Slept poorly again and not as optimistic as yesterday morning, nor as optimistic as Twins!

Muffins (last of the batter) are in the oven.

It is very cold and pouring rain here. A very depressing start to a long weekend. Canada Day is July 1. Our neighbourhood party is supposed to be Saturday night but Sunday night is our rain day and we may need it. I'm picking up food for that today while I'm out this morning.

My hip hurts. No idea why. I didn't do anything much yesterday, nor the day before. My ankle started to hurt just before bed last night but now it is my hip and I'm limping badly and walking hurts (as in squeak of pain when I first put weight on it.) Not sure how to fix this (I have physio I can do for knee or back but have never had hip issues.)

Today is a day to try and get caught up on paperwork after we do all the grocery shopping and errands.

Good morning, dear friends.

That's a wise quote, Twins' Mom.

HRH is off to his dr appt today, hoping these last three months of careful diet have been well done. He has a list of points to mention, but it comes down to whether some marker or another has a well-done change.

We've enjoyed having dd home a few days but she'll probably be heading off to a sleepover this afternoon. So I need to nag a little about whether clothes are ready, that sort of thing.

Ddil has interviewed and been offered a part-time (36 hours) job. To me, that's not so part-time, but it is when you are an RN, she explains. She didn't want to wait much longer to make sure her certifications are all in order and being used. It's been almost 2 years since she became a mom. She'll be working at a branch hospital of the largest hospital authority, mostly pediatric, nothing urgent but mostly scheduled procedures. So she'll be blessed to have daylight hours. We don't know how many changes will come from this insofar as their household's schedule. Ds will be cutting back on his long hours somewhat.

Ivy, your organization sounded really smart last evening.

Kathryn, I hope this new pain is a passing one, quickly forgotten.

OKay, enjoy your time with dgs.

Kathryn - This is a long shot. I wondering if your knee/hip problems could be coming from shoes? I'm thinking about when DMom and myself both experienced similar problems when we switched away from our normal foot wear. DMom spent months going to podiatrist because she was in such pain. She had started wearing slide on shoes and he said they were the worst shoe for support. He put her in special doctor designed shoes ($$$$) but the pains continued. Last year after the doctor said he had no further ideas to help her, I challenged her to return to the shoes she wore for years and didn't have any problems She bought a couple pairof the shoes that served her welland within a couple months all of her problems went away. I had the same experience with wearing different brand boots and shoes. It takes my body a couple months to return to normal movement with no pain.

Good morning! I'm back from my morning jog with dh. I've done that faithfully every other day this week so far; may skip Sunday morning, the next jogging slot -- we'll see.

PODA:
- WW Meeting, maybe? I see that OK and I are on a similar WW meeting schedule!!
- short response to each birthday greeting I got on fb yesterday! It was fun to see them all, one of the best things about fb.
- check on teaching certificate; call woman in the office in Illinois if needed, which I suspect it will be
- finish cover letter; at least one resume in mail
- forsythia bush trimming
- maybe shopping with dd15?
- groc. store
- laundry
- dinner w/ kids; I'm going to push eating leftovers at home since we ate out last night and apparently ds and dd15 (and S and R who ate here too) ordered pizza last night.
- drive down to a state park in Ohio with dh to meet up with friends. Actually, neither of us is particularly looking forward to this; he was a good friend of dh's during part of his time as a grad student, and they have made an effort to keep in touch. They're a bit socially odd sometimes, and we're very different, but they are good people with good hearts. They are bringing their 2 teenage boys. We are leaving our kids at home since ds and dd15 don't particularly want to go. And that simplifies dog care in our absence, too. Dd17 is away anyway. The idea is we'll stay at the park lodge tonight and then spend some time with them at the park tomorrow and leave early enough to get to some of our small group meeting tomorrow night.

I guess I'll need to pack for this little overnight foray too. . .

Off to get the a.m. routine underway.

My busy week is just beginning!!

Today the first of the vendors come in. Right now we have to check with the pipe and drape people to make some changes in the set up of the market. - Dividers in the wrong places, etc.

Also have to set up our system of moving vendors in and out of the loading docks.

We were the assistants three years ago and have done other jobs since then so we are a bit antsy about doing this.

We have good assistants and mentors so I think we will be fine.

Hope you all have a great day.

Frustrations continue here with one of the emails sent last night. Have already emailed a trusted member of community for advice, hoping to set up a meeting today, Monday or Tuesday.

Today I need to get to my dmom's for awhile. Trying to get out of here in the next hour as dcleaning lady will be here this morning.

Have a li&t of needed phone calls and need to get to them also - perhaps before I head out is possible.

I've s2s-ed and am straightening up and doing a.m. routine for dcleaning lady now.

CI: Happy to report that I've survived the week and I"m doing great this morning here. Sun is shining 8-) chickens are out and happy, dishes are going bed is made. Not looking forward to the triple digits next week and we've changed our plans for the BBQ dd & fam. are going camping.

I have a q. about the tablets with andriod apps do you like for them to keep track of to do lists for house hold stuff or do you just use the calendar?
I'd like an application that I could listen to sermons & such on the p/c nook or what ever does not look like nook has video / movie abilities for the price they should hum... maybe that's why they are on roll back.
I've not used skype so investigating that now learning a lot. I had no idea it was a free down load.

PB cookie dough is made and in the freezer now.
The baby is here.

38% humidity 73* outside I turned on the fan to help with the humidity in the house. I'm thinking it's time for a walk with the baby before it is too hot to enjoy it.

:?: Guys, didn't we have mentions here about swelling at the point of blood-work sticks? That is definitely happening with HRH right now, and very sore. Should we be concerned? They went in through the back of the hand. Swelling is at that point and at another point on the back of the hand. It's not red, but weird.

Otherwise, he had a very good visit and lots of optimism. As far as what could be told so far, he and dr. are pleased with the nearly-vegetarian plan. He seems to have put the "pre-diabetes" talk behind him and lost 9 more pounds in these 3 months. I was a little disappointed that the dr didn't say a word about his more obvious new waist size. (I think a woman dr would talk about it with a woman patient.) I think it ought to be an AMA rule - patients who go down a belt notch always get a toy, a sticker or sugar-free lollypop.

HRH's younger brother dropped by and he says that for the first time, he is the biggest guy in the family. He offered that HRH is eligible to get a family discount on some staple entrees through him (meat-alternative and fish-alternative), which was very thoughtful. HRH suggested he try vegan eating with him, which was met with laughter. (He is an organic butcher.)

Footprints around here are getting handled. I have an extra load of laundry that needs doing. The kitchen needs work.

They will have great leadership in The Emptynesters.
