Wednesday Prep Day

Post by DeeClutter »

Do you have plans for the Fourth? At least for all our U.S. villagers. A belated Happy Canada Day to Kathryn BTW.

We usually go to Conesus Lake for a big gathering of friends on the 3rd -mainly from our Fire Dept. But our whole family has other doings today & we're just not really up to a crowd. There's a ring of fire around the big lake and fireworks. We usually try to leave before the fireworks -if we can get out. DD decided to stay here since no one else was going this year.

DSs, DDILs & DGSs leave tomorrow early for Camden, OH for WKA races. So they'll all be gone for the 4th and beyond. DS-A's birthday is Friday, so will give him his card/gift if he gets out here to see his DDad before they leave.

DH didn't sleep at all well again last night and was quite winded this morning, so will just keep an eye on things. Nurse will be back to see him on Friday. She has been utterly fantastic. Discovered yesterday that she stops at some T im H Orton's nearly every day, so dh wants me to pick up a gift card for her. She brought us a 'skinny' version of their iced capp yesterday as a treat. Good -but too much sugar for me -dd finished mine.

Have to get over to dd's she's making a big breakfast -the works this morning.

Waving to Dee. Prayers for your family

My elbow xrays checked out ok. Most likely soft tissue. I have a form for bone density check when things settle down. I used buses to town and home. My walking needs to beef up again when my arm stops jolting when I walk. Have lost condition quickly.
plumber in the morning. new taps. Sink and basin had been dripping again already.
gate hinges on friday. It will be great not to have to lift gate to open it.
Just begin.
Living this day, today

Lynlee, that's good you are getting some things done around the house. Remember as these men accomplish their work, you also might have small items with which you could ask for help before they leave. Reaching, lifting, changing a light bulb. So glad about your x-rays.

Dee, I was wondering if a second good night's sleep was too much to ask for yet.

More sleepover situations have kept me so busy and kept me from doing what I need to do. Healthy habits have suffered. Thankfully, today is the last day for a while. I need to redeem my own routines.

Rains here are extremely newsworthy. The headline yesterday said, "Wet Weather Playing Havoc". We have a road closing at an inconvenient place for us on the way to closest small town, and the latest news says it will last a month and a half. I have some things to report in Outdoor Spaces and Gardens, too.

Probably is "too much to ask for yet" as you say, Harriet.

Dcampowner stopped as he's 'worried' about septic emptying list formed by dh's summer replacement. Asked dh if he's "down that way" could he just look at the list. One called him as he's "full" and not on the list to be emptied. COwner worried there may be more that dh might realize looking at it that need a 2nd glance. This one happens to be one that dh had told replacement he has to really watch as it can fill quite rapidly. (Job security?)

Glad that dh can go about a little on the golf cart. We both need that little time apart here 'n there.

Going to go to the laundry room later and do one load. Really need to make a W mart run & then realized today will be a CRAZY day at the stores. I'll see.......... how badly do I need to go? Who's going to be here tomorrow? Oh OTOH that won't be until Sat. when the fireworks take place. Need to call our old neighbors to see if they want to come out that day. If so I need to get wrist bands & get them to them beforehand. Security is very strict here on that day. Lots & lots of people here -we mainly stay at our own RV and out of the mix. All sorts of activities and then the fireworks (which is always a big show and the roads are lined all the way around this area.) We have a perfect spot to watch this year -from DS-R's new site has nothing in the way and fireworks usually drift away from there. We might even be able to hear the loud speakers from there. Usually have a wonderful singer doing the "Star Spangled Banner" and then there's music to match the fireworks. Normally can't hear that.

Good morning, villagers ~

We have dropped our plans for camping this weekend. It just got too complicated because DH's department is so swamped with work, he has to go in Friday. Add that to fighting the holiday crowds in the campground -- not just for space to set up the tents, but also things like having to wait in lines to use restrooms. Skip it, we'll try for next weekend and as long as the weather cooperates, it will be much more relaxing.

It's going to be a cool evening and I'm not seeing anything interesting in tonight's tv listings. I wonder if DH would like a fire in the back yard? I have no idea if Tiny Town will be doing any kind of fireworks tonight or tomorrow night.

Slept ok (forgot to take pain pill but was too lazy to get out of bed to root around for the advil.)

Breakfast was chaos here with far too many people and staff who were not on their game until it was too late. After 20 minutes of it not working, I finally pointed out to a manager-type person that a circuit was broken so there was no juice and no waffle maker. She spoke to serving staff who confirmed that there was 'an electrical problem and engineering will have to be called after breakfast." They knew their was a problem but took the 'not my job' attitude and didn't even put up signs (so patrons had poured batter into the non-working waffle iron.) The staffer I talked to went and found the breaker and through it so we did get juice before coming upstairs. Between us and the US having a holiday this week, the hotel is packed with leisure travelers (a lot of families from the US to watch the baseball series with the Tigers.)

We are packing up now, and then lunch and the train.

Before anyone gives out gold medals, I have to actually keep it together long enough to do something at my dsis' house. XBIL messaged back later yesterday about the time frame, and I said I want to get moving since I'm paying the electric bill and property taxes will come due again in October, and he said he would try to get cars moved by end of next week and start a pile of trash to go in the dumpster when it comes (after the cars are moved.)

Conveniently, today I received her property tax assessment which I need to appeal. Listing price that realtor friend suggested yesterday is about 1/2 of her tax assessment. Although her property tax is only about $250 it should be less.

I am really feeling down right now. My dsis' house, the temple issues with the falling wall and conflict with secretary, another temple issue I'm trying to settle, my boy Macs not feeling well, the constant rain here (continuing to end of the week!) I'm getting into a pattern of having difficulty falling asleep because my mind is going crazy, and then sleeping late and getting a late start the next day (i.e. today.) Dh hasn't been in the best mood either, and I'm a little put out with dd because we haven't heard anything from her, despite several texts and a mailed package she should have received last week. I'm thinking that probably means she is doing better - the last time we had talked she was feeling low. Vent over...

I have already walked ddogs and Macs had a decent walk after a terrible walk last night. I'm trying some dog psychology and letting him out in front of me and Moe no matter how slow he is walking. I dropped him off after a decent to good walk for him and Moe and walked more. In all, I got in 4,200 steps and 14 stairs - I'm glad because tonight may be a rain out.

Going to read the paper quickly, then get rolling. I need to run some errands today.

Good morning!

Experiment FAIL! We tried changing dCats' diet to something less expensive, still good, but not rabbit. Big mistake. I was up cleaning up after dFosterCat13 very late. I had to clean bedding, nightshirt, floor, sofa, catbox, and the cat herself. Double yuck! The poor cat is in the sewing room with the last of the food that agrees with her. After payroll, I am buying more of the rabbit food ASAP! When I get home, I have several unexpected LOLs waiting, a more thorough sofa cleaning to be done, probable sewing room cleanup, and a more thorough floor clean in places. Not good, and of course the cat is probably miserable as well.

In better cat news, the kittens are doing fine after their neutering and I no longer have to give dFosterCat11 medicine.

I need to look up times and locations for some 4th of July fun for tonight. Tomorrow, I am going to a friend's house.
