I found that if you add day old bread to tomato salad it becomes a panzanella (sp???) who would ever know.

our dinners have been left overs. I did make a pasta, lemon, parmesan, lemon zest, basil dish the other day... (martha stewarts spring pasta)
which was tasty

tonight halibut, desert: grilled peaches I think.
whats in my fridge and cabinets right now that I need to use up: so I have to plan a menu off this stuff as I am trying to cut expenses

½ orange (making gelatin terrine)
1 bunch celery
grapefruit juice,
eggs june 18, mushrooms,
bacon, balsamic cream, tomato paste, anchovy paste, garlic, spaghetti squashcauliflower needs to be use, almonds, strawberries that need using up
cilantro, red pepper , 1/2 yellow pepper, jar kalamata olives, carrots, onion 2 ,vanilla beans and paste and liquid
guyere cheese for fondue , sharp cheddar, fontina cheese mozzarella sticks and fresh, basil,
thyme and mint ,capers, a can of lentils, artichoke jar,
pesto, pine nuts, tomatoes, different type of lettuces, shallots, leeks, buttermilk powder, cottage cheese, creme fraiche, beets, yeast, tuna packaged, blueberries, strawberries that need using up or freezing for smoothies, blackberries, truffle butter, parsley, cilantro, goat cheese, brie, gouda,

parmesan, swiss, cucumbers, avocado, lime, lemons, preserved lemon, frozen stock, canned broth

Rice, barley, pasta
potatoes red/ 1 baking
freezer: beef tips
whole chicken

my dear mom wants to make fleishnacka and try to get a set recipe for generations to come to use. so I need to make a chuck roast(Ina garten's company pot roast or a pot au fue, spelling? this week
I also hope to make a kugeloph (need golden raisins)

ideas so far: fondue with french bread and veggies blanched, a gelatin berry thing, shallots in wine, today: fish in paper with spinach and lemon, maybe a chicken soup or a minestroni type soup, beet and corn salad, salad with goat cheese - beets- pistachio- dried cherries, tomato cucumber onion panzanella with left over bread, make bread toasts out of left over bread, cucumber salad, carrot - bacon - red onion salad with vinaigrette (a favorite in our house), white pizza and arugula, mushroom and onion risotto

last night I made halibut in foil on top of spinach and lemon with a caper butter (really easy). I might try that with chicken some time.

I bought chili from Food Stuff's for dinner tonight. On the side I will have a corn/beet salad (never made before)

I made a fruit terrine as a salad type thing. We had it for lunch - it was different but good. not sure I would make it every day but for really hot weather.

If it's cold still tomorrow I will make blanched veggies, have a dijon mustard dressing on a regular salad and cheese fondue for dipping (bread)

yesterday I made dd younger a grilled peach, topped with creme fraiche lemon zest and topped with a bit of raspberry jam, a piece of mint and a few fresh raspberries. She said she liked it a lot. really simple and surprised me... I guess I am more of a whip cream person than French sour cream.
(really easy)

Well good morning:

today was going to be fondue and blanched veggies and bread cubes because I have to use them up. but d mom is taking dd younger out for dinner now that she is back from Florida and dd younger is out of school they can have time together.

I ended up making a root salad: I had beets yellow and red already cooked and chopped them into small squares, I had roasted carrots also in squares (first glanced them) and baby onions with olive oil and thyme (all cold) , topped with a little goat cheese, added dijon dressing - shallots, red wine vinegar, olive oil, chopped parsley, s/p. added a slice of bread with cheese on the side. and that was my dinner my celeriac went bad so I couldn't use it.

I am beginning to see once you make a recipe it seems easier as you had the experience. I am hoping I can share this with my d kids. Thinking I might do workshops for kids in scouts if their parents or a leader is present only. (it sounds like a dream so I really have to figure it out to see if it's worth the reality to do it)

You would be an excellent teacher, blessed. Do you mean you placed spinach in the foil and halibut on top of that before sealing, or were they separate?

We had salmon when dd33's family was here, with slices of lemon cut through the middle until only one side was still attached, and then twisted to form a "figure 8" look across each serving. Sort of like this. Brown rice that was fine in the microwave was a big help. For veggies, I steamed on the stove-top in my largest pot. I put broccoli in first, waited a few minutes and put asparagus over top of it. At the table, I separated the two veggies again onto two halves of the same serving bowl, but for a more casual meal it would be fine to set the steamer basket into a bowl or plate.

At the party, our cake theme was a fish, so I served lime sherbet and said it was seafoam.

I put the washed and shaken spinach first, then 3 slices of lemon, then the halibut or firm fish and then the compound butter.(any will do! butter mixed with herbs etc). there is a video on there by someone who made a herb compound butter that looks really good... I never make the full recipe because I don't have tons of people any more.... there is a picture on http://bernadettesgranddaughter.blogspot.com hope that helps... it was really easy and I like easy!

My aunt does this with zucchini and carrot sliced thin and olive oil and she says it's good
