I'm up after a 3 hour+ nap. I think I was tired.

Today:
- said good bye to the girls who left for church early this a.m. to join the youth group on their annual inner city Detroit trip. Dd7 brought a friend from school, who went last year. It is a missions-type trip for sure, but it is also very fun and is one of the most popular youth group trips each year! They run a VBS for around 235 inner city kids ages 5 - 17, including providing a warm meal, as well as do neighborhood fix up projects. It is run through an inner city church our church supports and partners with.
- Before church, dh, ds, and I loaded the car with all the fruits and veggies for tomorrow's VBS
- Unloaded the fruits and veggies at church and brought them to the kitchen
- church service
- I stayed after church and, with the help of some other women, washed, cut, and bagged all the fruits and veggies for tomorrow
- packed dd17's car with the fruits and veggies, a large cooler full of water bottles for the teenage boys, paper goods, and around 500 homemade cookies (various members of the church made and contributed cookies!). Another dfriend took some of the fruits and veggies since I can't fit them all in my fridge
- drove home; unloaded car
- lunch on my own; read a little bit and then
- fell asleep for over 3 hours

To change things up, we are eating at S and R's house tonight! I'm not sure when we're going over there. Dogs need to be fed in the meantime. And we're out of milk. And I need to get ice for the cooler.

Long nap here, too. Now off to celebrate ddil's 21st birthday.
We're all eating out together w/dh's family. Dmom was supposed to go, but backed out -- just not feeling well, probably overdid it yesterday mowing yard, etc, etc.
We'll stop by her house on our way home & let her see dgs & give ddil her gift.

DH spends too much time on the computer and I don't get my turn. (He would probably say the same about me, of course.)

My days are not all that filled w/busy-ness & activity -- but I am seeing that my retirement hours may be somewhat influenced by dh's body clock... which means we stay up ridiculously late, and sleep ridiculously late. OTOH, I never did anything home-oriented before 4:00 pm when I was teaching, so any time I get ahead of that hour, I'm making progress, right?

Thursday, ds & I went to my late dgparents' house w/my uncle & prowled around, came home with an interesting little "telephone table" -- it's kinda a seat/shelf combination -- and a quilt stand which ddad made for my dgm. There's another sort of end table that I'm supposed to get also. In addition, duncle showed me another couple of pieces which ddad had wanted, but which dmom & I have no place to store, so I think we're going to let my cousins take them. I was more excited about getting some old-fashioned canning jars w/glass lids, and a box made from an old post office box from the post office in their town. Just a little tabletop box, about 10" x 5", I guess, w/the door of the old post office box attached. DS took all the records from the stereo, and we got Bibles belonging to my ddad & his dgf, and ddad's yearbooks. Also got a LOT of pictures of ourselves and dparents. I already have several quilts dgm made, and a very special ring that belonged to her and her mother, so I'm quite satisfied that I will have enough momentos if & when they sell this house.

If I type too much, this site seems to know it and my keyboard starts locking up... I'll type something and then... a few seconds later... finally... it will show up on the screen. This is what makes me want to )*&*(&)*(&)!@!@@!$#+)()+)

Anyway... I need to talk to dbro about anything he is concerned about re: dgparents' belongings.

Count me in the "long nap" category. Got up and ate the rest of the unstuffed cabbage for dinner. Dh doesn't really want anything yet. Very hot outside right now. Went to watch dgs8 race go karts but didn't stay for the whole thing. We pretty much stayed in our car with the AC running. Both napped when we came back -in the AC.

Maybe we'll take a run in the golf cart over to ds-R's.

We are WallyCamping in Miles City, MT. Travel day was wonderful. Cool, spotty sprinkles of rain, and then overcast day so the sun was not in our eyes.

So far we have 2 neighbors for the night and it isn't even 5 pm yet.

We will probably get to the lake a day early or I have another spot to visit. They had a fishing tournament at the lake this weekend and some people are staying over. So we go in on Tuesday when they are all gone.

CONGRATULATIONS LYNLEE!! So happy for your newest DGChild arrival.

Church was wonderful this morning. DH and I were able to sit in the congregation and listen to the entire sermon.

Afterwards we joined VDFriends in corner booth at local cafe. A couple of the teenagers had just returned from a month working on a ranch in Canada and had some tall tales to share. An attempt to rope a brown bear and another experience with a rope & a moose. I'm not sure I believe all their stories, but they swore it was the truth. Regardless, it was very entertaining and lively conversation.

After no rain for 26 days .....it is raining!! I just check the gauge and we have received 1.2 inches of rain so far.

I told DH I would prepare a report for him this evening. Grabbing timer to help keep me focused until completion.

OKay, how wonderful to be getting rain finally!

Peach cobbler is almost done and flowers distributed. Such a large bunch of flowers today that I divided into several containers - tall heavy crystal vase for the largest arrangement with glads and zinnias, three identical "milk bottle" vases with zinnias and small sunflowers for the kitchen table, and cut stems of sunflowers from last week and put them in a smaller container on the mantel.

Dh has started the grill for the steaks, I need to clean the corn and get it started..

-shuck the corn and wrap it for the grill
-update worksheet of dsis $$ and reconcile to bank
-set the table
-reboot laundry
-give dMacs meds

CONGRATULATIONS ON THE NEW GRANDDAUGHTER, LYNLEE!!!

I finally got one, after 17 years of 7 grandsons! She's 6 months old now, was a 2-month preemie, and is doing awesome. Enjoy!

I got my story sent off this morning, so will start Nov. story ideas next. I'm doing snail mail now.

I stripped the sheets, washed, dried, and then made the bed fresh, without help, while DH was at the little store 1.5 miles away. He returned and said, "Boy! You work FAST!" His truck's not running right. This is after our bad luck with:
1- the pump capacitor being replaced
2- the shattered shower door being replaced
3- the clogged septic will be pumped on Thurs. the 18th
4- AND NOW- DH's truck's not running right! It's like oil's leaking onto the engine and nothing's coming out of the exhaust. He can't figure it out, so his DFriend, the car guy, will look at it, to tell DH what HE thinks is wrong.

A Dfriend of mine says, "When it rains- it pours!" How true!

I slept pretty deeply in spells totaling 3 hours. Dh checked and there was still some butternut squash soup so I told him, if I ate, I'd have that.

Ds called from the pizza place at 6:30 to say he was getting something and did we want anything? Dh had leftover pizza instead but we all ate together. I had the soup, some grapes and some crackers. I'm short protein for the day (my only protein has been from peanut butter, milk and grains) but am not hungry for anything else right now. I'll see later.

I've lost 9 lbs in the last 5 days. I'll tell the doctor when I call tomorrow for a follow up appointment. Apparently a malfunctioning pancreas can cause weight loss. I'm not eating much but would expect to only be losing 3lbs a week given what I'm eating right now, not 9.

I'm staying up another half hour, then taking more meds and heading to bed. My insides still hurt but they didn't hurt any more when I ate than when my tummy was empty so that is a good sign (if it was pancreatitis, I should have reacted almost instantly.) Fever and bp remain normal and since my bedroom is 80*, the fact that my fever is staying down is really good.

Hi everyone! My computer is backing itself up. It has been a very long while. I was very late for church today, almost decided not to go, but glad I did. I was up very late with a neighbor. We ended up calling the cops on some very suspicious activity. To make matters even more complicated, he is interested in either a friends with benefits or a romance type relationship with me and I am more interested in being friends. I just don't feel like getting into that mess again.

One or more cats threw up on my bed again, so LOLs running. I got tickets to a baseball game for DD11 and I with a church group. Last game we went to was a birthday event for a friend's son. She was in pain from a broken wrist that had not been casted yet. She ended up getting a ball and having Orbit (mascot for the Albuquerque Isotopes) to sign it, so it ended up being a happy event for her.

This afternoon, I have been doing database work nonstop! Unfortunately, I just realized I had neither breakfast nor lunch. Not very smart. I am stuck on the database stuff, so I am stopping for now. The fun thing is that my previous 'stuck spot' was solved within 5 minutes of starting! I am hoping the same will happen next time I work on it.

DD11 is coming home from Alabama late tonight. Girls' Night Out will resume its regular schedule Tuesday. Soon her cast will come off and our regular life will also resume!

Time for me to eat and flip laundry. G'night all!
