The villager on my mind last night was Maia, muddy and running toward helia.
Today, the weather is... .... torrential downpour again. Wow. Several phone calls (smile) tell us it will stop before the funeral, but of course the condition of the lawns all around us is dreadful. I cannot wear slacks to the funeral/graveside because dd33 has no slacks with her and I just won't let her go it alone. We will trek forth across the churchyard in dresses today and hold our heads high under the umbrellas. I never much liked these big old dress black shoes anyway, so were I to lose them to moisture I would just get to shop for new.

DD made a lovely 'barn quilt', 2'x2' (which hangs on the front of our shed) for Christmas. Now she's made one for DDIL's birthday next week for the side of their shed facing the roadway -4'x4'. DDIL#2 asked her to make one the same size as mine for a friend's birthday later this month. DSonIL is in FL working away at carving Tikis (large -3' or 4' & small) as well as some other special orders. He just carved a dragon fly with beautiful decorations (about 12"x12") for a friend from here for her dsis' b'day. He does do wonderful work. Now if he could only find a really good outlet for his artwork....... He does everything freehand and is very good at it. Would be wonderful if he could make a living doing what he loves!
We visited with the church musician, picked up mail and then I had a light lunch (crackers, butternut squash soup, orange.) I need to open my 'backdoor' as my nurse friend puts it and get my whole digestive system running now. I've been home 2 full days now so things have to get running today. Certainly, if they aren't running I can't consider taking the trip.
Dh is outside sunning. I think I'll lie down for a nap now.
Hoping for better than expected weather for Harriet and family.
Smiling at Kathryn's ptsd. I went home the same day as my surgery because I knew I wouldn't get any rest in the hospital. Every time I dozed off, a nurse was waking me to check vital signs.
Having a good day of doing piddly little things. Made a gallon of iced tea. Cleaned a window streak that had been there so long I had stopped seeing it for a while. Painted a tired old lamp with leftover bright red paint. It looks great! Makes me smile to look at it. Talked to DD on the phone. Processed the mail.
Off to see what other fun things I can do today!
BTW, Dee, I love those barn quilts. Had never noticed them or heard of them until you mentioned them on here.
All the creativity in your familiy sound beautiful, Dee. I gave my mom a book of barn quilts for Cmas.

Thinking of Harriet and family today. Hoping for nice weather.
I am grounded. I'm SO happy to be forced to stay at home. I'm starting to feel like my summer is busier than the school year, which is possible with about 3-4 hours of errands and meetings per day. Teaching team meeting was good. I got the groc. run done. I still need to buy white wine for the turkey recipe, but I'll trot over to WF after a bit.
Tomorrow' I'll be running around a lot too. Tomorrow's meetings will be: WW meeting, coffee with dh, possibly coffee with dh and a friend in small group. Tomorrow's errands will be: Costco to shop for Detroit VBS, card store to buy baby shower invitations for a shower for S and R (they want it to be for couples), and possibly a couple other sundry errands. Saturday, I have a meeting too. I need to make some phone calls before that meeting.
Oh, that was depressing to write out. I guess I hadn't realized how much running around I still need to do this week.
I'm feeling tired and slightly headachy, but my a.m. routine isn't even done. I think I'll take some Advil and do that.
86*-58* Today's temp. range. I walked a mi. this morning did my ten mi. in separate sections of 6 mi. & the 4 mi. on the ex. bike. I tried to post earlier this morning but was unsuccessful at that.
Got the laundry going, dishes are loaded, clean sheets are back on the bed now. I've done the mending. Spiffed up the kitchen counters and have a plan for dinner. Worked on the table for a while.
3 pullet eggs today so far, one was rough feeling and I found it outside the coop, it might be another new layer.
Dgd is feeling puny has had an off and on fever this week; her dad is going to come get her in a while to take her home. She slept most of the morning. The baby is here now too.
I'm back from taking DMom for her test. Then she needed to run by WM so I dropped her off in front so she wouldn't have to walk so far. On the way home we saw a fire burning in a pasture near hay baling equipment. No one was around so we called 911 and reported it. A few minutes later we saw the fire trucks headed that direction.
I burned my fingertips on hot door handle.....then on the hot seat buckle...and finally on the hot keys. I think the keys were the worst owie makers. I had to securely hold the keys in order to stick them into the ignition and start the car. Next car we buy, I want an ignition system that doesn't require the key to be touched! It is only 104 but touching hot things makes it seem worst.
I made good progress on paperwork this morning and am motivated to keep going. LO is napping so this is good timing to get going on it again.
Hi everyone! I did a very minute amount of database work last night and didn't do any filing or shredding. The meeting that I normally have tonight at church is cancelled, so I will do some more database work. (And maybe that filing and shredding). I just realized I don't actually own an apron!?! Guess it is still at XDH's house. (DD11 will use it there, so ok).
Okay: I actually crocheted a steering wheel cover for just that problem. I put it up as probably the last post in Arts, Crafts, and Needlework. A very silly, but fun project.

I'm stopping on processing papers. I am tired so making mistakes is more likely. I've processed 55 sets of papers today which is the most I've done in one day (this month). My current monthly count is 277 sets of paperwork completed. I think I see a light at the end of the huge paperwork backlog.
Harriet, I have been watching your 3rd cousin Ben on Jeopardy. Today he ended his streak but will be back for the next tournament of champions. I watched dgs19 for his first year. Every time the Jeopardy theme came on, he focused his attention on the show. I have always liked to watch Jeopardy and when someone gets a winning streak going, I try to not miss it.
