* whew * So glad to hear Kathryn is doing well!!!

:D :D :D Happy birthday, Elizabeth!!! :D :D :D

I thought I posted earlier today, but nooo... apparently not. Busy day w/dgs, of course... and I had a BUNCH of errands to run. (DH took over baby-duty in favor of me running the errands.)
Got dgs a new (new to us, that is) 'big boy' carseat for our SUV. Front facing. He's probably still a tiny bit small for it, but he's getting close to outgrowing the other, and he made the trip fine to TX in the front facing one that ds/ddil bought, so he's using it all the time w/them now. $15 at the thrift store. I was thrilled! I installed it. I was thrilled when that was OVER. Oh my goodness. What a chore.

I have also FINALLY finished writing all the thank you notes I need to send for ddad's flowers/food/etc. that was sent to me personally. I'll get those in the mail tomorrow.
Did that while dgs played in the playpen and watched Sprout.

Need to call dmom... see what doctor told her about her feet today. This is not for the bunion surgery; this is for some sort of weird growth/wart/??? on her second toe. Dmom is a walking medical encyclopedia.

No time to post more... must get back to baby duty...
Tomorrow is another day.

I'm off the IV and the oxygen now. Will almost definitely going home tomorrow.

The diet for the first three weeks is awful. Think 1970 processed food. Almost nothing whole grain, fresh or raw. I'm dumbfounded and have started a shopping list since I don't have the products in the house (smooth pb, white bread, digestive cookies, canned vegetables.)

So happy for you, Kathryn! You are unattached. I'm so happy for Ken and ds, too. Home again, home again, jigity jig. It's worth uninspiring food to get to have it from your own kitchen.

The storm was extraordinary and a deluge, but did not damage much here although reports from all around the area are sobering. One tomato plant is worse off but I'm hoping it will recover. HRH was glad he managed to get both yards mowed before the storm. He considers that quite a victory, because now the water-logged ground and grass is just soppy-soppy. This way, IF there's a chance the grandboys can play outside, say, by Saturday evening or Sunday, they will have inviting lawns ready for balls and frisbees and bubbles.

Sympathy cards idea - I sent one to a cousin and enclosed a book of pretty flower stamps. She wrote back the most complimentary note. She said we must have known she had so many thank-you notes to write and was dreading any trip right now, even to a post office.

Happy birthday Elizabeth.

Wow - a busy day for you Kathryn. Prayers for the smoothest recovery for you. I am so glad that you got in and out of surgery already.

Prayers for Mr Dee too - and all thats needed there (water pumps, and helpful folk), for the travellers too, and DD's visit.

Harriet -the result of yesterday's interactions was better than I expected. Though how the other/s chose to go on from here is not up to me. I'll still include them in my prayers. At least it is hard to be very annoyed while praying for the person/people ...

Its a sun shiny day here. Sheets are on the line.
I need to move myself some more and get some more value from this glorious day.
Just begin.
Living this day, today
Take a reality check; Remember to breathe; Do what I am able to do.
Look for the good in all.

Kathryn, I am so glad that you are doing so well.

My dm had her gb out about 8 or 9 years ago. They took her in at 4 pm or so. At 8 pm, they were showing them the door and she is throwing up. The drive home was 90 miles. The next morning she went to get her nails done. After that she drove 30 miles to the hospital where her dm was a patient. She sat all day at the hospital. And went on with her life. To say she is strong and determined is an understatement.

Dd1 and family are home. Dgs19 will be home, late tonight. Dd1 and I went to the boys games. Dd2s dh was home to babysit, but the little girls were going stir crazy, so they came with their mama.

Those fires in Colorado are horrible. Twice we had family reunions at a church camp on the Black Forest mountains. We are wondering if it is still standing. They are saying they zero control over that fire.

Yeah, dd1 and I can walk tomorrow. I need to buy groceries. I have no other errands to deal with.

Need to head to bed......

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Elizabeth! Hope you had a wonderful day :) .

Harriet, you are an (insert fancy French accent here :) ) ar-tist! That was a beautiful birthday banner you made for Elizabeth.

Ken, thank you so much for the updates!

Kathyrn, I'm so glad you didn't have to wait any longer & that you are awake & doing well :D . Some post op things I remember being told: No lifting. Walk every day (but just a few minutes at a time, several times a day, & slowly -- don't overdo it). My surgeon's nurse was emphatic about me taking all my pain pill doses the first week, & not trying to cut back until after that. I felt tired & weak & woozy for 2 or 3 days & slept a lot. The pain pills may have caused some of that. Dh thought anesthesia effects, too , since I went home the same afternoon.

Your incisions may be ouchy at first when you need to sit up & down or do anything involving your abdominal muscles. It helped a lot when dh pulled my arms in a fast & steady motion to help me sit from a lying position. Dr checked incisions about two weeks later, then one last check at one month. I remember he pressed on each incision while I was lying down (it didn't hurt) & had me lift my legs -- said he was feeling for hernias. You will feel better & stronger every day. I'm so glad you get to go home tomorrow! And I love you, too, Kathryn. ((Hugs))

Waving ~~~ back to Harmony from last night :) .

Lucylee, I've heard that crumpled up newspapers stuffed into enclosed spaces for 2 -3 days will remove odors, too (but I've never tried it).

Way to go on your walk, MT! You said you were going to walk a mile & you did it.

I hope Mr Dee is no longer having any discomfort in his lung & that it has stopped raining by you, Dee.

It has been stormy & rainy since last night here. Still raining, but no thunder for a while. Lots of storms today. Dcat meowed at the basement door until we opened it to let him go down there & hide. We leave the door cracked an inch so he can come back up when he's ready. Ddog has been shadowing us all day, too -- she's no fan of thunder, either. We are just so happy that strong winds & hail passed us by, & that we didn't lose electricity. The sump pumps are getting a workout. When the power goes out dh sets up the generator to power them so the basement doesn't flood.

Sweet dreams, everyone.

Have tried lemon in microwave today.

Now trying coffee.

Will use newspapers and vanilla next.

* sigh *

Washed a load of clothes, washed all dgs' baby bottles, got thank you cards addressed & stamped -- ready to go -- and tomorrow's Flag Day, right? LOL. No mail. * sigh * At least I'm ready!

I'm ready to go to bed.... and gee, it's only 1:00 a.m.   Baby duty must have my adrenaline going in high gear.
Tomorrow is another day.
