Silly Sunday

Post by Kathryn-in-Canada »

CathyS inspired this one with her post last night!

Let's have a fun day and a bit of silliness can help levitate the mood.

Sunday's don't have to be solemn and soulful.

Hmmmm, leading two church services. There will be a bit of silliness in the first (I'm delivering the sermon in an evening gown which will definitely strike some as silly) but the second will be more ordinary.

In between, we are meeting our church musician for lunch and that will have lots of laughter. Dh is covering for her at our church and she's playing at the church I preached in last summer. She also played there on Christmas Eve for their midnight service, after playing at 2 services for our congregations (and then played Christmas morning at the church next to her house which she rents from that church.) That girl never takes a break!

I'm all dressed now. Formal underwear on under my travel black dress. Hopefully I'll be able to manage the quick change. I have 4 - 5 minutes to go from the pulpit to the washroom, change, and return to the pulpit.

So glad to see that you're wearing "formal" underwear beneath your "formal" gown! I will try my level best to create some 'silliness' here. Right now I don't feel too 'silly'. Chose not to go to church this morning. Finally admitted that I feel less than silly this morning. Took some acetaminophen so will see if that helps me feel better. Should have known when I sneezed non-stop after going to bed last night.

Dh would like to drive to a couple of towns away to watch 2 dgs (8 & 13) race go-karts later if I feel better.

Was thinking dh had 3 appointments this week -but actually it's 4. (Rehab - nurse -rehab - opthamologist). Dd had sort of decided on leaving on Friday instead of Saturday since both Ds's families will be in Pittsburgh for the weekend. She was leaving later in the day until I remembered to tell her even we'd be gone before 9am for dh's appointment. DD has decided to change her itinerary and go through Pittsburgh (Wampum) so she can stop for a few hours and go to the WKA race track where everyone else will be. DGS13 who used to be in the top in the US in WKA racing is now considering going back to that and is taking a whack at it again. (He was hurt pretty badly in 2 different Nationals a few years back and got out of it. ) Of course Grandma can barely stand to watch anyway. But this could be good for both DS's and for DGS8.

We're slowly moving today -dh just said it was time for him to dress and promptly laid back in the recliner & covered up. (The heater is going this morning btw!)

Silliest thing so far at our house is that I'm up before Mike.

I'm extremely cold this morning. Air conditioning is off and has been since "3:30" according to Mike who turned it off because he was cold. He's never cold.

Other silliness involves me needing to do work paperwork. I thought it was die last Monday morning at 6 a.m. so I stayed up until midnight last Sunday to have it done. At least it's half done, so I hopefully won't be up until midnight tonight. I avoid this paperwork more than dreaded phone calls and I will do anything else around here to avoid this paperwork.

I also have laundry to do today including sheets. Which brings me full circle. Mike is still sleeping on the sheets so I can't do laundry.

I will avoid laundry and paperwork by playing on the computer. Silly me.

Good Morning!

I've been up for several hours and leisurely doing cards while babysitting software being downloaded onto laptop

Kathryn - BWTG on giving such a visual aid with sermon. When our preacher does that, it always sticks with me. I remember one sermon he put on a long heavy log chain and dragged it around behind him through out the first part of his message.

Breakfast has been cooked/served (biscuits, jelly, eggs topped with cheese).

Next up - finish getting ready and out the door to church

I've been sitting here searching on the computer for some info that I can't find. I know I saved some directions and now can't find where I might have done that. hrmph!!

Time I start (gingerly) getting dressed. Then maybe I'll do up the few dishes I have. It's day 2 for bathroom focus for me. So think it will be to clean the shower. (Have extra clothing hung in there -all dh's- and our 2 clothes hampers & dh's shower basket). Need to wash it out as well. I'm sure I can eliminate some of dh's hung clothing.

Off to s2s and the rest of it. At least weighing, testing, meds and breakfast are done. Dh and I found a really nice bakery outlet in a new(ish) strip on our way home from cardiac rehab. (It's right next to our financial advisor company). Bought some cinnamon/raisin bread that we just love and it was fairly inexpensive. so will stop tomorrow and pick up a couple more loaves to put in our freezer. In our quest to downsize any salt I also picked up a jar of lemon-pepper. We absolutely love it on cukes and other things. I'm opting to use it in place of 'sprinkle' cheese on dishes like goulash. Next up will be to try it on corn-on-the-cob. Jury remains out until then.

We all went to bed at 10:30 p.m. last night. Usually it is 11:20 p.m. - 11:30 p.m. But the guys (DH, 2 grsons) had to leave early for Seaside, OR this morning. I awoke at 6:40 a.m. w/o the dawn simulator and before DH's alarm. We got showers, coffee, everybody ate breakfast, and the guys left at 7:55 a.m.

Now, I'm awaiting DD and dgrson-nearly 17 now. I have no clue if she'll be here by noon or not. She's bringing down puzzle books and books for me, some are mine being returned and some are hers. I have places picked out for them, too.

I'll be doing snail mail, reading, and crochet while they're gone, will try to get in a walk, too.

It'll be 83* and it's sunny here. It's a nice day so far.

Another busy day here, dd now wants us to pick her up late this afternoon. Before dd texted last night, we had invited a visiting young man out for lunch today. Will pick him up at 12:30 and immediately following that we'll head off on the road trip to camp.

I need to s2s. Yesterday I went to temple, home for a nap, dMacs to PT, then back to temple and out for a light supper with friends, got home 10:30ish. Might have stayed out even later but ds' friend Z was here to say goodbye to us before heading back to DC. He's been ds' life long friend - starting when they were about a year old with some gaps along the way. We really think of him as another son - dh has talked to him a lot along the way about Z's issues with his parents' divorce.

Ddogs walked, on to the shower.

ooops, this sat here through my shower....
