Re: Scanning woes. I've read that some people take picture of the document instead of scanning. I tried it a couple years ago, but decided to stay with scanning because of OCR option.

I'm sitting here doing nothing on purpose. :D Just sitting in recliner looking out the window. Very pleasant and relaxing

OKay I was just about to remind people they can take a photo of the document and email that. It really depends on what the info is being used for. For the bill Dee was trying to send, that would work fine. If you are scanning documents for financial institutions, that may not be acceptable.

Back from church. Sermon is about 1/3 done. I'm stalled at this point, will hopefully find inspiration soon.

The supply minister is very low energy which concerns me but she is engaged and was very appreciative of my taking the time to answer all her questions. She went over the position description and was OK with it.

I'm home now. Two more things are off my kitchen table (they belonged at my church and so I dropped them off when I took the minister on the tour of the churches.)

I've made one more cobbler plum this time gave the berries to the chickens b/c we do not like the seeds that much and they appreciate some thing frozen in this heat.

H. is on his way home and on call for the next hr. or so.
He is picking up some chicken feed for me as it's next door to where he works so that's easy.

Dgd is doing a puzzle time for me to check laundry again.
I've been doing some mending, hems and such.
Spiffed the traffic areas of the floor seemed to be good enough.

The handle broke on my larger crock pot so I'm looking in to a new one I want one with the clip on lid and four legs.

That was going to be my next try, Kathryn. That is I was going to until I discovered my printer wasn't even plugged in to my laptop :o Think it worked. Didn't hear anything back from dd so hope so, but will do that with phone if it didn't.

Dh is feeling like c r a p this afternoon again. But, as I said to him, if you can get even an hour feeling somewhat 'chipper', that's better than 24 hours of feeling like C. Know he's more than ready to start feeling better. We'll see how the doubling of the Lasix works. Dr. wants him back in 2 weeks (or sooner if he's not getting any better in a few days).

Still have dgs8. DS-R called about 3 and said he was going to be late -had to work until 4:30/5:00.

I'm making goulash for supper -hoping it'll tempt dh a little bit. (No added salt). Made up a big batch of 3-bean (actually 4 beans) salad. He said the other day that it tastes the best to him of anything in 3 months.

May take dh for a drive around the ponds later -but fairly early as it's been getting too cool.
Begun is half done -SO! JUST BEGIN!!

Hi everyone! I am back. I never intended to go away, but for some reason, I cannot access this site from home. It gives a 'site not responding' error. Phooey! I took a week off and had DD11, so I could not check in. I survived the week and we had a good time. She is walking better, but still limps some. The maids came and went yesterday, so no more hurricane house. I am going to have to break down and buy another bookcase; XDH brought another box of my stuff over and the bookcases I have are already overflowing. The only place left to put it is the kitchen. Progress has been made on my database work. Progress has not been made on child support calculations.

Some good news: dFosterCat11 (Iris) has been adopted. She never showed well and the kittens got all the attention at the adoption clinics. One family came in and said "No one is paying any attention to this one, she will never get adopted!" and promptly filled out an application for her. The app was approved and she is now with her new family. Not so good news: dFosterKitten Levity is sick and needs liquid meds 2x per day. I am not having fun with that and neither is he! He has to take it for 10 days. Also, I have several extra LOLs because dFosterCat13 had another hairball.

This weekend, I am in desperate need of a cat food purchase and a yard weeding. I do not have DD this weekend, so I will do it Sunday. Art class is tonight. I am reading stuff and making notes at payroll.

I have had the l-a-z-i-e-s-t day here! I left the house only to get bills to the postal place near our house. My a.m. routine isn't even completely done. I even slept a little this afternoon. I think I really needed a day to do nothing! I feel kind of guilty though. . . . When does relaxing become laziness? Maybe that depends on perceptions. Dh can never take a day like this. I also snacked way too much this afternoon. . . and I didn't go jog after all. I think I'll try to go tomorrow a.m.

Your dgd likes puzzles a lot, nancy! A couple of my kids really liked jigsaw puzzles as tots.

Nice to see you Elizabeth! Glad that Iris got adopted.

So, now I'm going to finish the a.m. routine, start lol, and start cooking dinner. Only one friend is coming for dinner

Hi! I saw a quote on our fire station's reader board today, to share with you! :D

"WE MAKE OUR CHOICES-
OUR CHOICES MAKE US."

It didn't say who wrote the quote, but I thought this was such a good one, especially for tweens and teens, young people going to college, young adults, etc.... It's so true how our choices make us!

Back from errands.

I had a fun meeting with the sewing group treasurer. I really enjoy visiting with her. We don't have a lot in common, but we always have a good time together.

The fabric store shopping was a bust. The coupon said 25% off garment fabric. The store has mostly quilting cottons but they are expanding their selection of other types of fabrics. I picked out a pretty cotton batik that I wanted to use for either a summer jacket or some lounging pants.

Unfortunately, they would not let me use the coupon for the fabric I chose. :( Luckily I asked before it was cut! They said the cotton batik was not a "garment" fabric, and I'd have to choose a rayon batik. Well, the rayon batiks are less than 40 inches wide but still more expensive per yard of length, cannot be dried in a dryer, and they didn't have a color I really liked.

I don't even need any fabric. I just wanted to thank them for letting us have a meeting there last week, plus support an independent fabric store. However, when they give a coupon that is so restrictive that it cannot be used -- for a fabric that they have marked $13.99 per yard plus tax, and I wanted 2.5 yards! -- nope, sorry.

Oh well, I don't know when I would have had time to start another project anyway. As mentioned before, I already have plenty of patterns in various states of completion. Plus 2 bins of fabric for projects not even started yet.

Hi, Dove ~ Good for you for sharing that coupon and helping that guy.

Dove, the more correct term is "petal dust" I believe, an edible powder or a palette of caked powder squares. We're using a palette to get lots of looks. A very nice product and enjoyable. We're "dusting" fondant pieces for cupcake decorations.

I got the rest of the flower centers ready and dd and I sat together with our paintbrushes and dusted the color onto the final 30 flowers. With corn syrup, I "glued" on the centers and we've set all to the side to harden further and wait for eventual cupcakes to go under them.

2nd load of laundry finished through to drip-dry.

HRH was sweet to bring home take-out, which let us keep working straight through.

Dd has gotten 2 very nice phone calls from an old friend who had started attending a different school, and a friend from her guitar class. I think that's so sweet that these girls make notes of each other's birthdates.

English Daisies - Dove, I'm sorry you've had a bad season with those. Do you think weather affected them? Our unusual summer has caused a lot of poor growth/blooming.

BookSaver, I've had that odd experience of not knowing which a store was considering "garment" fabrics, too. Well, still, you were their customer today, showing the community that they are busy and interesting.

Reminded by Ivy's wise quote of the uplifting speech given at Teen Choice Awards Tuesday night by Ash ton Kutch er. Not always my choice for a role-model, but he certainly won hearts that night.

Hi, Elizabeth! Oh, I hope Levity's days improve soon (and your caregiving moments!)

I think I probably got home about an hour ago from taking dd to K-town. After all the discussion about what time to leave (and deciding not to leave until 3 p.m.) she came back wanting to leave at noon, so we took off. I helped her unload and get stuff to her room but then took off. (Maybe I'm a bad mom, but after the first year, I consider them on their own as far as packing and unpacking.)

I did take a "scenic" route back home - visited a historical site quickly, then took an old route - not the interstate - back home. This route follows the path that a lot of my ancestors when settling in this area and I always like to think about the research I've done over the years as I follow the route. One of my ancestors was a Union sympathizer during the Civil War - this is in the south - and according to some documents filed after the war he "hid out" along a certain river to avoid being drafted. During that time, one of his children died and he couldn't go home for the funeral. So when I go to K-town, and today, going another road, I pass over this river. :)

Tomorrow I need to get the oil changed in my car, get groceries, massage at 1 and pick up dd at 3:45. I'd like to make challah in the a.m. also.

Time to take ddogs out. I skipped "Thirsty Thursday" at the community pool - was just getting underway when I drove in but I am/was too tired for a lot of socializing.

Yes, glad to see Elizabeth back!
