All those naps sound wonderful for a Sunday afternoon!

I like the sound of a fresh peach cobbler at Twins house. Lucylee, my DGM had one of those telephone tables with a seat. Nancy, those are good memories, I'm sure. I do know that song very well and remember when it first came out.

Congrats to Lynlee on the new grandchild. DS and DDIL have their first anniversary today. Hoping for some good news from them one of these days. I was noticing the cute little painted child-sized rocking chairs at the antique fair today.

DD26 arrived and we went out to a real restaurant tonight. We got back home and all three of us are online. She does not have internet yet at her new apartment, so she has a lot of catching up to do.

Grocery shopping is on my agenda for tomorrow. The cupboard is bare.

:D :D :D Congratulations on the new granddaughter, Lynlee!!! :D :D :D (Those are supposed to be shades of pink -- don't know how they will show up!

Back from a very nice dinner... albeit somewhat tense/chilly between dh & dbil...

Load of laundry in the washer... kitchen is clean... MUCH stuff to do tomorrow. Oh my goodness...
Found out today when I opened my new allergy shot refills, my allergy doctor is retiring! OH NO! He did not say who to go to, either, so I am going to have to call their office tomorrow and see what advice they can give me.
Also on the DPC list tomorrow --
* nursing home re: bill for dh's aunt...
* insurance company re: changes for dh & my insurance
* church secretary/bank re: business I have to take care of as secretary of the council
* and -- get this -- I am to give dmil a "wake up call" @ 8:30 b/c she doesn't usually get up that early and she needs to tomorrow b/c she is going to a funeral for a dfriend, one of her classmates

Also tomorrow... grocery day... keep dgs tomorrow night... who knows what else may come up?
Tomorrow is another day.

Lynlee, what a joyful time for you. A granddaughter!

Speaking of OMM "on my mind":
Many thoughts for me today about wise use of resources. In my mind and heart, the practical is colliding with the nostalgic, and the future colliding with the past, insofar as possessions go. I've started a master plan for transport/donation/purchase/discarding that includes both houses. The needs to be met are: 1) the family's need for closure, 2) dd33's need for further declutter of my parents' home so that she can start seeing it as her future home, and 3) dd14's need to go back into her old room and regain space enough for her teen-to-adult years. All of these could be chancy on an emotional level, but if I take the lead and handle them personally, I know I can smooth the way.

I've been doing some pondering at both houses today. I've had a little thinking help from menfolk - just enough to let me know I'd better handle most of this myself, very hands-on. These are generational, heritage steps we'll be taking. I will have to become picky. I already see a tendency to "help" by plunging ahead in shortcut ways that aren't good enough, and I don't want to have discord. So time to establish supervisor status.

Thank you all for your congratulations re dgd. Late last night I looked at a photo of dgd2 sitting with her daddy looking at awe at the new baby they were holding together. So beautiful was their meeting by all reports. Later on as more people flooded in at visiting hours dgd2 retreated into her shy self. She managed her first sleep over at other grandparents very well.

my sunday
woke early - still dark - after screens off before 10pm night before. a first since broken shoulder / injuries.
sent prayers for dd.
rang dm to tell her of pending birth. talked too long. missed call from dd.
dd left a great message with all the details :)
rang dm back with the news.
breakfast and caught bus to church. They run hourly on w/e and arrive just as service begins :)
dd's (deceased) bf from H school 's mother followed me in - to pew beside me. During the first hymn I shared the news and had a wonderful hug. {Anniversary of her DH and DD was in the last month. DD learner driver accident that was horribly wrong during a cloud burst. 13 years I think. (at 22 my dd had lost her two best friends from primary and HS. Other died of cancer 8 years earlier. ) I have fond memories of that girl as she often came to say hello after church. A caring person while I was having a bleak time in those years.}
Anyway - I know my prayers for dd and dgd were mixed with hers and sent with our blessings for their little family.
After the service a woman bade me sit with her in a pew and tell my story of injury.
After that I sat with an alone older woman with our cuppa - (mine was hot water) though I could not really hear for her speak for all the noise there.
Bus home.
Talked to someone walking dog . A contact from my guiding days.
home
msg from dd#1
rang her back and she had just left with her children to visit her new niece.
I rang all my family. DM had beaten me to it, but it was nice to talk with them all.
dd#1 rang. I have booked in friday to visit dd#2 and new grand baby. She will collect me from city and drive us there. I do hope I can see her renovations too.
rang dd#2 to ask if that was ok. :) yes. It will be an early start if I'm on train, to avoid the peak hour crush and fight for seats. A miracle would be a friend offer to drive me from here. Maybe the time with both my dds and 2 little dgds will be more precious. Perhaps that is a bigger miracle.

Last night I was up late.. late I took a basin bath. then an oiling of my limbs. Chose sweet almond oil (a carrier oil) from my days fighting guinea pig mites - already in bathroom - still. That was sorely needed.

tried a night without paracetamol. Not a good idea as I'd asked a lot of my injured arm yesterday. It had held a phone, helped to floss , and wash and oil my other arm. I took some about 3, then added food about 5. and finally slept a little.

Today is the occupational therapist. One bath seat would not work as tub floor too uneven/sloped. She will return with a bath bench seat for me to try soon. We also talked of what reno was needed to make actual shower recess watertight. We have talked fees etc. Direct debit or cheques are only no cost options. There's a co cost per visit. and I guess I need to buy the bath board if that will work. There goes the money I half thought was for a mobile phone for home help. I may need to wangle both. She was not sure if ....
...
later.
she has recommended domestic and laundry help. She is not sure if there are any "spaces" available. I may need to apply to another agency. Household help is floors and bathroom only. I need go buy the bath board - It will work well with my setup. I will need a friend to help. If its wooden - I cannot be carting that about. May be plastic.
There is not really help with getting organised. Though maybe that will happen by degrees. Or maybe with a different agency would be mindful of that.. She really just wanted to ensure good access and I have already attended to that. Heck - getting floors tended will be an improvement.
There is to be a grab rail in the bathroom too. Long - so it will be by basin as well as over end of tub.
PT possibilities after fracture clinic in 2 weeks. I'll see what I'm up to then. Sideways arm extension is about 3 " atm.
I need to be positive about my hands recent cooperation with bathing and teeth last night, and helping w pot scraper to get rest of food out of a pot. Holding the pot handle with my chin to use my right hand wasn't the easiest before then.

Harmony - hugs to you
Harriet - time for care and love in your family home. And outings - the 3 of you together. And to go into your craft studio and just sit and breathe.
Lucylee - you are doing great - really. It is up to you and dh what hours you want to keep.
At one time I go rid of morning commitments and let my sleep times go a bit feral. Well - a bit teenage in bed til 10 - or 12noon actually. Later I decided I want to be able to be out by 9 or so so am trying again with the midnight lights off - or I was until I fell. I will need to want to get back to that, and then to try for consistancy. In truth - often the tv is my light to be switched off when I am finally arranged with covers just so. ;) I do have a torch / lantern I could use.

later still - I have begged a lift to go buy the bath board. I hope friend won't mind me looking at OOOO size garments now I know what is needed. I may need a trip to coast stores to get what I want.
Just begin.
Living this day, today
Take a reality check; Remember to breathe; Do what I am able to do.
Look for the good in all.
