Another round of yd. work done, the front yd. here and next door has been mowed and our back yd. as well yea for no rain today! Had lunch & Dgd is happy now so that helps.

I'm heading back out for another round of sod moving, I'm creating a sort of wind break for the front of the dust bath area the hens can enjoy until we get the sod pieces we removed hauled off. Feeling better than I have in a week or so glad for that yea! So I'm motivated to get more progress done on this with a dry day.

The baby will be here tomorrow & dgd will be at the other granny's the rest of the week.

Back from town. DGS18 has steel toe work boots now. I'm not the happiest Nana in the world with his job selection (show up at 6am....stand on the corner....wait for someone to hire you for a few hours). Hopefully this phase of his life will someday be something we can look back on and smile about how far he came from where he started.

Still focusing on the D's. Refreshing my memory where I was......
  • Dishes - in progress - around round of dishes soaking, some drying
  • Duds - in progress - Twins are busy. Some waiting on table to be put away after LO wakes up from his nap.
  • Dinner - Planned & prep'd (fish sticks, mashed potatoes, green beans, orange cake, fruit & cool whip
  • Dollars - In progress. Processing papers, updating accounts...

Glad to see your dh is 'safe & sound', Kathryn!

Awww, Harmony -you have so much going on in your life. You're always in my thoughts -as are all of you here. I'm 'afraid' of what my numbers will be when I go in toward the end of June! But for now, I'll not worry about that and concentrate on dh for the forseeable future. He's said some things in the past few days that I finally wrote down. Things like looking forward to this surgery because he's so tired & it'll give him a chance to rest. There's more and I just felt I needed to record them. Think I am getting just a tad nervous now, but I'll feel the physical effect of that come Thursday & Friday. Dsons are taking the day off to be with me at the hospital Friday. DD will be very stressed that she can't be there. Though something in the back of my brain says it wouldn't be too surprising for her to be there. Just don't want her spending the extra right now for last minute plane & I'm sure getting time off a week after she just had time off to come up here will be tough. Especially at the end of their school year. But it will drive her nuts sitting in FL come Friday. I know her!

Been raining or drizzling all day. Dh changed his clothes once. Tomorrow though, it's supposed to really start warming up to the 90's by the end of the week.

Been seeing hummers at our feeders this afternoon. But only the new one, which is quite colorful and not the old one. We'll see......

I gardened for an hour. Got the back gardens more respectable and put out the garden ornaments.

Helped ds with dinner, deboning the chicken breast and cutting up extra carrots since I wanted more. Also cleaned as he cooked so clean up is simple. He's off rock climbing now.

I'm recharging my fit bit and will go watch some tv while doing much needed physio exercises. I'm very sore. Then I'll try on my new skirt (which I didn't try on in the store) and see if it goes with my new t-shirts as planned.

Hi everyone! I enjoyed the wine festival yesterday and hanging out with two friends. However, I ended up with a headache, not enough water I suppose. I have mailed my bills, spending some of my very little money on stamps. Today is the first day that DD11 is out of school. Because she cannot go to the sports camp she wanted, she is stuck in her daycare until her cast comes off. She hates the food there, so XDH and I will have to take her out to lunch. Not in the budget really, but needed. On 6 June, she goes to Alaska with XDH.

Today, I have been calling for volunteers for an animal org event this weekend. Also, trying to figure out things to do in the summer with a DD in a cast. Obviously, swimming is out. I was thinking we could go camping with the wolves. And crafts, lots of crafts.

Tonight is Girls' Night Out, which will probably be Girls' Night In, because DD just got a cast today. It is not a walking cast either, they want all weight off her leg. I need to do a LOL and put the sheets back on DD's bed. I hope XDH remembers to bring the shop vac so I can vacuum spilled cat litter (clean) out of the car. There is much that I need to clean up the house. It is also the night to put out the trash.

DeClutter: What year is your Comet? I have the body of a 1961 in my garage. When I have money again, I will put an engine in it, then get body work done. This will not likely be this year.

Elizabeth: excuse me for pointing this out but you do not have to take dd out for lunch each day. She can take a packed lunch. And might I offer that since she is the one who doesn't like the food at daycare, she should be responsible for packing her own lunch (after consulting with you on acceptable alternatives and helping you shop and prepare the food.)

I went through my whole life not eating anything I didn't want to eat. But my mother certainly never took me out for a meal because of it. I packed a pb&banana or plain bologna sandwich, along with some cut carrots and maybe a piece of fruit (or if I was lucky, mini box of raisins.)

Oh Elizabeth, I don't envy you and dd with a summer cast. Ds broke his arm one summer and it really makes it hard to do things, and makes the cast smelly. Yes, lots of crafty projects. Does dd enjoy reading? If she doesn't you might try reading aloud to her - my kids enjoyed that for a very long time after they could read and we took the opportunity to read some long books (such as The Hobbit) which were longer and harder than they could have read alone.

And I agree with Kathryn about the lunches out, also.

I've been reading too much about foot stress fractures in the fifth metatarsal, which is what dd has. Appointment with orthopedic doc is tomorrow. I'm scared to death she won't be able to go to camp because of treatment, and will be on my nerves and underfoot without a car all summer.

Saw dsis today in ATL - she's better than last time but I don't see her being "well" without meds ever. She is still obsessed with going to lie down - she's supposed to stay upright after meals because of her swallowing issues and she just wants to go back to bed, apparently. I'm allowed to visit for 30 minutes but she will rarely stay and talk that long. It was a quite efficient trip to ATL at least.

I need to reschedule hair appointments for me and dd but I think the salon was closed today, every time I called it went to voice mail. I also need to call dentist to go another round of the prescription tooth sensitivity treatment. Tomorrow I only have the dr appointment for dd - if we can reschedule the hair appt for late afternoon we will do that also. Might also get a pedicure...

The Comet is a 1974 and in great condition. Dh had it inspected today & our mechanic wouldn't take anything for it. Just the way he is -plus he was overjoyed to work on a piece of art.

Pouring out now.

Have a good night. Dh and I are both headed for bed. Seems like we go earlier and earlier.

Dee, I should race you to bed but I think I'll run a load of laundry first. The dishwasher just finished.

Edited to add: Good thing I stayed up. Dh called just after I started the laundry. Just a minute (the calls are $4 a minute) but he wanted to hear my voice and doesn't have Skype on his smart phone (which seems dumb to me!)

He broke down in tears. Says he did so when he left Machu Picchu this morning as well. I told him it is probably a 'thin place' as the Irish call it, a place where the distance between heaven and earth collapses and we’re able to catch glimpses of the divine, or the transcendent.

My afternoon 2 pm onward:
x 2 pm - saw dfriend's knife demo. Liked the Cutco knives enough that I bought 2. I was not going to buy a set; S and R gave us a set of Henckels knives for Cmas. She left around 3:20.
x immediately emailed apologies to 5 dfriends whose names I gave to friend with the knives demo. She asked for 10-15 names. No way; I'm not particularly fond of these business schemes that use friendships. I chose 5 friends who will have no problem saying "no" if they don't want a sales pitch.
x finished up the meal - salad, grated cheese, sliced the brisket, gathered everything
x left at 4:10 to bring meal to dfriend; chatted briefly and held a sweet brand new baby for 15 minutes!
x Hebrew class 5 - 6. I should have translated more verses, but it was fine. Others helped me with the translation.
x while driving home, tornado sirens were going off. When I got home, ds was the only one here, and he was on the phone w/ dd15's driving instructor who was telling us to pick up the girls. Driving was cancelled due to rain - and tornado possibilities
x drove w/ ds to pick up dd15 and friend
x dropped off dd15's friend at home
x dropped off dd15 at home around 6:45; she was happy to get home from school before 8:20 pm today.
x went out to eat with ds. Had a nice chat. He even asked me about where I'm going to send my resume.
x home finally at about 8:20 pm, ironically. (Ironic b/c that is the time I'd be home for good if I had picked up dd15 from driving at the regularly scheduled time.)

'Since being home, I have indulged in a double freecell game, which I won relatively quickly. I have responded to an email, chatted w/ dkids, refilled Advil container.

I am tired, but before I go to bed I should clean up the kitchen. Funny that it is messy when we didn't even eat dinner at home this evening. Dd15 did, but I think she just grabbed a TJ frozen something or other. (Trader Joe's has awesome frozen foods, imho.) It's my mess from cooking for dfriends. Currently, Dh is at church elders meeting. Ds is going over math hw with dd15, dd17 is. . . playing a game on her laptop.

Tomorrow should be a little less crazy. I can hopefully get to some of the things I didn't get to today.
