Hello, villagers ~
I'm having another at-home day to prepare for action the rest of the week. Apron Day, yay! :D

Sewing group board meeting tomorrow night. Nothing on the agenda is controversial and we have 2 fun projects to plan, so it should be a good meeting.

Wednesday I will need to shop for Saturday's family reunion picnic.

Before yesterday, everyone was saying they were only going to be there for the picnic and not camp all weekend, so we did not bother to start getting any gear ready. Today I'm hearing that there might be a couple of campers after all.

DH and I use a sleeping tent and a screened kitchen tent, and DH said he does not want to camp if it's going to rain. Right now the forecast is saying 20-30% chance of rain, but of course that may change before Friday.

I am going to plan meals and shop as if we are camping. I always plan tried-and-true easy DH-favorite meals to cook on the camp stove, since we never know if we're going to be able to have a decent fire for cooking. I'm also a little squeamish about food prep in a campsite. I do as much of the kitchen work at home as possible. If we end up not camping, no big deal. I'll start making extra ice on Wednesday, we'll need it whether we camp or not.

The only thing "extra" that I'll buy is a case of bottled water. I don't bother with it at home, because we have a Brita filter pitcher and I'd rather use a refillable mug. However, I don't trust the water in the park -- especially these days with flash flood problems all over the state. I'd rather haul my own water for drinking, cooking, and washing dishes.

All of our gear has been stored in the basement for a couple of years. I will need to pull up my packing list and see what needs to be cleaned. I'll start with the stuff that we will want to take even if we're only going for the day, so it will not be wasted effort. I know the big cooler needs a thorough scrubbing and disinfecting.

I'm getting the laundry caught up today. I thought I knew what I wanted to wear to the reunion picnic, but that outfit may change if we end up camping.

Hi, Emptynester! I'm glad you're having such a good time after your angst.

Waving to everyone. Afternoon CI I've cleaned under the chicken's roost. The black hen showed up mid-morning for food and water. I still can't find her nest ~sigh~ oh well so I have two hens broody at the same time.

On our walk [one block] the house on the other side of us had some chickens in the front yard at first I thought ours were out but they have some the same age as our younger ones but a couple were diff. breeds. They had 4 one Rhode Island Red, a barred rock, Easter egger, and Wyodontte [sp?] out eating bugs in their front yard. I'm a bit envious of the fence the have in the front yard. I must admit.

I baked cookies this morning and packaged them up for h.'s lunches for the week hoping that will keep me from eating them.
I finished reading the book I've been reading for June yesterday. I have another one ready to begin.

Watch gardening show x
make bed x
nap x
lunch x
process mail x
watch toons w/ dgd *

Today is the only day I have dgd and she's been great drawing with the princess activity kit I got for ten cents at a yd. sale on Sat. worth my time and energy today glad I did go do some yd. sales after all.

Store run still not done thinking H. & I can do that and have evening meal out.

Dh's committee is here, meeting downstairs in the playroom. I made butterscotchies for them and helped dh set out some drinks, hot and cold. I also sent some grapes down for them. The house is OK; the living areas are neat and vacuumed. The play room is likewise neat and vacuumed. The bathroom upstairs is clean. I moved the cat's stuff out of the bathroom downstairs and set her up back in the laundry room, but I still need to wipe up the bathroom floor where some of the litter got wet with water and didn't vacuum up. I'll do that another time. It's not particularly clean (kids' bathroom) so dh told his guests to use the upstairs bathroom. One friend, an artist, has gushed over dd17's artwork.

I have emailed dd15, so she will get an email at camp tomorrow. Dd17 emailed her this morning so she got her email today. (Emails must be in by 11 a.m. the day they're given to the campers.)

There are still some very tall weeds in the ground cover along the street on our property, but I couldn't get to that today. I actually hope to get to it tomorrow, along with a good bit of other yardwork. Tomorrow will be cooler. Also, I won't jog or need to go to the groc. store, so I should have large swaths of time. Ha!! We'll see if that actually happens or not.

Tonight, I'm going to
- fold the small mountain of towels I moved to my bed
- work on last month's book club book; last night, I finally finished April's book, To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf. I like Virginia Woolf a lot, but she is not light reading for me, and so I needed large pockets of time when I wasn't tired to read the book. Somehow, I remember Mrs. Dalloway catching my interest more than this book did.

I slept for almost 3 hours this afternoon and then had a light meal of a 200 cal frozen dinner. After that sat on my tummy for a bit and I knew it would be fine, dh and I went grocery shopping. Did two stores in the village 10 minutes from here and got mainly milk, veggies and fruit plus some meat for tonight's dinner.

I sat on the floor in front of the fridge and put things away, pulling out food that was no longer good. Ds's chicken breast, bought on Thursday, was still good, so he cooked it up tonight for a dinner for himself (and a half meal for me) tomorrow. Dh made up a meat and potato stir fry for our dinner and I worked sous-chef, mainly on the cleaning since the kitchen was a disaster from my lunches.

After dinner I asked dh to vacuum upstairs for 15 minutes. It has been an hour and he's still at it. Not sure what the issue is. I loaded the dishwasher, emptied the garbage, washed down the counters and ds washed up the few dishes that needed being done by hand and then swept and mopped the kitchen floor for me. I'm assuming I can't even run an electric broom for a while.

I'm waiting for the floor to dry so have moved my computer to the living room.

With all the cooking done tonight, my meals for tomorrow and possibly the next day are covered now. I won't have to resort to a frozen meal.

My fitbit turned itself off while I was sick (no use) and I didn't realize that so recharged it and put it on today. Very disappointing to not get credit for all the steps I've done.

This was a pretty long day, but it was not b/c of dgs...
DS & DDIL met us after our second stop, and in those first two, dh sat in car w/dgs and I ran in and out of stores. Very quick errands there. Then when we got to the fabric store, where we were going to have to take him in with us, ds & ddil met us and they went in the store, too. Then they took dgs and went home, and we went to Wmart.
After that, of course, we had to unload our groceries, take dmil hers, and then come home & eat.

I had other things I needed to do, but I guess what made the day long was
* phone call to doctor for renewal of rx
* phone call to upholstery man to come measure our couch
* phone call to ticket office for baseball tickets for dh
-- after helping dh on computer order and seeing that yes, he was right, it was not going to cooperate

Tomorrow I have to call local business re: school order where invoice has still not been received
and make haircut appts for dh & myself...
and we will go to nursing home for monthly music night.
* whew *
I'll need to call dmom & see if she wants to join us.

Also... REALLY need to be vacuuming. I hope the upholstery man doesn't have to turn the couch over when he measures tomorrow.

However -- I am a little proud of myself. Managed to do all morning routine, including "5 min. exercise," even with the unexpected arrival of dgs!
ALSO -- I have done most of the night time (bedtime) routine, and got the toilets s/s and kitchen orderly before bedtime.
I am SLOWLY working on re-building my routines. I'm going to concentrate on morning & bedtime before I start building in the afternoon/zone focus parts.

Waving to all. I am pretty tired. I know it is because I have been on a sugar binge today that you would not believe... so I will not even begin to confess except to say I must have totally lost my mind and I PROMISE to do better tomorrow.
Tomorrow is another day.
