The trick with pain control is that the situation is fluid.

I had a headache last night when the dilaudid wore off and since that was all that seemed wrong, I took tylenol which worked fine. I was up late because of the iv being hooked up again to give me my antibiotics but went to sleep at 11:30. At 2:15 I had another dose of tylenol (requested by me) and that settled me enough to sleep through until 5:55 when all heck breaks loose here. I had another iv hook up for antibiotics, my catheter was taken out and blood draw done by 6:45. I also took tylenol then but that never helped and at 8:15 I asked for dilaudid. They gave me the pill form instead of a shot and after 90 minutes I was still miserable so got the injection. We'll try pills following on from when the injection runs out.

I'm drinking lots (Harriet will be pleased.)

Not hungry. May be allowed to eat a bit of toast later today if I feel like it but will be on the clear liquid diet for now.

The resident met with me this morning and has a great bed-side manner. The supervising doc is great, too, but he's a man so there are a different rules regarding contact - she touched my arm, sat on the bed, lots of eye contact and smiles.

My new roommate is here and is cheery. She's just got a new knee. Scheduled. So no disastrous diagnosis for her to deal with.

K in C when I was in the hosp. I had allergy issues as well with some flowers and the nurses let me put them at their station I could see them occasionally that way. When I was in there my dsis called and asked what kind and silk were an option and I still have those lovely silk orchards!

I've mowed the back yard counting that for the rest of my exercise time for today.
I have the washer twins rebooted and laundry is folded one load left to put through.
Kitchen looks great.
Dgd #3 is here she is feeling puny found a Clifford The Big Red Dog DVD to watch. I'm SO grateful for finding these at yd. sales to have on hand.
the virus others mentioned is here as well I think. =(
There are like three movies I would not mind seeing at the $1 theater here this weekend.

Trash truck has been here and can is back in from the curb now.

Hi everyone. I hope Kathryn gets better and is out of hospital soon.

Toot toot! I got the new power cord installed on my new-to-me dryer and it WORKS! Rosie the Riveter would be proud. Toot toot!

Yesterday, I looked in on DD11's dog. Oh, was he happy! He had caught and killed a squirrel. He wanted to play with it. It smelled gross and he wanted me to throw it instead of a ball. NO WAY! But at least his automatic food and water dishes were performing nicely. After that, I worked on maid prep. These are done: MBR, DD's room, hallway, guest bathroom. The kitchen and LR still need work, but much progress has been made. The sewing room still needs a lot of work in general, but I did get to the shredding. Two and a half bins full!

This morning started with a call from DD. They are docked somewhere in Alaska and she will be whale watching today. She is having a good time except for the broken leg means she can't swim. She was concerned about the kittens. I also got an email from a member of the animal org - someone else may take over special events (YEAH!). Then the doctor called to move my appointment from two weeks from now to tomorrow (YEAH!).

Tuesday is normally Girls' Night Out with DD11, but she is in Alaska with XDH. I have found a Tuesday knit/crochet group at a deli, so I won't be tempted to sit around and mope. I have meetings the next two nights.

I crocheted my cat a catnip ball. She's nuts over it!

A doe with twin 3-week old (about) fawns with their spots on them, came up to our patio. The fawns were nursing their dmom. It was wonderful to see this this a.m. The squirrels ran off when she got near the house with her twins. The fawns were so adorable.

Aaaaack! Phone call from temple secretary that the little old lady alligators are on the move again today. I advised her to tell them she would have to check in with me on any demands they might make today. She said that one set up a meeting w Rabbi for 2 p.m. today. I'm beginning to think that one of them is perhaps not lucid. I sent a couple of emails to try to get ahead of one of the issues that she is hot about.

Bookie? I'm right there with ya, lady! May be starting my own thread soon....

Back to erasing footprints - I should head on out to run errands soon also, making it for difficult for temple secretary to check in with me on anything this afternoon.

Kathryn, sorry about the pain, glad it has stopped. A problem is that it takes more meds - and time - to stop pain that has started than it does to prevent it in the first place. (It's a chemical thing in the body...) And of course, you always do want to try and see whether or not you can cut the meds... but you end up needing to be careful about that. (Learned a lot when my dad broke his hip, yes, indeed...)

And see if the credit card company will cut you slack because you were in ER... sometimes they will, if you can prove an emergency, I gather.

Thinking of everyone else with medical issues - there's a collection today, isn't there? Especially Mr. Dee...

I'm just finishing lunch, and will then go out to the store (which I postponed from yesterday... I want to walk there, and it was *pouring.*) Then the CSA pickup.

helia, that was excellent advice! But I had a gift card for a local store so we decided to make that our first stop. It so happened they had one that stays secure, has no cut-outs, and is simple enough not to call much attention to itself. Dd's greatest aversion was to fabric design, so solid royal blue was her choice. She said any style could look fashionable enough as long as it was in plain dark fabric, but all the multi-color patterns seemed to scream "humiliating swimsuit" to her. She would touch them and shudder! Royal blue solid was like a relief.

I told HRH that my trip out might not make sense, and he said not at all, he had heard our conversation and was ALL FOR a one-piece "girl's swimsuit" that stays up, down and on! LOL (uh... no, Daddy, we're not in "girls" any more) If he only knew the placement of the cutouts some of them had - he is quite sheltered about the choices there are for Juniors sizes. Unfortunately, there are no separate sections for "Daddy's little girl Juniors" and "Cover of the sultry magazine Juniors".

Dee, I wish the nurse was bored with nothing to report, but glad she is on top of things when there is a reason to check with the doctor. Sounds like Mr. DeeClutter needs a chaise lounge and some sunny days to me.

Kathryn, so sorry to hear your hospital roomie had a bad diagnosis before she went home. I suppose they can't just let you move over to a window, but I'd like it if they had. No matter - I'm just so glad you are there and ready for change. What citylady said is something I was thinking also - the concept of "staying ahead of the pain", which can help to break the pain cycle.

Elizabeth, the dog had a really important "TaDa" there! In his world, he's having a very successful day!

There seems to be plenty of people sitting in the waiting room, so I have my car loaded up with goodies to take around. Stopping at Ken-in-Canada's with some chinese food for his dinner later; going by Dee's with a nice chicken dinner for them; and stopping by Sadie's with homemade chicken soup for them and DBrother who might not be able to chew. Have lasagna and salad and a cake for OKay's, lots of calories but figured they might need some comfort food after their day. Maybe leave a piece of that cake off at Twins also.

What is wrong with this village these days. So much stuff going on.

DH cut his arm taking down a plate glass mirror which shattered on the side he was holding. Thank goodness the homeowner who was holding the other side didn't get cut, his side stayed intact. Duct tape the mirror next time. He's never seen one shatter that way. The tiny spot in the middle which was still bleeding has stopped that nonsense. Ugly black threads sticking up all along. Bandaging and medicating once a day isn't hard.

I do hope everybody is doing ok. Waiting to hear what's happening with Mr. Dee.

Lilac, I thought your DGD had roseola! I remember that from my kids, but their red rash was all over them. Never heard of the one that she has.

Helia, a cat who is a beloved family pet is never just a cat! I hope she settles down a bit.

Okay, now for my POTB. Was feeling like this day was huge success. Not an abundance of business problems for a change. I got desk well in hand, bills paid, and even cleaned out and reorganized card and stationery (is it ar or er? the kind you write on) stash. One LOL hanging up; sheets changed and those hanging also. Kitchen cleaned up nicely, did clean some in the laundry room; 1 LOL folded and put away. House is looking good.

Dgd seems a bit feverish said she did not want to go any where I said no prob. no car here today. I called her mom to give her a heads up to have asprin for kids on hand and ready to give her some. I have baby aspirin but the dose is not on the bottle.

I've dug out plants in the way for when we do the patio b.b.q. cooking area, and prepped a spot for another rose to go in and planed where to put one more the neighbor has some starts of the wild ones that bloom in the spring that are pink I guess I sort of collect roses!

Dson just called and said there is a fire just over the hill from us but the wind is blowing the other way so we decided I"m okay. [I hear a fire truck now.] Told him to come get me if it's worse or I could get a ride out w/ neighbors, could take refuge in the basement. Speaking of which what's your emergency plan?

The family is ill and more are getting this bug that is going around so Father's day celb. is probably going to have to be postponed.

Got two eggs today.
