Remembering Indiana 8/21/12

Many thanks to MT for our opening today in memory of Indiana. She was a very special person and I miss her too! I remember the evenings both she and Hugh passed, but mostly I remember the wonderful advice she gave! It's nice to go back and read her posts.

Elle I like fall decor too. We don't see as much of seasonal autumn here in FL as most of the US does, but I love the fall colors and change the tablecloth and potholders, too.

OKay, I'm glad that LO is adjusting better now. Maybe sometime in the future, when all your dgkids are older, would be a better time to think about leisure time on a boat!

Kathryn, I'm glad you had a good report from your dr.

I wasn't sure what I wanted to do today either, but after a.m. routine I decided some focus work would be good, so I got our little entry area cleaned and organized the bookshelves again. Tomorrow I will start on my next Project, which is bathroom cabinets - should be quick and easy!

Dh wanted Wendy's for supper tonight; frosty and bacon cheeseburger for me and a chicken wrap for him. He just left and will be back in a few minutes - it's less than 1/2 mile away, so I'll set the table while he's gone. And feed our dfurbabies who just reminded me that it is their dinnertime!

The sky got really dark in the last 5 minutes and now I'm hearing thunder! Bye.......

I miss Indiana so much! She was always so plain-spoken and would tell me what I needed to hear so many times. Such an inspiration w/her organization habits and her positive attitude, too. I also look back at old posts many times.

Today was kinda rushed b/c I had to get to the post office before they closed @ 12:30, but all's well that ends well... dh's football ticket order arrived, everything's good... except that dh feels TERRIBLE. He thinks he has some kind of virus... and we have a long drive ahead of us tomorrow. * sigh *

I certainly hope he feels better by the time we leave.

I've taken care of dmom, about to go with him to dmil's, then he has a church meeting, and I guess we're free for the rest of the night.
Clothes are ready to pack.

I have finally finished and submitted the behemoth! It will eventually feel good to have that done, but right now, I'm just tired of thinking about how great I am. . . .

Now, I'm going to take a very quick shower as I'm coated in sunscreen and lake water - and change my clothes. R has informed us that we need to dress up for our evening activities. He is wearing a suit and tie. He likes to dress up. He is a "stereotypical" MD in that way. . .. .He is not stereotypical in many other ways. Dh does not even own a suit, which is perhaps stereotypical for his field of work as well. . . . He may don a suit jacket tonight, though!

Hi everyone! DD11 had a great time at Girls' Night Out: she hit the bonus on her favorite game and got 500 tickets! This was a little less than half of what she needed to get what she wanted, but she had figured out a system on the game and racked up a total of 1275 tickets, which got her a dinosaur pillow pet (1200) + candy. As we were driving, she said "Aren't you going to ask me how was my first day of school?" So I did, and got "Awesome!!!" and some other info. Tonight, Wednesday Night Out is coming back to my church (it goes on hiatus during the summer). I will be eating there, and maybe joining a Bible study.

helia: I looked at the web page and have decided that the Guardian Building looks like a cathedral rather than an office building.

Oh, to raise eyebrows at the community college human relations person who neglected to hire helia when the chance came. Tsk, tsk. Reminds me of the RKO talent folks who paid so little attention during Fred Astaire's audition that they famously wrote, "Can't act. Slightly bald." and let him go to MGM for his first picture.

Errands to pet store and PO. Had to wait on dry cleaning errand, and the library didn't line up in the pathway either. Laundry through to drip-dry. 3x5s made into labels for dd15's closet containers.

So, for household first days of school,
OKay and Elizabeth are well under way, blessedw2 began today, my household starts Monday and helia's Sept 3? Is that right? Who else has news? Nancy, has school started for your grandchildren? I was thinking of LisaB, but I believe they are in the middle of the school year. Cowinkie has begun part-time teaching, too.

We almost went in the Office Supply store, but dd wants to wait until she hears from teachers.

Dd had her first day of school today...but she is the teacher! Hoping she enjoyed her middle-schoolers today. She has had meetings for a week, but this is the first day with students.

Nancy's egg custard was a hit with Dh tonight. He thought he didn't like egg custard!

There is a Men's breakfast this Sat. morning @ our church but every one I can think of that might be interested in going has some where else they are planning to be it's a busy time of year here. Hunting season begins for one person, another car show, some one else boating sigh at least I tried!

lunch x & dinner planned left overs for h. make salad for me. Egg custard finally is done it sure helps if you actually plug in the crock pot! LOL!

Rose harbor in bloom Debbie Macomber has a new book out, I listened to her talk about it on line but can't get the link back up to look up her world vision knitting charity knit for kids sigh It was on fox n friends.
I'm reading Dangerous by Dana Palmer.

B.day plans trying to think of some thing special for that only have a couple of weeks to figure that out.

Next door front yd. looks super after I've mowed it ours did not need it dgd had the hens all out for an outting to play in our front yd. on supervised bug patrol.

My innards are back to normal and I had a green plum before I mowed, taking a water break now. No school for grands for one more week. I'm ready for school this year.

I'm SO glad I had the school schedule for dgd's pre school to let the other granny know what it was when she picked up #3 dgd today, the other granny is done with her water aerobics the outside pool is closed so I have Wed. off again now.

Helia I'm with you on the opening of the schedule and wondering what's next.

I'm trying to find some fall bulbs on the w. mart site w/ out much luck.

I just finished adding LO school schedule to Google calendar so it is always available to view. It helps me know best time to schedule appt for him during school day. He has 15 different time slots for activities/subjects during the 7 hours he is at school. The time slots range from 10 minutes to 1 hour. The subject/activities = handwriting, Library, PE, Art/Music, calendar activities, Phonics, Literacy centers, Lunch, Recess, Reading, Centers, Math, Story, Rest time (1 hour), Free choice centers, snacks, review and wrap up. I just noticed that computer lab isn't listed. hum....... Also missing is speech therapy time slot...... His teacher preferred method to communicate is email and/or txting so I'll send my questions to her now.

Off to bed now. Pleased that the church newsletter got sent out. I'll catch heck later on because I did the whole thing without clearing it with anyone, let along the "communications committee" but I didn't have time for people to pull things together, etc, it was easier to do it by myself.

Indiana must be smiling from up above after she's read all about our fond memories of her. Found a penny on the ground today...like to think it was her saying hello.
