EN I've seen that show a couple of times!
Trying to get educated on apps. for phones & tablets etc. looking up jelly bean one now but my phone already has blue tooth but we've not used it.
I've rebooted the dishwasher.
It sure does not feel much like first of summer here today. Thunder and light rain 71* here.

I will have to find that KOA show. We never stay there as we call it Keep on Adding. Their base rate is low but then there is a charge for this and a charge for that. Plus they are usually full of kids and dogs which we "Old people" don't like.
We are now in Gillette at the Moose Lodge boondocking (no hookups) with two of our friends. We go into the Escapade on Thursday and will have full hookups for a week. Yippee - hot showers, and fans.

Re: First Tuesday of Summertime
Hi everyone! It was an eventful weekend for me. Someone ran into my car and dented it on Friday. Monday, I got an estimate of the damages and sent it to her, but have not heard back. She does not want to use her insurance, but may change her mind when she sees the total. Sunday, I took DD11 to Monsters University and had to drop her off at XDH's house. The other woman (aka xFriend) has moved in. This time she did not hide in the garage when I came in. We said hello and that was it. She used to be a very good friend, at least I thought.
I need to call the vet and get neuter appointments set up for Gravity and Levity, now 3 months old. Last night, I should have done useful stuff, but ended up finishing a book instead.
Tonight is Girls' Night Out with DD11. Not sure what she will want to do. I wouldn't mind taking her back to the Tuesday knit/crochet group, but since she does not have a project, that will probably not work. After that, I need to do some financial stuff: pay at least one bill, update Quicken, and balance the checkbook. I should also cook the flank steak I bought yesterday. I hope I can substitute vinegar for red wine. Or maybe I have enough sherry to substitute. I don't have red wine because I hate it. However, I am bored with all the things I know how to cook, so I am trying new recipes.
ETA: Am getting a headache, sure hope it is not a migraine coming.

Re: First Tuesday of Summertime
Harriet...I thought the same thing about my son when he started doing those mudder evernts
Must be a dough kinda day around here. I just got back from my errands. Decided to try a new Chicago style deep dish pizza for Sweetie's dinner tonight....I will be eating chicken thatnk you very much. The crust is made from frozen bread dough. It takes 4-7 hours to thaw depending on the temp. of your kitchen. I decided to speed things up a tad and thaw the bread out in my garage where the temps are hovering around 97*: hotter than my kitchen, but not as much as outside. The recipe comes with great reviews so we shall see. If it turns out good, I'll post the recipe.
I've been to the library...Tue morning is a good time to go. Plenty of new addition books being shelved which haven't had a chance to be picked over. I usually end up going most Tue. because I like to read what is called "Express Books". You can only check those out for a week at a time.
I thought of y'all while I was scouting out the grocery parking looking for a space under the trees. Everyone else around here always has the same idea, so sometimes those slots are hard to come by. However, I was lucky this morning...

I thought of y'all with kids in school. This was a student's history project. I would have given him an A+

Y'all might find this interesting...Billy Joel is a hugh history freak. He wrote "We Didn't Start the Fire" to teach kids about the events that had happened during his life time. I use this with my students, plus a few good protest songs from the 50's ~ 60's
See how much you remember....

Re: First Tuesday of Summertime
Very cool assignment, Cowinkie. I like that Billy Joel song! I don't have time now to check out the link, maybe later.
Kids here have to be 14 years and 8 months for the first segment of drivers ed, Harriet. We usually do it during the summer, but it is a 3 week course and dd15 does not have 3 consecutive weeks in town this summer.
We thought about the fall, but she really wanted to get it done before then, which has turned out great. With extra drumline practices and marching every game in the fall and being in the sym. band + the France band, not to mention synchro starting up again around Tgiving, her fall will be very full as it is. . . .
Done:
x picked up dh's car with him
x a.m. routine finally finished
x lol #1 washed and dried; lol #2 washed. Need to switch
x cat care - fed and scooped 2 litter boxes (old one and new one for when she was injured)
x checked on hens, got the mail
x went through mail
x phone call from dfriend. We can't trade g. pig care for our vacations this summer; we're going on vacation at the same time!! Ack!!
x printing out bank statements to reconcile; I'm 3 months behind.
Next:
- DPC for vet appts. for Lily (reg. check up) and Maia. I'll bring them in separately since they don't exactly comfort each other. . . .
- work on financial stuff
- switch laundry
- start dinner at 4:45? maybe, so I can. .
- go to the gym w/ dd15 and dfriend S at 5:30. S and dd15 will swim; I'll do the elliptical and maybe get my HGTV fix.

Re: First Tuesday of Summertime
Long meeting this morning covered several additional topics that "needed to be discussed." I got home, lunched, and sacked out. Yes, Helia, I was up at five - back when I worked outside the house that wasn't that unusual, but it is now. DMacs was ready for breakfast then, and once I was a little awake I decided to write for temple bulletin since that was overdue.
I woke up from mega nap feeling sleepy and disoriented and I'm having iced coffee as a wake up. Ds called and is picking up Chinese for us on his way home from work - dh is playing tennis tonight but will probably come by home to change clothes as it's five minutes away.
Somewhat troubling phone call from dd at camp - says she feels depressed and her other foot hurts now. The first session at camp is over on July 7 and second session begins on July 10. Hopefully we'll get her home and see what is going on then.
Has probably been two hours since I started writing this, and I'm still sitting here.... pass the BGS, please.
-empty dishwasher
-clear kitchen counters
-take out trash
-get trash can from the street
-get mail and process

Re: First Tuesday of Summertime
Other photos the teacher had added to compliment Billy's Joel's chorus, that I noticed, were Haley and the Comets, Agent Orange, Jimi Hendrix, and the Nixon/Kennedy debate. Very well done, and then to have the links below the video is like 20 history lessons on one page. But Billy Joel's not that old, is he? lol
Twins' Mom, if she has been favoring that foot it could make the other hurt now but not be a big problem, let's hope. Sigh. I can see how it could be discouraging.
Got one call from the family dd is with today. Mother says dd has been giving pep talks. Also that dd was mistaken believing they were going to a hospital, but it is a dental surgery-specific clinic, not actually a hospital, so friendlier atmosphere, they hope. I gave my usual advice of get the pain reliever in your hand quick (doctor's responsibility to help) and give a little food before meds if possible. I'm sure everyone will be working to see to it the experience is not too bad.
Shade parking - I can sometimes be a real eagle-eye about this, gauging the sun's position and potential change and scanning the parking lot!!! I'm especially vigilant if I've been to the vitamin store, because I want to keep those purchases cool-ish. Our usual grocery store does have some good shade at the far ends, plus two shade trees within the sidewalk at the door, which are nice when walking in/out. Unfortunately, the (newer) healthy grocery was built on a bare lot - go figure. When I was covering town meetings, we used to regularly hear about demands from the planning board to plant trees, but I guess that's not a given.

Re: First Tuesday of Summertime
DD & I took dgs8 to see "Monsters Univ" too, Elizabeth. We all enjoyed it, except had trouble keeping my eyelids open.
Took leftovers from last night's dinner over to dd's a short time ago. Dh and I had a pork barbecue dinner to eat from Saturday. Have done that & dh is going for his shower shortly. I have to get his med changes typed up for the Dr -he has an appointment at 7. I cancelled my appt. with my Dr. for tomorrow as the visiting nurse is coming again. They were totally understanding. Think I'm beginning to become overwhelmed. Emotionally I'm beginning to feel the constant ongoing things happening. This village helps as I look at all of us going through something.

Re: First Tuesday of Summertime
My kids have always enjoyed Billy Joel's music, and "We didn't start the fire" was a particular favorite given that I'm a history buff. So that will lead a SHE far astray, for sure.
Dh is home sitting in front of the TV playing tennis in 45 minutes.
-clear breakfast bar level
-clear kitchen table
-get rid of 25 pieces of paper
-take out paper recycling to garage
-pack up a return to drop off tomorrow at post office
