next -after I finish putting things away where they BELONG, I'll do dishes & sweep. Sweeping has to be a daily occurrence here. (Have to love how my text now self corrects!! Even in here.)
Going over to DS-R, DDIL & DGS8 this afternoon for lunch. Her mom & eldest dd are coming. So good to see her Mom finally getting out more. (She became a widow last year before we came north). And I haven't seen the eldest DSGD22 yet.
On with the chores so I can go grab something to take to lunch. Not sure yet what that will be. Dfriend (who LOVES to cook) from the campground brought us chicken parm/pasta yesterday. Maybe we'll get to eat it tonight. Next door neighbor brought over some macaroni salad & some potato salad (that's to die for) last night. I don't have to cook! Almost doubting I'll have to do much in the next week or two anyway. Know Sunday there's a chicken bar-b-q coming that dh bought from a friend the other day. This time of year there are a lot of fund raisers with that theme. And dh has always supported the kids!
Saturday is the walk for our local children's hospital. We've got the t-shirts & have donated -dh was supposed to walk. He plans to wear his home from the hospital & I'll wear mine on Saturday in support. (this is the hospital where our dZoe was born & later passed away). Next Thursday, DS-A will present someone from the local graduating class with the scholarship award that we have set up in her memory. Want to go over to her Memorial Garden at the elementary school later -maybe I'll just go that way to get something for lunch. Know ddil was going over and plant some flowers today. Have to do it when there are no children in school, which is perfectly ok!
Ok, I'm off again>>>>>>>>>
As a matter of fact he's one of the top heart surgeons in the country & I think this hospital is 3rd or 4th in the country -for heart. AND this is the same heart surgeon who did my 5 by-passes nearly 19 years ago. So, I'm already comfortable with him.Good morning, Dee. I can't believe your dd has another broken bone, Elizabeth. I missed how she did this one. Healing wishes to her.

Re: MEMORIAL DAY MONDAY
Well rats, I was in the bathroom and didn't run to get the phone and it was from the doc's office that dd saw last week. He/they called my cell phone also but no message left. I tried to call back but the office itself is closed today. I'm trying to keep my week somewhat open in case dd needs to see an orthopedist this week.
Yesterday I bought some early season peaches that smelled so good. I sliced one up in my oatmeal with a few walnuts earlier - it was yummy!
-meds/vitamins
-refill meds/vitamins for the week
-make the bed
-reboot laundry
-go out and "pooper scoop" while it's cool and shady...
I have to say I'm really enjoying this neighborhood. While walking the dogs this morning, there was a guy up the street on the front porch with his guitar (friend of people who moved into that house this week, he said) and on a screened porch, there was another couple outside enjoying the morning. The boys next door have a friend over and they've been outside playing.

Re: MEMORIAL DAY MONDAY
Did a spurt of easy to-do items including two phone calls. One was a success, the other I'll need to call again between 2 and 6 on Wednesday. Hope I can remember.
Next challenge is to style my hair. Then maybe bill paying, banking and grocery shopping. I could then treat myself to lunch out.
