Tuesday - second half of July

-pedicure this morning, that I haven't messed up yet
-wrote note and mailed to dd at camp and dropped at post office
-phone call Invisible fence guy - we need new batteries for ddogs collars
-left phone message for sleep apnea doc
-lunch w former coworker
-was going to talk to boss and let him know I won't be coming back to work, but he was out for lunch
-dropped off a desk at Goodwill
-visited dmom, issues with meds not taken and also not checking her blood sugar, refilled meds
-at temple, prepped for meeting tonight
-little old lady who was there for a meeting gave me some info I needed, so I don't have to call and meet her there another day
-long meeting at temple

I still need to walk the dogs.

Oh, Dee, what a sad day for your community. I'm so sorry.

Glad to hear Mr. DeeClutter has some symptoms that are evening out. Surely he just needs some cooler weather and a little more time to pass.

Hopeful Kathryn continues with more pain-free times.

Cathy, you always stay so on top of your household chores. I was surprised to hear how many loads of laundry you planned, but I think you do those all at one time anyway. I am still a one-a-day gal.

Oh, Nancy is about to start some sewing! Very cool.

We are getting tomatoes from both types of plants. So far the planted Big Boys, which were a modest gift, are beating the veggie-pants off of the container-ed Super Tasties, which cost me plenty. Will probably never do containers for a tomato again, no matter how small the plant. (Super Tasty is a bush tomato, short height.)

Drove the car for the first time since June 2nd or 3rd. (Got sick, then let dh drive while I was recovering from surgery, then got sick again, and finally was off narcotics for 24 hours.)

Drove myself to lunch and then into the next village to visit my senior friend and pick up some fruit and veggies.

I have a long drive tomorrow and will have dh do it for me because I don't want to risk being stuck with an attack, especially way out in the country. Have another one to do next week as well in the evening but I'll see how I'm doing by then.

Dh took me for a walk but the bugs were really bad. Will only manage 4200 steps today despite the grocery store. It is so hot, I'm only walking as much as I need to.

Still pain free enough that I'm just using advil.

Ds called to say he has to fill in for a sick person so he's working 3 p.m. to 7 a.m. and then back to work at 3 p.m. tomorrow. He'll be exhausted. At least his bedroom is cool (cold) because he's in the basement. It is below 70. Our bedroom will be 78 overnight (it is over 80 now.) Outside it got to 106 with the humidity, 96 just heat alone. We usually get 2 - 3 days in the 90's each day but we are up for 5 in a row and three of those will be over 100 with the humidity. I've had the a/c running 24/7 since we got home on Sunday.

Just got home from a visit to my dad. He has a procedure on Thursday so I will go back up there then. He thinks he is being allowed out on Friday. (I don't know for sure.)

I can't seem to get into the habit of doing one load a day unless the towels are really piling up. Although today I did another very small load for my dad, which is why I went up tonight.

I'm a one load a day gal too (with exception of curtains, sheets, rugs, etc). At the end of the day we remove our clothes and put them all into the washing machine. Last person to take a bath, closes the lid on the washer and it starts. When I get up in the morning, I put the wet clothes into the dryer. By the time the breakfast happens, the clothes are dried and ready to be put away. I resisted for the first 35 years of our marriage washing all colors/material of clothes together without sorting them. Now I'm a convert. I like being completely caught up on washing clothes every day.

(((Dee))) that is so sad. The hurt and grief your community is going through is overwhelmingly sad.

This afternoon we went to LO library session. It was about worms.

Then LO and I took a 3 hour nap together. Wonderful!

Kathryn, I am sure that your senior friend was glad to see you again.

CathyS, I hope your ddads procedure goes well. At least the dr. or one of your siblings can break the news that he will be hospitalized longer, if that is the case.

Dee, reading about the accident and loss of life, just made me sick. I can see why you are so careful at that area.

Tomorrow I need to mow. Then I need to clean. I have killed 3 spiders in 2 days and had already killed 3 at an earlier time. My dh is worse than I am about spiders, so I haven't shared this info with him. Once the house is clean, I will call the bug guy and see how soon he can spray. I will also need to vacuum all the dead bugs out of the double garage and hose down the tiled covered entry before he comes. Whatever is in the spray kills flies, especially the bigger ones. Every day or two, I have to use my battery operated blower and blow them away from the entry. I am anal about flies in the house, so this spraying really helps.

Well guess I better take my bs and see if I can get by without a snack before bed.

We gather laundry and wait on loads to be large enough, using baskets in my master closet under the hanging clothes. We rotate through the loads, doing the one that is "up next" or switching when there's a need.

I can't decide if it's best to repaint my ddad's bedroom for transitioning to dd again. Having a hard time deciding on a color, for instance. Maybe I'm just not ready for decisions. Ds says he'll help me if I do. He's still young enough to think painting's not such a hard chore.

As long as the phone is ringing as much as it is, I'll never be able to settle and make decisions well.

Sorry, skipable rant -
Also, I had a "moment" at today's graveside service for the other neighborhood gentleman, when my ddad's nephew D's wife started laughingly talking about my ddad's conversation to her once a couple years ago, in which he obviously showed confusion. Although I handled it in a civil manner, I made it clear we were agreeing to disagree. She never so much as showed up at my parent's door to say hello for the last 10 or 15 years, and neither did a single person in her family, although they live close. Yet she brings up to others the one time she saw my dad elsewhere and he said something that didn't make sense, as if that defined him, or defined some relationship she supposedly had with him? No. To tell her story correctly, she would have said, "I neglected our elderly relatives for so long, I have no idea what they were like, or whether there were any needs my household could have met."

Sorry, skipable mischief -
You know, I might talk incessantly to every member of my ddad's family who calls, or who I run into somewhere, about ddad's wonderful, marvelous nephew R, who came to visit with him and take an interest, and paid attention even when it took a while to get the stories straight. Perhaps R has now become a paragon of virtue. Perhaps no one should ever hear the end of his admirable qualities. (Don't worry, I'll get over this by tomorrow and feel kindly toward everyone equally again. But the thought comforts me at the moment! ) Oh, I DO bear watching... ...
