I worked very hard yesterday so today I'm going to survey my progress and plot the path to finishing cleaning my house.

What surveying do you have to do?

Don't quote me on this (because I don't want to jinx it) but I feel like I'm 'back.'

Yesterday was really productive. There's still about 2 hours of housework left for the main floor (and I have to vacuum basement stairs and dust down there) but the rest of the house has been done and looks better. I've been wondering around, surveying my accomplishment.

I'm to the point now of starting to 'see' zone work that needs to be done and getting to that. I've untied all the cushions from the kitchen chairs and will wash those today, along with dh's sunning and exercise towels. That's a relatively quiet chore.

I'm up early because I wanted to beat ds getting home so I could make his bed. And give him a hug 'goodnight.' He'll be out of here by 2:30 and I'll start the housework then.

Until he leaves, I'll work on tidying and paperwork (they are related - if I get the paperwork out of the way, the main floor will be tidier.) First challenge: finish tomorrow's services.

It was a typical sunny, last month of winter day here today. Bus driver told me the temperature was 26C /78.8F outside. I could believe that as I'd waited in the sun for about 40 min. I went to the pool for my 35 min exercise then dropped my pool things and picked up my shopping cart and took the hour trip to the coast. Special's day at the health food store so I got a big bag of supplies. Looked around a discount store and was challenged on the way out as they sold shopping carts like mine. Finally he let me go. I promised not to be back if I need to use my shopping cart. gee. I'm guessing they have video of door anyway.
I looked at down / feather doonas but let that idea go. too heavy, or not box sewn for the lighter one.

Ivy - The climate / seasons are not as you know them. Snow is in limited areas. Mostly in the alps. About 1/3 of the country - the part with the least people - is tropical. Winter Nights are typically cold - to our senses.

Lynlee, I nodded at this quote from you last night. "Sorting it out oneself while doing what one can seems to be a theme I encounter a lot lately."

I was referring to my injuries and recovery. the common thread is to push it a bit anyway, but if it really hurts to back off and give it a rest. I can see greater movement at least in the pool. I'm sure it will translate to on land in time.
I did swap insurers - to the one I have car ins with. I get a discount for that and my time as a auto club member.

Good Morning!

I'm surveying my SHE cards this morning. I'm thankful they have almost every routine task mapped out. They give me peace in knowing the path is cleanly marked. I just need to get started and enjoy the journey.

After the FNG left last night, I took a few minutes to go over August calendar events with DH. The summer lull is coming to an end. The next 2 weeks are busy with only 1 day free. Everything past the next 2 weeks is in big limbo land of things-we-don't-know. It is hard to make plans past that point.

Surveying today. By the end of the day, I would like to have accomplished
** freezer to be defrosted and inventoried
** drum practice
** 3 meals served
** yard mowed
** LO school clothes/boots shopping
** MPB care
** 100 SHE cards completed

Been up since little before 7 -have tested, had meds & breakfast. That's as far as I've gotten. Was up for over an hour last night. Dh came & tried sleeping in the bed from that point on (around 3).

Glad my new windows calendar shows the day on the desktop -dh and I had both forgotten we have a special b'day party this afternoon (at least I think it's in the afternoon & not evening). Dh forgot to ask a time and we've not seen this person since. We'll probably just go for an hour or so. Have to love this calendar system. At least I won't completely forget something. Usually I check a day or 2 ahead.

Had a small b'day party for gd15 yesterday. She actually came over & gave dh & me each a quick hug. That's an improvement. Tomorrow we have a sizeable graduation party for dgd18. (DShelley's dd). Her father took her car away because her room wasn't cleaned -which meant someone from here had to go get her last night. May have been deserved, but chances are -not. At least dgd is very busy baby sitting and earning money toward college. She's so good with children and is going in studying to be a pediatric nurse. Sure dgs20's problems with cancer & juvenile diabetes since birth have played a great part in her life decisions.

Better get s2s and moving on with my day.

That's pretty much what I need to do, Kathryn. I've kept up with the 'have to's" over the summer but that's about it. I really need to do some deep cleaning.

Yay! Kathryn is back!!

You must be very proud of dgd, Dee!! I think kids are often steered toward careers by what they encounter in their lives. I've heard nursing is a great field to go into. There used to be a shortage, but I don't know if that is true anymore. My dfriend B is an OR nurse and loves it! --But she loves that her patients are unconscious, so a little different.

Dd17 is thinking about becoming a child psychologist and helping underprivileged children, perhaps with art therapy, and this is b/c of (1) her own psychological struggles and experiences dealing with them and (2) her exposure to underprivileged children in Detroit through our church youth group.

It is almost 10 a.m. I have gone for a jog with dh, taken Maia out to the po*p pen to do her thing, had an argument with dh, checked emails, responded to one, trying to set up a meeting this coming week.

Surveying. . . hmm.... I think I need to make a plan for next week to make sure I don't get overwhelmed next weekend: Saturday afternoon (8/10) - baby shower for S and R (dfriend B is hosting but I seem to be doing everything else - invitations, food, activities). Sunday the 11th, we're having our Sr. pastor and family over for lunch after church. Monday, I'm doing the uniform fittings for the bands. Tuesday, an out-of-town friend is arriving to stay with us for a couple days. . .

Surveying for today: There are some odds and ends I need to finish up today, some phone calls, some more meetings to set up, that pesky online application. Maybe even some housework and yardwork. Maybe dh and I could even do a little more shopping for an ottoman, or a pouf as dh says - and as I think they're referred to in the HP books too. There's an IKEA store not too far from here.

Dd17 got called to her babysitting job at 12:30 last night, so the new baby is on its way! Or maybe here by now. She says that the dad will be home at noon to take over. Dd15 slept over at a friend's house so she will need to be picked up at some point.

Weather is gorgeous today! August in Michigan is very fine. It is clear, sunny, not too hot.

I'm off to get some things done so I can post accomplishments later.

DGD18 plans to do her 'minor' in psychology too, Helia. Just praying for her to stick with it.

I've accomplished quite a bit this morning. The b'day party and commendation presentation we were to go to this afternoon has been cancelled. Can we say that the dwife is thoroughly peode! (SP?) He, for the whom the surprise party was to be, absolutely has to work. He's the county fire inspector and the only one who has accreditation for the job at hand. She is literally not a "happy camper". Guess she called dcampowner last night to cancel the pavilion.

Have decided to make the bathroom my focus this week. Keep looking at the same things (that direly need doing) on a daily basis. Part of my surveying today was to realize I need to start making the rooms (though they may be small) a weekly focus -different each week!

Half expecting dh's db/dsil to come up from FL within the next 4 weeks. There are things I dearly want to have done before then. DD and GD15 will be leaving for FL next Friday. Then we'll be 'sitting' for dgs8 during most week days until Labor Day. However, that's only 3 weeks. But then our time here will be nearly over. Going so fast, but OTOH it seems like forever since dh's heart surgery.

Found a stained glass suncatcher yesterday when I was in town. Screamed "Shelley" at me. The background is purple (her favorite color) and a beautiful butterfly on it. Now have to get a suction cup so I can hang it on our window.

Yay! Day 1 of Bathroom Focus -DONE! There was quite a bit of maneuvering to complete the lower part of the bathroom closet. Another day I'll zero in on the 2 shelves in that closet. Neither one is an easy task, but badly in need of doing.

Going to 'goof off' for a little bit. Dh is out and about -good for him. So often he doesn't even feel like doing that. Have a feeling that once he starts feeling halfway 'good', the healing process may move along a little more swiftly.

I've finally s2s and started the laundry. Each of the cushions had to be hand scrubbed first to get off stains. I'm assuming I scotch-guarded them at some point because the stains seemed to come right off.

Next challenge is to do my sermon edits and write the prayers. Once that is finished, I'll print off and take it upstairs and give myself a mani/pedi. I'll be able to practice my sermon while letting things dry. Look, I'm back to multi-tasking!
