We haven't watched the baking show yet Harriet, but there are soooo many shows we haven't seen yet. I printed off your post about the bread to have Mr. Guy read. (He had his first cataract removed today so hasn't done much reading of anything yet.) Something (?) happened at the surgery center and we were 2 and half hours waiting, waiting waiting. This is ridiculous and Dr. is going to hear from me when we see him in the a.m. We almost got up and left, but thought better of it.

Mr. Guy was so hungry when we got home he about ate me out of house and home. Slightly went off his diet, but I didn't object. He will go back and eat properly tomorrow. It was my fault. I didn't prepare properly for him.

YAY BLACKHAWKS! Have to root for the winner from our division.

Twins' Mom, if you can wait until tomorrow, I emailed your question to dd14 and her younger friend! My first thought was 12 years 1 month, or 12 years 11 months - they change so much then! I think that's when the single-word answer, "Mo-ther!" starts.

We've had dinner and I've rinsed and loaded the dishes in to the dish washer. I've read two chapters in my qt book today & got lots of notes in this week's readings.

It's been raining then the sun came out and I'm sure there is a rainbow out now. It's supposed to warm up from 70's to 90*-100* by Mon. sigh not used to that for sure.

So, Cowinkie, how much of the Queen Elizabeth book do you think is true? I mean, if it's historical fiction... will we know when we finish it how much is true and how much is made up? I think I would like to read it. Must write that down...
I think I have about a dozen books to read on my nightstand right now... And I have trouble staying off my new phone long enough to read anything!!! I have got to learn to limit my time better. * sigh *

DGS is sitting in the bouncy seat watching S prout TV right now. He grew very tired of dh & me after a couple of hours, and ds & ddil have out-of-town guests tonight. Young couple w/no children, so they went out to eat and they will come get dgs later.

Tomorrow will be dgs's first birthday, and we'll be celebrating at dmil's -- but my dmom is supposed to come to. Just a small party -- us, the great-grandmothers, and dbil & dsisil. That's plenty, I think. DS & DDIL aren't the type to put on a big production and invite everyone they know. She said next year we might go to C huckie C heese & invite my little cousins.

We also have to go to my aunt's mother's funeral tomorrow. I haven't seen them since Sunday, when her mom passed away. Y'all know that bothers me, b/c if ddad were alive, HE would have been at their house Monday AND today... not that daunt would really WANT that much attention, but that's just how ddad was, and in the back of my mind, I think that is how I am supposed to behave. OTOH, dmom fixed homemade vegetable soup for them yesterday and carried it to them, and I called them on the phone today. Daunt was sleeping. So I know she needs her rest. She had spent almost 3 days straight w/her mom @ the nursing home before she passed away.

Yesterday, we got dh signed up for Soc. Sec. and got fabric to cover our couch. Plus groceries, etc.
Today, dmom & I met w/dbil-lawyer and then we ate lunch together at local sandwich shop, so we've been pretty busy both days.
I also talked to dsgm today. Neither my uncle nor aunt had personally called to tell her about daunt's mother's death. I think that's kind of bad and I am trying to stay in touch with her. I don't want her to think we've all just pushed her out of the family since she moved out of their/our house.
(Hmmm... dmom & I talked about that. I am hoping it is partly "our" house. I think dbro & I should share ddad's 1/3 of the property belonging to dgfather. I think daunt and duncle feel the same way, but no one has actually discussed this with me or dmom... hmmmm... It's not much to speak of. On a really great day, the house might bring $50-$60 thousand... to be split three ways. It's just the principle of the thing that concerns me, but not enough to make a fuss. It will just hurt my feelings if I find out dbro & are shut out of this since ddad had the misfortune to be the first of his siblings to die.)

ANYWAY. Twins -- I sorta think 12 year old girls @ camp would enjoy the glow sticks... but I'm not a good authority on that. But OTOH, maybe I am. At college & career day, any silly thing that was given out was always a huge hit w/my 9th graders, and even older kids. When B urger K ing first opened in our town, kids who were old enough to drive would "Check Out" of school, go to BK and come back wearing their crowns.

The bad news is ... I tried a new plastic zip-strip "tool" thingy that's supposed to pull hair out of the bathroom sink drain. It seemed to be doing an ok job -- until suddenly there was water leaking out from the cabinet under the sink. So I guess the seal around the P trap came unsealed? I mopped up the water and I'll deal with the rest tomorrow.

The good news is ... after 3 long phone conversations today with a sewing group member, I may have found someone to take over as president of the group next year. *\o/* She wants to sleep on it a night or 2, but gave me a tentative yes.

Twins'Mom ~ I don't know if 12 year old girls would like glow sticks at camp, but I would. Fun for dancing in the dark!

Hi again everyone! For Girls' Night Out, DD11 and I ate Chinese, then went to JoAnn's to buy stuff for a project. Originally DD wanted to go to the knit/crochet group, but changed her mind. She was actually looking for a stuffed dragon pattern, but decided on a Beanie Baby style bear, made with camo fleece. We have started some cutting, but there is much to go. She had also promised one of her friends that she would ask me to crochet her a bear. I promised only to consider it. It is a 'rainbow bear' and I have to find out what she means by that. I will probably do it, because I like doing things that people actually want. DD requested extra time with me tonight, which is good. However, it means I will be up later working on my list which is:

Update Quicken
Pay at least one bill
Balance checkbook
Make marinade for flank steak
Throw out yucky dish and make note in cookbook NOT to use that again
Cat care (including meds for dFosterCat11)
Trash and recycles out

I remembered to call my parents on their anniversary, have made arrangements for dFosterKittens neutering, voted some proxy stuff, and dealt with some mail. I am going to do the cat care and trash out now. I may check in later.

hummmm Lucylee....I think the 500 yr old story is very possible which for me makes it all the more intriguing. However Sweetie would be the first one to tell you that I love a good conspiracy theory. The present day story of the book was good, but the back story was way better.

Much of what was written in the book concerning Henry VIII can be documented throughout the internet. The Tutors' secret was so fascinating to Bram Stoker...yes of Dracula fame..that he took it upon himself to investigate and write about this legend. In a world where loosing your head was a very real possibility should you piss off the king...the story holds merit, at least to me. Nothing surprises me much any more. I'm thinking there are a few uncomfortable royals sitting over the pond hoping they can convince their subjects that this story is all poppycock.

My pizza tonight was a huge success. Sweetie said my pizza was one of the best he has ever eaten, and he's certainly an expert on the subject. BTW...this is the first pizza I've ever made. I'll post the recipe tomorrow morning.

Twins...Twelve year olds...I'm with Harriet...it depends on which side of twelve the girls are. Isn't Elizabeth's dd that age???

Oh Lynnlee...I still wish I could help you somehow. I'm like the others around here and am glad that you have such good friends near by.

Hugs to y'all. I tried to sleep without my meds last night... went to sleep without it, but by 12:30 am I was still tossing around in my bed. I gave up and took 1/3 of a pill. Tonight I am going to try an OTC Un isom generic brand. Just hope it doesn't make me have bad/weird dreams like it sometimes does. Nitters.....

It is 11:30 in my time zone, later than I should be up. DD11 is around the age that TwinsMom was inquiring about, but she is definitely not representative of her age group. She has trouble relating to peers and is somewhat immature.

Update Quicken - DONE!
Pay at least one bill - DONE! Paid 2, including figuring out how to do it online for one of them.
Balance checkbook - DONE!
Make marinade for flank steak - DONE!
Throw out yucky dish and make note in cookbook NOT to use that again - DONE!
Cat care (including meds for dFosterCat11) - DONE! Getting the meds in a cat is a pain in the tailbone, for both me and the cat.
Trash and recycles out - DONE!

Tomorrow, I need to cook the flank steak (get to use my $2.50 grill again!) and get my tail in gear on the job search.

I am quite tired, so I will do my devotions and go to sleep. G'night folks!
