Saturday - take care of everyday things

BUMMER!! We had planned to go into Saskatchewan for a few days to visit a fellow RV Blogger. But on the list of things we can't bring into Canada was wood with bark on it.

We carve bark - we have finished pieces, unfinished pieces and uncarved pieces with us. I can't take a chance on losing all those hours of work. I've invited her to our house in AZ next winter instead.

OKay, wow, I didn't know that movie was from a book, and I didn't know about the sequel. Thanks! Now that's on my list too.

Dee, I got confused reading your bit about the fire, it read (to me) like DH was also at that fire - but surely not!

Ivy, yes, I'm curious about the shampoo too! I just use cheap ones here and DGKids don't care what kinds of soaps are here, they're still in the "ok it's only been 3 days why do I have to shower and change my clothes" stage except for oldest DGSon. DDs bring their own shampoo, pricey ones because of their hair coloring. Boy, I understand the food thing. Grandkids are like vacuums, grazing on whatever food is around!

We don't get Hallmark channel. Would be an upgrade to our satellite. Maybe they'll replay some of it and we'll see when we get the channel free some months. Crossing my fingers.

BWTG Kathryn on the gardening. You should see our yard. Grass is about 2' tall - yes I said 2' - with spikes of grass seeds growing. DH is reseeding our yard the free way, waiting right now for the seed to mature. It thickens up the yard. He goes around once a week at least and weeds, anyway.

We're calling us Big Green House on the Little Prairie!

Did a little bookkeeping and noticed I had no spreadsheet started for our house rental account, so I did that. Trip to the bank this morning too. Lots of our banks are open Sat. mornings and I've noticed the new trend is for even their lobbies to be open too.

Trying to take care of everyday things today. Did get the kitchen cleaned up. Need to put away some laundry and some general cleaning until I run out of steam. I was tired this morning but slept in an extra hour and had a nap yesterday, and I feel more mentally positive today. Grateful for every little babystep forward with my health.

Belated congratulations to Mr & Mrs Okay. I apologise or not doing so yesterday.

I'm so sorry to hear that the little girl has passed on too...I feel so sorry for that mother, Dee.

Some good news on my part. After visiting the bank today, I was informed that my home loan has been approved in principle. We will have actual confirmation in 2 or 3 working days. I was also informed that we qualify for an astronomical amount (at least to me) of 3.9million rand for a home loan (shocked face here). That is way way way too much to repay over 20 years.

So now we just play the waiting game for a few more days.

Dd called upset so we all chatted with her over skype.

Ds started to head out a couple of hours before his shift and I said I needed 5 minutes from him to clean up his half of the garage. It took 7.5 minutes but is done and he can get his car in now (good either when it is rainy or to keep it cooler when it is insanely hot.)

I put our bikes back in the shed. Dh is a bit peeved about that but they are almost as easy to get there as the garage and ds's car doesn't fit with the bikes in (and all the other stuff.)

I swept out the garage and moved things on the side that has been holding moisture. Hopefully with a hot, dry, day, it will dry up a bit more. The garden along the back of the garage seems to be seeping moisture through the foundation into the garage so we may have to reroute the downspout again.

I still haven't had lunch so am doing that now.

Lisa - Congratulations on getting your home loan approved. That's one big step handled. I hope you don't mind, but I had to convert your South African rand into U.S. dollars because I didn't understand what amount 3.9 million rand was! It is $394,000 U.S. dollars, which makes sense for me now. I learn something new everyday on this site.
I did understand your reference to Dutch names in South Africa because my minister is of Dutch descent from Johannesburg, South Africa. No one in the U.S. can pronounce his name correctly- it is spelled Viljoen - and pronounced Full-Yoon. He has told us about the long history of the Dutch settlers in S.A. - dating back to 1652, when the Dutch East India Company decided to establish a permanent settlement in S.A. I love learning about the history of other cultures.

We are back from the farmer's mkt. learned they open one hr. earlier than I thought so I'm happy b/c we can get done sooner before the heat hopefully. Found eggs fresh farm eggs will try to use some of those to fill some of the order for the guy at work, I told h. after this to check with me first. It was for four doz. now I learn not three. Also got some rolls for the freezer and cookies for our lunch.

We enjoyed breakfast out and the did the groc. shopping, put away food.
Got home in time for my gardening shows, then I used the new shrub rake to clean out the chicken run had to attach the leaf part first don't know why they did not do that before ~sigh~ any way I was please that I could do it myself with out asking h. to do it.

Sitting in our beautiful campground planning our travels now that the Canadian trip is out. Think we are going to head back east and do a couple of lakes in ND and then in SD following the Missouri River from here to there.

Then we can decided if we want to go back thru the Black Hills or head south on our favorite US 81 south toward NM and home.

Now to check out some of the campgrounds online and see what facilities they have.

Still on baby duty here... and lots of other concerns popping up (noted in J&C)... dmil has called three times... talked to daunt on the phone for almost an hour... (not all bad news, we chatted and LOL about a lot of things, along w/discussing the elephant in the room a bit, also)... I finally s2s -- but no make up yet...

LOTS of "everyday things" need taking care of here, that's for certain.

We 3 went to HRH's ddad's house (he's home from rehab). Lots of family there building a wheelchair ramp. HRH is contributing, but not with carpenter-power. Everyone's leaving that to his sister's husband who does this sort of carpentry. In all, 3 of their children visiting there with 3 spouses, a dog and 4 children between us. Very busy! Dd14 bonded quite a bit with her newest cousin who just turned 4.

That was about as social as I need to be, though. Feeling it.

We stopped by the grocery on the way home.

I've been down about mistakes made in the article about my ddad. An inaccurate quote from me makes it sound like I'm saying my ddad was this big success very young, and the whole community knows that isn't so. I knew this could happen - I should have insisted that I be allowed to see it before they used it.

Next up I want to wash our master linens. Will wash my hair tonight and put it up in a scrunchie, possibly will make it to church tomorrow.

Dh and I went out for dinner since he didn't want to cook and neither did I. We went to the 'chicken coop' (Swiss Chalet, a family rotisserie chicken chain) and I had a nice salad with chicken breast. Was able to save half the chicken for tomorrow's lunch.

Dfs and his wife are coming for dinner on Monday so I'll make ribs for dh tomorrow (it was Monday's meal). Ds invited his foster brother and then let me know in case dh and I wanted to join them. Since it will be in my house, with my food, at my table, I guess we will!

After supper dh and I picked up some groceries so that errand is done.

Next up, to have some fruit for dessert. Then, maybe bed, although 8 seems a bit early for bed. I'm exhausted!
